Toddlers and Tiaras

First, let me say I don't like toddler beauty pageants in general.
Second, I do not nor can I make myself watch this show.

(I flash back to Jon Benet Ramsey photos EVERY TIME I see pics of any toddler all made-up, hairsprayed, dressed in a dress that costs more than my entire wardrobe...)

So, I'm not an objective opinion!

"Toddlers and Tiaras" Mom: Baby Hooker Outfit Is Harmless | TMZ.com

I am appalled, disgusted and wee bit ill thinking about this woman!
She says she's not "pushing" her kid in to sports where they can get hurt. ummmmm....hello? Dressing your 3 y/o child up in a "hooker" outfit? Forcing her to smile when she doesn't feel like it? Not to mention the amount of chemicals the child is exposed to in the form of make-up and hairspray! Oh, I could go on and on!

Pageants for kids aged 10 or so and up? Not an issue for me. At that age they should be able to vocalize what they want and why they do/don't want it!

Don't get me STARTED!

I can't even BEGIN to attempt to watch that show. I can't fathom what kind of an adult thinks that's a good way to raise a child.

Agreed with both of you. Do not even get me started on this topic either, it is plain disgusting, to see those itty bitty little girls , some of them cannot even talk, all that make-up and special hair-do's and sexy clothes and the moves they make, they are wayyyyyyyy to young, it is a disgrace. Most of those girls when you view the show, look so tired and really do not want to do anything, for the most part they are so forced to perform. I firmly believe it is more for the parents then the children. I can understand when the girls get older, but it truly should be their choice. Also even with that I still do not believe a girl younger then 14 should be dressed like they do and with all that make-up and sexy outfits and the sexy moves. Then we wonder why we have so many young girls acting the way they do......Very Sad , I feel very sad for those little girls.....Peace and blessings.......to all. Catherine

I place Toddlers and Tiaras in the same category with Dance Moms which is: "Moms living their life through their kids"

This is a show that is like a car accident to me. I just cannot fathom why a parent would want to tart her baby girl up and parade her around for grown ups to judge her.

I have watched, I am ashamed to say.....(I have no life). I have been witness to many mothers who are degrading to their babies, who push their kids to do these things and call the ability to turn a circle without falling down a " talent". Geesh.

There is not a good enough reason for these words to EVER be said to a child under the age of consent:

Bring it, Baby!
Shake that thing!
Get it, Girl!
Strut your stuff!

And I should be ashamed of the fact that I can't stand a six year old but I do not care for the self proclaimed "World Champion" Eden Wood and her mother....who claims that Eden is a movie star and a musical video icon. Sigh.

See, I told you I watch this crap!

Last week, a Mom proudly stated that her daughter had a nickname......"super freak".

Well...I watched the Anna Nicole show! Would stumble upon it, and it (she) was such a train wreck, I just kept watching.

I have watched the pageant show ONCE. And was just so pissed off, I couldn't even speak.

My sister entered my niece when she was right around a year. But this was 25+ years ago before it was big bucks. My niece won in a Walmart outfit. Entered her in another one, and the judges dinged her because the dress was hand-made (was beautiful handmade or not!) and because my niece had trouble walking and her knees looked "funny" (shortly after niece was diagnosed w/ rheumatoid arthritis). Was the last pageant she entered! We knew right then that it was not promoting the values we wanted!

I am in love with whoever edits these shows...right about the time the mother says 'My daughter, Chelsealaneynicccoolebree is such a sweet little girl who just loves the stage and we put her in pageants to boost her self confidence" we see the next shot of the little girl screaming her head off as her mother pulls her onto the stage by her arm while the little one slaps her mom upside her head. Cracks me up all the time.

Or the mother is bragging about how pageants make her little darling (who always has a weirdly spelled name.....IEGHSWRT but it sounds like Mary).....so mature as the little girl is crying hysterically at the thought she has to wear fake hair and a dress that is itchy. Love it!

What about the mother who favored her one daughter over the other daughter by saying how dd 1 favored the mother and was so much prettier than dd2. What a mother of the year! Then she bought a new dress for dd1 and made dd2 wear a dress that was torn. Mother of the year right there!

A crazy show full of CRAYZEE people! And why are all the mothers dressed like they just drug themselves out of bed and the little girls are dressed like they are standing on the corner of 5th and Main?

Did anyone see last weeks show with the five year old dressed like Dolly Parton with fake boobs and a stuffed behind in a form fitting dress with a blonde wig? Charming...simply charming!

