What is your favorite shampoo and conditioner kindly please share

I was in the mood to buy Flex. Haven't used it for years, but got to thinking about a childhood friend whose bathroom always smelled like Flex, and I used it often as a teen. Now it is way out of my price range for shampoo and conditioner.

Favorite shampoo is Pantene, however I truly only purchase it when it is on sale, and then stock-up a lot. Other then that one I also love Herbal Essense's Shampoo they do make some really nice scented ones..This is a throw back, anyone here remember lemon -up shampoo it had a almost real looking lemon as the cap for trivia. Clearly remember that as being a teenager. Peace and blessings to all. Catherine

I am all about fun.

I like the scent of baby shampoo.

I am going to try to locate a cheap source of Flex tomorrow, though.

I don't really have a favorite. I like Aussie, Pantene, Pert...all of which I buy on sale with a coupon.

It's a good thing. It seems that might be all that's left...

In the spirit of "fun", I like the smell of the Renpure Organics. I alternate that with Abba Thickening shampoo.

I remember Flex, too! It did smell good, but I was surprised at the price I just saw online. What's up with that??

As far as I know, Flex shampoo and conditioner is discontinued. I didn't like it though, I have a half full bottle of conditioner sitting in my cabinet for before it was discontinued...HA!

I'm not finding that I like anything enough to keep buying it.

For years I was a Pantene girl. Recently my cousins wife (She owns a salon in the Chicago area) sent me some Eugene Perma Essentiel Volume and I love it! The scent is delicious. My hair is still silky, smooth, and shiny but it actually has some body as opposed to being flat. Her distributor gets it from Paris. I had to use google translator for the information and directions.

I have limp hair and Pantene made it worse. I was buying an expensive dandruff shampoo but something has gone wrong with the production I guess and it's no longer available. No one will say that it's been discontinued but no one says that it will return either.

So those who have tried the volume shampoos find they work? I might have to try one of those. My current plan is to get my shampoo with a prescription and then cut it in half with an over the counter shampoo, to help cut the cost. So what volume shampoos are the favorites? At least the favorites that don't cost a bundle.

All I know about Flex is this...

I used it as a kid and liked it.

I sat behind someone in church a couple of years ago whose hair was absolutely the most healthy-looking hair I had ever seen, and I asked her what products she used. She said just Flex shampoo and conditioner.

She works in another town some of the time, and it was in that town's WalMart that she bought her Flex. I couldn't find a local source and didn't work hard to find any, but would've liked some.

My hair has seemed like it needed something different lately, so I decided I'd see if I could get my hands on some Flex. Again - couldn't find it locally, so I thought, "Amazon!" Um... no! It's $25 / bottle before shipping.

And then I thought, "eBay!" Um, no! A lot of 10 bottles just went for nearly $200 when shipping was added in.

I also happened upon an auction for Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific!, which made me laugh.

First chelmo loved your profile picture, your so pretty, so nice to put a face to a name...To wildwood, my husband also suffers from very limp and ultra super fine hair...he just uses easy or less cost shampoo like VO5 or White Rain...He could wash his hair and literally it goes limp and then gets a bit greasy so easily. Me I have such thick hair I could go all week and not shampoo, however I wash and use so much conditioner everyday...Peace and blessings to all. Catherine

Wildwood - I find that most volumizing shampoos leave my hair feeling gunky. I have baby fine, stick straight, thin, oily hair. I was using Aveda Pura Abundance for awhile but by the time I finished with my first bottle I felt like my hair had build up even though my stylist insisted it didn't. However, I am very particular about the way my hair feels. I do not like to use product (gels, mousse, etc.) I like my hair to feel very soft and clean and to be very shiny!

Nexxus Diametress works well. I think I quit using it because I got tired of the scent. IIRC I thought it smelled medicinal. It has been years since I used it. Graham Webb also makes a nice volumizing shampoo - I think it is an apple gingseng scent. Again, I got tired of the scent. I absolutely HATED Redken Body Full. My hair looked dull, felt dirty and coated. I wasn't a fan of Matrix's volumizing shampoo either.

