both my boys made A/B Honor roll, the youngest was named student of the month last month--I have good kids! The oldest wanted to smack a kid for saying something negative about me (now, I know that doesn't sound positive--but, the kid was willing to get detention to defend my honor!) At least once a day, my kids or the adopted grandbabies make me smile/laugh. I joined a facebook group that is kind of a garage sale group for the area. I have been able to give away some stuff that someone is genuinely happy to get. Stuff I no longer need or use, but somebody wanted/needed it. I have a job interview on Wednesday. I have to keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason!

| What's the last thing that put a smile on your face *About 15 minutes ago, at my dd's hs, as I was pulling out I heard 4 teenage boys call out "Punch Buggy" and start punching each other. I love to see teens being kids! what's the last funny ha/ha tickle box turnover that you have had? Thursday night, my ds and dh were joking around. DH sprayed ds with a water bottle. A few minutes later DS said "paybacks are a mom" and he proceeded to pour an entire glass of cold water over dh's head. Dh was dumbfounded. I am sure it was a you had to be there moment but it was funny as that is one of my favorite things to do to mess with my hubby. I laughed so hard I cried! Any recent warm fuzzies? This past Friday, my two teens and I spent 5 hours helping/volunteering at www.designedtocare.org I was impressed with the number of people willing to donate time and goods to work on this project. My kids worked so hard, scrubbing walls, painting, cleaning, etc. They never once complained, never stopped to take a break, and wanted to help out all weekend. I think it was a real eye opener for them. The project finished on time, yesterday. I am grateful that my kids and I were able to contribute to the project. **Great Thead, btw**

Don't know if I could group up with others who are competing against me for "best bargains" every Saturday...LOL! but if they let me go first, well, then I might consider it. ![]() KellyJef - We all know our kids are "supposed" to love us, but you're right, it's extra special when someone "chooses" to adopt us as extra parents. That rocks!Chelmo - on the punching! We used to do Slug Bug when I was younger. Should've grabbed the camera while DH was soaking wet there! ![]() Also just went to a College Prep Workshop for upcoming High School years where they stressed the importance of Volunteer/Community service hours that needed to be included in the Resume the kids will present to future colleges. That one sounds like a keeper that you could do more for in the future as well. Glad your kids saw what a difference they can make on their world.

Thanks for this. I've been so weighed down in what is "wrong" and feeling guilty about any joy I find in life....this is refreshing....SO. I love it that my sil's sister begs us to go hang with her and her friends. She is 22!! lol And another friend of my daughter's who is about 21 loves to hang with me too!! She actually came to the house and cut my hair last night and we had a blast! Went out in the yard and played "star gazing" and then went for an evening walk and laughed till we cried. I don't have friends my age yet, but have been absolutely accepted by my dds friends. It's amazing and I'm so thankful.

What's the last thing that put a smile on your face? My 19 year old daughter texted me to let me know it's was hailing/sleeting and to drive carefully. I still text her about the weather when she is out and I am home. what's the last funny ha/ha tickle box turnover that you have had? My 4 year old niece, whom I only see a few times a year, asked me to 'put her nose in the nose-garage' this weekend......that old gag never gets old!

Things that have made me feel good lately. 1.BF quit drinking.Hes hasn't had a beer now for about 6 months! ![]() 2.BF found a job that he loves FINALLY! 3.Business is slow at bf's job right now so until it picks up he gets 3 days off a week all right in a row,but still gets his 40 hours in.In the past he had always been working 6 days a week,10-12 hours a day,so this is a nice change. ![]() Can't think of anything else at the moment that doesn't involve the internet. |

Two things that have made me feel good lately: 1. On friday I went to a market by my house and saw a Veteran collecting money and giving out poppies. I put money in his basket and also wished him a happy veterans day and thanked him for his service. We ended up talking for almost 15 min. He said the entire time he had been sitting there only 3 other people said anything to him about it being Veteran's day/ 2. At the same market, I stopped by a booth that a mennoite woman has, I love her crocheted (sp?) top towels, and I ordered two from her for my kitchen. She gave me my towels and we ended up talking for awhile.

Do you like to "pay it forward"? Go to: Help Others.org: Acts of Kindness You can download and print, or get free cards mailed to you. You do a good deed and leave a card that says: "Smile. You've just been tagged! Experiments in Anonymous Kindness is the name of the game, and now ~ you're it!" It's really fun to do something for someone and leave a card |

![]() The last thing that put a smile on my face was my wonderful husband. He did a good deal of vacuuming today - all of the upstairs.( He has been doing a lot of the vacuuming over the last year, and moreso since I've been in school.) I also have a cloth chair that picks up a lot of dog hair. It's a pain to get the hair off but he did a GREAT job with it! My chair looks almost brand new. I didn't expect that. ![]() A patient thanked me today for helping her. Many patients do say thank you, it wasn't just that. I guess it was that way she did it, it seemed very genuine. Or maybe she took me by surprise.

Last week at Target the lady in front of me was short $1. I asked her "are you just short a dollar??? Please let me pay that for you". She was grateful and insistent on paying me back. I was insistent on her NOT paying me back. She even tracked me down on my way out of the store. I refused to accept her dollar....and instead told her "just pay it forward......"

