It's a common courtesy to apologize when you have wronged someone before you go back trying to make nicey nice like nothing ever happened.

It's something instilled early on that when there is a problem and you are the causative agent, own up to it and apologize.

If you are unwilling to be responsible and respectful, then you steer clear.

I stopped coming to MyCoupons quite awhile back because of all the bickering. I wanted light, internet friendships where you could get an idea, a recipe, save some money, etc. I wanted some intelligent back and forth conversation.

Every few months, I stop back and see what's going on. I keep hoping that the one "nice and peaceful" person that fights with everyone would have moved on and left the board or changed her ways. Sigh. That hasn't happened. This used to be a bustling, fun place to hang out.

I don't mean to hurt that person's feelings but this is just sad. Everyone has left because this is just not a nice place to be.

Think ya'll have it wrong. It's all of you, with the exception of Lucy who are mean, cruel, Internet thugs. You have nothing better to do than to continue to pick on her. Who cares what meds she takes. Who cares about her punctuation. All of you are fixed on one thing.. Does it make you feel special or important to be able to sit at your computers and write on an Internet board picking someone over? So you don't like her. So what? BAP, I don't deny that we do have one lightening rod member. And if you'll look way back (I couldn't even tell you when), I used to be a defender and really felt like people just didn't understand that people communicate differently, etc., and I would cringe and wish people would just lay off.

Over time, I came to realize that it really is a game to the one in the center of the storm.

There will be posts in which it seems there has been some picking, and they always end with the declaration (in my paraphrase), "I just want us all to be happy and nice to each other!"

And moments later, this same poster will start a very controversial thread that she absolutely knows will cause people to debate fiercely.

She'll bring up how happy she is about gay marriage as a fresh new post, as though everyone will be on board with that idea.

Those aren't the actions of someone who is just a little daffy and who really wants everyone to only discuss things like movie stars. They are the actions of someone who actually wants the pot to be stirred, but to be able to claim that they are the only nice person here and that everyone else is antagonizing her.

I generally try to be level-headed and not mean-spirited in these discussions, but I've gotta say....its worn thin, and I don't buy the naive schtick anymore.