ILL - thanks. I have "helmet" hair in that picture. We rode my husbands Harley that night in 100 degree weather.

WOW: So it sounds like people have been hoarding these no-longer-being-made shampoos. Is that the reason for the auctions? I just wonder what the shelf life is on a product like that.

It just sounds strange that people are paying so much for a product that could be out-of-date.

I assume somebody stumbled upon a boatload of it in Dollar Tree, realized it had been discontinued and there might be a market for it, and is now planning a vacation to Europe. lol

I don't worry at all about products like that going 'out of date'. Food, yes, medicines, yes... but health and beauty products, no, not if it is an unopened bottle or package.

I recently found a rancid bar of bath soap in the back of a drawer. So things do go bad, but I suspect it takes quite a while. I'm not a big drawer cleaner, so there's no telling how long it was there. I think a lot of soaps have fat in them and fat will go bad. Shampoo's, who knows what's in them? Mostly a lot of mystery ingredients.

Thanks Chelmo, I'm making a list of those to look for. My hair is bone straight and dry. I have a lot of hair but no volume. As I get older, I think it's thinning somewhat because I have cowlicks that I never noticed in years past and the only thing I can think of is that my hair has thinned enough that there is not enough hair to hold them down anymore.

I don't shampoo except two or three times a week because of my dry hair. So my shampoo usage is not as great as those who do it every day. If I find a product that I love, I don't mind spending a little more on it, but $20 or more for a bottle of shampoo, unless it's huge, is more than I want to spend. Although the dandruff shampoo, that I can no longer find, was in the neighborhood of $24, it lasted me for several months. I'm actually better off, financially, getting it with a prescription I think. Also I'm allergic to many scents. I'm okay with woodsy and fruity scents, but most floral scents do not make my sinuses happy.

I like the John Frieda Go Blonder (I think?) stuff, because it does actually work. My hair's now closer to the color it was when I was younger. It only goes so far, though, and I have yet to determine what the active ingredient is. I also really like Suave dry shampoo (is that cheating?), because it makes a lot of volume when applied to dry hair, and rubbed in well (head upside down), and Suave mint rosemary, because it's cheap, and cleans thoroughly.

After awhile shampoo just like lotions and creme's start to sperate ,I would not trust old shampoo , I never ever use old toothpaste, there are reasons all products have expire dates on them. I would assume perhaps a few weeks after, but then I will throw it away...Peace. Catherine

I have color treated hair so I just get any that is on sale and has a coupon. Right now I am using Infusium 1 and 2. I like them , my color is still good. Catherine I do remember Lemon Up! I used it for quite a while. Does anyone remember Prell? They showed how how thick it was by putting a pearl in it. My mother bought it all the time.

My grandmother bought it all the time too. She was funny, she always told me that I had thick hair because that was all she used on my hair when I was little.

I'm a shampoo & conditioner snob! I've tried so many other shampoos/conditioners and have never found anything like what I use....Aveda Dry Remedy. My niece tried to get me to change to Organix and I just found my hair to be so *rough* feeling and I had the hardest time straightening it.

I don't use shampoo.I only use Wen, or hair one (sall'y version of wen) and will NEVER allow shampoo in my hair again. Wen has totally changed my hair.

Pantene, which I buy on sale and/or with coupons. I also buy Pantene at BigLots. I used DD's bottle of Herbal Essence conditioner that is almost empty and I like it and am waiting to see how my hair looks/feels this evening. I normally wouldn't have bought the Herbal Essence, however, I had a coupon for a free bottle. I'd try Aussie with my free bottle coupon only I can't find a regular size bottle in the formula we use. DD and I both use the sleek/smooth formula to calm our frizzy hair.
