Well we scout yard sales all summer long so we buy lots of things used from furniture to yard stuff to tools. I don't like used clothes or shoes but I will buy used purses on eBay & craigslist.

I buy very little used... but I really don't buy much besides food, and I certainly wouldn't buy used food. ![]() We do buy vehicles used. I'm in graduate school right now, and am happy to buy used textbooks any time I can. We also buy used cell phones. We use a prepaid carrier that uses the Verizon network, and while they do sell phones, they also allow you to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). They'll accept most any Verizon phone (except 4G phones), so we have purchased slightly-used phones on eBay and Cowboom. |

I just bought a used leather sofa. Looking for two chairs now on craigs. I buy used books. I have bought used purses on rare occasions, but seldom see ones I like. My computer was used. I don't garage sale all that often but will pick up costume jewelry, household items, etc. at them. When my kids were very small, I got most of their clothing at garage sales. Both my, now adult, children seldom buy new clothing to this day. They do buy new underwear, although I've known my daughter to buy used bras. Any used car I would buy right now would probably be a lot newer than my 1992 Taurus. I prefer new linens and towels and underwear myself. I have to buy new shoes because of my foot size. I buy new clothes for myself, there again because I don't see my size at garage sales. I've been known to pick up shirts and jackets for my husband at times. Not slacks, once again because of his size.

Every car I have had , has been used. I buy used cookbooks (I collect them), some furniture, home decor (esp. Gingerbread men, there are three thrift stores within walking distance from my house and during Christmas time they were all loaded with gingerbread things so I was able to add a lot to my collection without paying a lot) and used vintage toys and little golden books.

DH is a Craig's List addict. His latest purchase was a ski racing suit for my son. They are quite expensive new; now he has one for less than $100, and my husband will resell it after next year. After our October snowstorm and one week without power, he bought a very nice used generator for 1/3 the cost of a new one. He also bought a used snowblower. Almost all our ski equipment has been bought used from Craig's list sellers, as well as our DD's VW Bug. Now looking for a car for our son.

I've found some good things on Craigslist too - though my husband always goes with me to pick stuff up. It can be a little creepy. I love Freecycle. I like that I can just pick things up off someone's porch without having to go into their house and that I'm keeping stuff out of the landfill. I like donating stuff via freecycle too, for the same reasons.

Oh, and I just got a copy of Janet Evanovich's 17th book for a buck! Yay. It was funny. I went into the thrift store thinking, "I hope there's a Janet book today," and there it was!
