Christmas Gift Ideas

I have 2 children, one teen and one 8. I try to find new creative gifts they can individually make for my parents for Christmas. They have made photo frame pen holders, jewlrey boxes, etc. I have no idea what they can make for them this year. Any ideas? TIA

My parents loved the photo calendar my nieces made for them. Pictures of the kids, parents, grandparents and even their dog made it in!

Their silhouettes, framed.

Goody baskets of homemade cookies and candies.

Bird seed suet made with bird seed and peanut butter.

If you live nearby, a coupon book with coupons redeemable for things such as window washing, raking leaves, mowing the grass, going to the movies, doing dishes, bathing pets etc.

*thinking, thinking*

Okay so to be honest, we are not photograph people...we have been bad parents in that sense. Yeah we live near by but I would put my kids to work doing those things in the coupon book, (oh wait, I have seen some of their just barely get the job done work). Would love more ideas!!!

I have 4 grandsons - 2 are just babies and the other 2 are 7 and 10 years old. I'd love it if the older 2 just spent some time talking to me. I guess they still haven't learned the art of conversation yet or maybe I'm expecting too much. Anything that came from their heart would be lovely.

can you help them make a no-sew fleece blanket or fleece scarf?

I saw instructions for making coffee/cocoa cup insulators out of the top of a pair of socks.

How about each one gets a canvas and some paint. Something small, like an 8 x 10 canvas. Let them paint whatever they want and then get some inexpensive frames. Make sure they sign their art.

I once saw a pretty framed art piece that someone had done for their grandparent. It was a combination of paint and old pieces of jewelry. They could paint tongue depressors, twigs, use buttons, dried flowers, or any "found" items glued onto a canvas. Or just lay items on a canvas and spray the canvas with one color of paint and then remove the items to leave the outlines as the art. This could be interesting if you used multiple types of items, or just one thing like the tongue depressors or straws.

How about "coupons"? The teen could give coupons to wash their car, mow their yard, drive them places (if old enough). The 8 yr old could give coupons for age appropriate chores or to read them books or bake cookies with them or whatever.
Most people appreciate time spent together more than more stuff. Although I'm not saying if they make something for them they wouldn't appreciate it. Most grandparents would rather have a cockeyed handmade ashtray than something from the store.

I was shopping this weekend and saw these garden stepping stone kits that kids can make. We have tried the cheaper ones at Walmart and they barely give you enough glass bits to do the project. I would spend a little more and go to Michaels or a craft store and buy extra glass or stones or whatever to put in it.