Sweetie?? We may have to get you a life! LoL

I have watched Super Sweet 16. I understand the sheer "OMG" factor of watching these people so screw up their children (or how screwed up the kids all ready are!) You just find yourself not believing these sort of people actually exist...

Seriously, I have to get a life! Seriously! Typed out I realize how terrible my TV watching of garbage has become....I blame it on the weather here in SC. Too hot to go outside.....or at least that is the story I am going to go with.

I never watched much more than a few minutes of SS 16. I just couldn't get into watching a kid get a nicer party than my wedding, and the weddings of all my friends and family put together. I know that some people have lots of disposable income but to flaunt it when so many people do not have any is just so tacky to me. I was disgusted by the wealth and the snottiness of the girl in the one show i did catch when she was deciding who to invite and who not to invite.

Now, I will admit I do watch some of the Housewives and sort of watch Teen Mom......(ok, i broke my leg last Spring and was on bedrest for most of the last year so I sort of have an excuse)

Red face

I would put this show right up againist Kate plus 8, which by the way has been cancelled thanks to God. If you way back to the first few shows Kate seemed very normal and seemed very nice. However all the glitz and glamour of being on television and being able to be seen by millions of people went directly to her head and ego. It clearly was not about the 8 children anymore. I happen to watch the last few shows, where they all go on a 2 week vacation in this big buses. She took along 2 other ladies who I assume at one time were Kate's friends. Not for nothing but all Kate did was complain all the time. Did anyone here see the show, it is all about her and her looks. At this point I am so happy the show is over, this way her children can hopefully go back to a somewhat normal life. If you look at the older girls Maddy and Cara, they were not to happy. I believe they are relived to not have camera's following them all over....Same goes for Sister Wives, who in their right mind would let their husband have 3 other wives, they all get to sleep with him, yet when asked if one of the wives could bring another man into the scene, the husband replied I am repulsed......I do seriously think Toddlers and Tiara's are horrible those moms are crazy, it is for the adults. Please let those little girls be little girls and have fun..........Peace and blessings.. Catherine

That picture is disgusting. If I saw that anywhere else I'd want to call CPS!

That woman about makes me snap, "Wendy adds, "People need to look at their own family and what they're doing. I don't know why people are focusing so much on pageant moms when there's much more harmful things people are letting their children do!"" I'm sorry...WHAT!??

Apparently dumb biatch blonde doesn't grasp the concept that emotional abuse, mental abuse, adjustment disorders, etc., don't show up right away, sometimes for years. Bruises and broken bones heal. Sports teach comradarie, teamwork, goals, fitness, etc. What the hell is she teaching her kid? How to be a dumb arse skank and "shake her thang" for the crowds?

Just sickening. I'm soooo hoping that show is just as much of an "acting" (term used VERY loosely) nightmare as the rest of the crap reality shows.

I saw 2 different interviews with the mother and little girl that wore the boobs and butt padding. That little girl made me think of a prancing pony or a dog in a circus act. It broke my heart. The whole time she was posing, with a fake smile, and she kept looking at her mother for cues. The mom told her to relax or be herself (something to that effect) and the little girl started to do spinning poses, bigger smiles, and batting her eyes!!! Every question the little girl was asked she answered with "For the toys". The mom would quickly interject that the girl loved doing it for the toys. It made my blood boil and broke my heart.

Yesterday I saw the little girl dressed up like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. The judges loved it?!?!?! I thought it was supposed to be a pageant? Maybe they are Halloween contests? How in the world could any mother think that was acceptable? Where in the heck are the father and grandparents? What happened to good sense? Thank goodness she didn't have padded boobs and butt. I think I would have lost my mind

There is no way, in good conscience, I could have tarted up my daughter when she was that age! I don't think a natural beauty contest for little kids would bother me as much. I still wouldn't agree with the principal of judging small children by beauty standards.

I had on the TV on something, probably Inside Edition that was showing this little girl with the fake breasts and rear end and was absolutely disgusted! To me this is just one step below child pornography! I find it to be perverted! I can just imagine the old perverts sitting around watching that show...UGH! Makes me sick!!!!! I don't believe the mothers realize what they are doing though and how sick it is. I think they are a bunch of clueless bimbos!(the mothers)

Usnamom you need a hobby. TMI.

