Is your flag still flying?

Since 9/11/01, we have been flying our flag. We will continue to do it as long as we can.

Yes, flag is flying here. When our local fire department's flag gets old and tattered, we donate a flag to them as well.

I have a lot of veterans in my family, and as long as I could remember all of them always flew the flag as well as the POW flag. So when I moved out on my own, although I was /am renting, I always put the two flags out, they may be small, but they are there.

Wink

Always and forever will it fly for our veterans who have served our country, to the ones who lost their lives doing so, for the ones who are still battling in a very dangerous country. For my daddy who was a Korean war Veteran and of course for 9/11....Please God say a special prayer for all those who lost their lives that fatefull day and to all the family members they left behind.... God Bless America for she is beautiful and strong.. Peace and blessings for the 10th Anniversary 9-11-11, please God keep our country safe that day.............

When my older son was appointed to the Naval Academy in 2001, we were given a flag that flew over the capital in Olympia. On Sept 12, we put it up at our house in TX. We have flown the flag in TN, PA and now SC every day that there is sunshine. The original one has been retired to a case in my husbands office for our son and replaced with the one he recieved when he returned from Iraq a few years ago. We replaced that one when he got married and we gave his back to him. We will always fly the flag in honor of those killed in 9/11 and his classmates who didn't come back from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Very, very cool, usnamom.

Ours is not up at all times, but do put it up when we are able at times that are thought of as 'flag-flying holidays' (the 4th, etc.)

We live outside of DC in Maryland so we were witnesses to 911. I am a teacher and we had to make sure all students got safely home that day. My son was an army nurse at Walter Reed Hospital in DC and recently married. He helped in the first aid station at the Pentagon in the days that followed the attack. Some months later he was to go to Afganistan but they changed his orders. 911 and many months that followed everyone in my neighborhood had a flag. All the overpasses on the beltway had flags. As time went on less flags were seen and new people moved in and there were less flags. Hopefully, tomorrow we will see more flags.
