| Hurricane/storm Irene people: how are you doing?
We were directly in the path of the storm here in western Ma. In my immediate area we were so lucky. We got only 4.5 inches of rain in total since yesterday. Winds were fairly tame. Lost power for only 2 hours (We were out almost 3 days after the 6/1 tornado) We have lots of small tree debris and one big branch down, that is it. Haven't been out and around yet but everyone I talked to locally is doing well. Areas within 30 miles of us got hit with over 8 inches of rain and severe flooding. Further north, especially Vermont, hit with terrible flooding. What happened where you are?

I am in Maryland right outside of DC. My neighborhood did ok. I don't know how much rain we got because we lost power for about 19 hours. The winds were strong but we did not lose any trees in my immediate area. Other areas had many trees down. Some schools are not opening because they do not have power. My school opens tomorrow which is the original start date. We had more damage last summer with two back to back thunderstorms.
