Since Thanksgiving is a week away..what are you thankful for

Since Thanksgiving is a week away, I thought we could all post some things that we are thankful for.

Besides my children, family and home, I would say that I have been thakful for this past year. It really has taught me a lot. It was one year ago today that my boyfriend lost his job. Since that time, it has been a series of struggles living off of just my income. Then the car mess happened in October and I have been out of work since then so things have gone from bad to worse but through it all, I have learned that although having some of the things I had was nice, they were not necessary. I had to sell a lot of my things just to pay bills and survive, but I also got to see the happiness that my things brought to others. The couple who bought my bed had been living in a shelter and were so happy that they were able to buy their first piece of furnitire for their new apartment. Another couple bought my dining room set for their daughter who was in the military and had lost all of her things because of an abusive boyfriend. I gave up my cell phone and learned that all though having a smart phone was nice, i really don't need a cell phone. I can say that I don't know when things will get better for me, but I am thankful to have lived through this because although I never really judged others before, I now know what it's like to basically have nothing and still be happy. So what are you thankful for?

I am having such a hard time being thankful. Guilt mostly. We are here, he is not, how can I be thankful?? BUT......I know that we are to be thankful. God gives life, and in His timing he takes it away. How am I to question that? SO ...

I am thankful for...some of the most amazing friends in the world. They were there through it all and continue to be. My family. Through this loss my relationship with one of my sisters has blossomed. My daddy.....he is 83 and we thought he was really not doing well because of his age, but a few weeks ago it was discovered that his pace maker was not working and he is doing GREAT since it was fixed!! The rest of my family have been so supportive and it's been wonderful.

My sweet nephew who is in the guard and we had the privilege of sharing one of the most precious moments of my life when he knelt before me at my sons grave to present me with the flag. A moment so bittersweet that will be burned in my memory for the rest of my life. The love and pain that shone in his eyes is indescribable.

Wow.........I have a LOT to be thankful for!!

You are not the only one! It's been a helluva a year for me.

But....I am so very thankful for my kids. And they are all mine! For the most part they are such good kids.

I'm extremely thankful for my family--the one I born into, and the family I have acquired along the way. SO's family has become my family. His nieces/nephews call me Auntie, his brothers refer to me as sister. They have been and will continue to be a blessing beyond measure.

I'm thankful for my friends.
I know that I could be so much worse off than I am. I struggle daily to remember how good I have it...

I am thankful for health care and health insurance. My kids have multiple health issues and I am glad that there is help for them and that I can afford it.

Melissa my heart goes out to you! Your son would want you to keep living to enjoy Thanksgiving. You are still here, his memory lives on, the family can be thankful to be together.
I feel guilty too just smiling and laughing and planning Christmas shopping and Thanksgiving when there are so many hurting in the world. But we can't waste our precious little time here on Earth so we have to grab joy in every little way we can.

I am thankful for a warm house, a good job, family, friends, my pets, my routine, hot cocoa, and to put a little humor in the situation, we can all be thankful to be sane! At least those of us who are!

I've kind of found that "industrial arts" (shop class for us older ladies!) produced the really hot guy! Plus he can fix anything that is broken--including my heart! So, I'll be out behind the building smoking if anyone want to join me

Melissa, I know that the prayers and thoughts won't heal your heart but perhaps the small comfort that there are people holding you and your family in prayer will help you during these dark days....I understand the guilt.

This year I am thankful that I became a grandmother to the sweetest little nugget in the world. Violet. She has blessed our family. I recieved another DIL whom I love as my own daughter and I am thankful that both my DILs love my sons as much as I do if not more.

I am thankful to be able to experience another culture..one I do not understand. I am grateful to be able to live in a country so different than my home country so I can more readily be thankful for the freedoms we take for granted. This experience will teach me tolerance and understanding, I am sure. The Saudi people are gracious and kind and I hope to be thought of as the same by them....

After my recent drive through the not so desirable downtown neighborhoods, I am eternally grateful for our lovely home and quiet neighborhood!

I am always thankful for my wonderful loving husband...the sweetest man in the whole wide world!

Hehe, but my husband. I have a sweet, loving husband too. And I am so beyond grateful, only God knows how much.

Lucky women, us.