Ooo Ooo Oo!! I forgot about this one. Little bit of a story, I'll try and keep it short. I work at a rehab hospital and they allow the employees, volunteers, etc to dress up for Halloween. I went down to the cafeteria to get lunch on Halloween afternoon, and I see this sweet little "fairy godmother" waiting in line to get a cold sandwich. She's got to be in her late 70's or early 80's and about 4'10", she was absolutely adorable. I found out later she was a volunteer at the hospital. I go stand next to her and the following ensued: Me: Fairy Godmother! How many wishes do I get today? FG: Just one. Now hold out your hand. (I hold out my hand, and she taps her wand on my palm which is supposed to leave "fairy dust". She then closes my hand around the "dust".) FG: Now close your eyes and make a wish. (I do as she tells me, damn near giggling this whole time!) FG: Now open your eyes. Did you make your wish? Me: I sure did! FG: Now remember, you can't tell anyone unless it comes true! Will you remember that? Me: I promise I will. FG: Ok, good. Now you have to pay for the wish. (I look at her kind of puzzled.) Me: How would I do that? She just looks at me and lift up her arms for a hug! I was choking back the tears. She was SOOO incredibly sweet, just somebody's adorable Grandma, ya know? I was always so close to my Grandparents, I love elderly people. I'm getting all misty just thinking of that again! LOL! THAT made my heart just swell up. I was in an awesome mood for the rest of the day.(Sorry so long!)

We have a "new" three and a half month old puppy named Max. At first, Bianca 910 yrs old) was very jealous but now they play and play. It puts a smile on my face every day. Bianca pretend bites him just putting her mouth with no pressure on his legs and tummy and neck and he comes flying up and grabbing what we call her furry bib. It's so adorable!

JeepLady, you taught her well by setting a good example! One day that goodness and caring will be passed to the next generation because of you. It's extra nice that she took time to make sure Mom was safe too! awww! DollyDeal, That's great news to hear and you can be such an encouragement for him.ps. your avatar makes me giggle everytime I see that little girl. Way to share giggles!Freer, Thanks for the link. We are having our kids do random acts on their B-Days according to how old they are matching the number of acts. Lots of ideas there. Our next one coming up is a teenager and while I already had the list built for that one, I've bookmarked for the next one. Ambrianna, Reading that was a real "warm fuzzie" on this end of it. I'm so glad you took the time to post it so we could all share it! ![]() AllinAugust, You had a real impact on her and I bet she thought about you all day for your kind deed. Bet that dollar bill goes on to bless many others down the road as it travels from pocket to pocket. ![]() Anna, love the puppy stage too! They are so adorable. Glad your kiddo is getting to share cuddles and fuzzies like that too. Our dog is spoiled RoTtEn! but guess we couldn't help ourselves!

| My bad, Whooops sorry - I thought Bianca was the name of a daughter and she was 9 or 10 years old. LOL ![]() I get the jealous thing now. That's what we've been worried about for the sake of bringing a "sister" in for our wiener dog. He's kind of a momma's boy and we're afraid he wouldn't like giving up his royal highness status to an additional princess in the house. So for now we stay single wienie-d. Want to watch a funny dog youtube? - It cracks me up when I watch it. ![]() Dog lovers alike will love this one... Guilty Dog Denver Official Guilty! That was funny! They totally know when they do something wrong. It's so cute. If you get another dog just make sure to give the first one extra attention and encourage them to play together. It took her about a month now they play all the time. That doesn't mean she doesn't growl at him once in a while to leave her alone lol.

Love the dog video. I kinda felt bad for him though! Have you seen this one: Dog wants to bring his pool inside the house Oh, the good in my life is that I got a huge (to me) bonus at work today!

This is a great thread. Last thing that put a smile on my face... DS (13) this morning. He is growing up and just makes me so proud! Funny moment... It might sound silly, but DS and I had lunch with my sister and her three girls this weekend (12, 10, and 2). We sat outside and ate at a seafood place. DS ordered crab. I was chatting with my sister and DS said, "hey mom" - I turned around and he had the huge crab claw right in front of my face. Of course it startled me, so I jumped. The kids all thought that was really funny that he "got me". My 2-year-old niece was giggling about it and laughing about how funny Trevor is until we left. It was sweet! Warm fuzzies... this one is easy... I have volunteered for an organization called Alliance for Children for years, but have mostly done things like organizing various drives: diapers, backpacks, Thanksgiving baskets, toiletries and pjs, etc.. This organization works with children who are being temporarily or permanently removed from their homes due to physical or sexual abuse. Recently, I signed up for another volunteer opportunity with them called the Kids Crew. This group of people sit with abused children when they are in the hospital. Obviously, if they have been removed from their homes, their family is not allowed to come see them. This weekend, I sat with a 5-month old baby boy for about 6 hours. He is on a ventilator and has a feeding tube. The first day, he mostly slept and I just held him. The second day, he was awake, so I read books to him for about 30 minutes, then sang songs. He was awake for about an hour and a half. When I first starting reading and singing to him, he would not make eye contact. By the time I left, he was looking right at me. It was amazing to know that I could spend a few hours and feel like I was really making an impact! I can't wait to go back and see him! I was scheduled for Monday, but woke up with a sore throat, so I had to cancel (he is in isolation, so no sick people can be around him). I am scheduled again for Saturday and am so looking forward to it! I love all of the other stories. Great job, X, on the topic and thanks to everyone for sharing.

JuJubee, didn't see that coming in the very end of it. LOL! That was funny! Guess it was too "hot" to play outside... Ha ha! Thanks for the funny!Kim, I too have those "awwww and a sigh, {{when did you grow up so quick}} moments with the kids. I try to remember back to the toddler days and all I see are the marks on the pantry door facing that are at eye level or higher now. The hugs and kisses are not around my knees anymore.... They don't need for me to read them a bedtime story anymore, they only need me to proof read their report that's due tomorrow and what not....{{sniff, sniff}} but back to the happy stuff you posted about being able to volunteer with kids that don't currently have parental involvement. WOW! How precious. Hope you're feeling better and get to go back and see the little guy. Sounds like he took a real liking to you and your singing. Nice to know someone around here has a pretty voice! LOL!Here's me - sending you - {{extra hugs}} your way for you to pass along to those kiddos. ![]() Take care, X