That show and the Sister wives type shows are abhorrent. I don't mind the Housewives so much because they are adults and in sort of committed relationships, odd though they may be. The T&T show, it's kind of like finding an unusually interesting, almost pretty bug crawling across your kitchen counter. You don't know what it is, but it's so unusual and interesting. Should you stomp it to death or just keep on watching and see what it will do next? But watching babies be abused is not good television, not good for society, and not good for my mental health, (because I want to strangle the parents, the show producers, and the advertisers).

I'm not sure which show I had on with the multiple wives, I think there is more than one isn't there? But the husband, (aka The Jackass in my mind), is so smarmy and oily. Reminds me of a snake oil salesman. And smug doesn't begin to describe his attitude. Yucky yucky yucky man. If he lived in the south instead of being a Morman reject, he would be a revival preacher who traveled from town to town, schtupping the young girls behind the tent after meetings.

There are other shows that I hate that are pretty disgusting, to me, as well, but not because of the mental damage and abuse that are going on in the two I mentioned. I really think the parents of the children on T&T should be required to get counseling.

And usnamom, I can suggest some good books, or other shows to watch. Have you watched Hand Fishing? That's a real keeper.

Nah, I only watch reality shows that allow me a high level of snarkabilty!

I usually watch political shows but this summer has been full of Bachman and the other people who say silly things. I like to watch people who are dealing with a different skew of reality!

We watch a lot of "Pawn Stars" "Hardcore Pawn" "Storage Wars" "Operation Repo" "Lizard Lick Towing" (funny stuff there!) and "Pickers"--reality TV with just enough off-the-wall people and stuff to keep it interesting!

Love all these except Lizard Lick Towing. I'll have to see if it's even on here. I don't remember seeing it. There are two others that I like, but I'm not good with names. I think one is Picker Queens or something like that. I love the stuff that gets produced from the odd things they buy. And there's another one about an auction house somewhere in the south whose name is totally escaping me. The main character is a guy with short curly dark hair and their stuff is generally more high end. There have been more than a few items go through there that I would love to have.

Maybe "Picker Sisters"?? Haven't watched it, have seen it advertised.
And I know which show you're talking about w/ the Auction House. They are close to Atlanta. And yes, they get some truly beautiful stuff--and some odd things as well.

I watched "Deadliest Catch" up until Capt. Phil died (bawled like a baby)--and just didn't have the heart to watch it after. Capt. Phil was my favorite!

Well I can't say I bawled like a baby, but it sure was sad. And it's odd, and it never occurred to me until you wrote this, but I stopped watching it as well, for the most part after he died.

On the Picker Sisters, I'm not that wild about the picking part of the show, it's ok. They are too young, too pretty and too clean. Smiling, a little flirting, and thinking they are getting great deals from the good ole boys, (like that would ever happen), but I do love a lot of what they do with the stuff when they get it back home.

And there's another storage one that I like as well. As usual, the name escapes me. There's the one with Ton and other guy who travel the country, and then there's the one where there are several characters that all go to the same auctions in the CA/NV area. I like both of them.

It's beginning to sound like usanmom and I need a help group. Maybe we could form one here. Hi! My name is Judy and I'm addicted to TV shows.

Two days ago on facebook I posted...

I hope someone will document at least one girl's evolution from "Toddlers & Tiaras" to "Teen Mom" to "Intervention" to "Hoarders."

It's a trainwreck, I used to watch it, but for my own sanity and blood pressure, I quit.

I find it completely disgusting. I didn't know there was a show on like this. We don't get cable or satellite. Does anyone know who the sponsors are so I can contact them and let them know my feelings?
I come from a family that had a child molester(dead thank God) and saw first hand the damage done. Having known this person personally, he would have tape this show just to watch over and over for sexual gratification.
I can't believe any network would put a show like this on.

Exactly. These "Moms" (term used loosely) deep down are more concerned with whatever fame and prestige this will get them. Not only living vicariously through their innocent babies, doing it as a circus freak show for the whole world to see!

It's the "My kid is a star" mentality. It's also somewhat cultural peer pressure in parts of the country. "Everyone" is doing it, so it must be fine. We tend to be herd animals and we tend to do what we see our friends and neighbors doing.

My 11 year old grandson, has at least two friends who are playing football. I ask myself, "What are those parents thinking?" A few years back when no one was aware of the dangers of repeat head injuries, I might see it, but now that this is well known, why take the chance with your child and his health? It's not like there are not plenty of other sports available. Those little 70 to 85 pound bodies, with bones that are still growing, do not need the pummeling that comes with football.
