OHHHH... I do. Weren't they beanz? And remember when you could go to whatshotnow.com and earn points and trade in for gifts? And how about when every store had a great coupon out ther where you could usually get atleast 50% off every order. Drugstore.com and the 20 off 20 coupons... Oh, the good old days and how I miss them...lol Thanks for the stroll down memory lane, Krystal

| Yes it was beenz - beenz.com I still have the Mastercard. It has no value, other than nostalgic

I loved the deals you could get. I nearly paid for my whole vacation back in 2001 to Disney. There were tons of deals to earn gift cards. I also earned enough to get Disney dollars that paid for our day at Animal Kingdom. Man those were the days!!!

Most of the new stores had 10 off 10 or 20 off 20 etc. I remember getting some free things from etoys, drugstore (I still have the free first aid kit), amazon. Remember Pointclick...click certain sites and earn free gifts (like beenz)? There was also some rebate site where you would get things for free after rebate...they ended up going out of business without notice leaving lots of people without the rebates they promised (the prices of their things were also very overinflated). Remember epinions when they first started, you recommend a website and they gave you dunkin donut's coffee? Another website was where you got gift certificates, you rate the music...Jaboom (i think that was the name of it). Remember the Let's Make a Deal website? If you guessed the right door, you got a prize (I ended up winning several times however they never sent me the gifts I won).

I think everyone was going nuts looking for beenz Remember the old WHY.COM sight that you'd rate other sights and they'd enter you in their $$ drawings.. They couldn't give out enough 100 dollar gift vouchers-as a matter of fact I won 4 of them in 3 days..which I spent on Amazon for a Farberware Rotisserie and a cover for my sewing machine, and about 20 cd's. |

| Okay what about the altavista search engine and that game they had? I remember winning enough points to get an MP3 player. Mind you this was when they had just come out and it was a big deal to me. I ended up giving it to my sister because for some reason I could not connect it to my computer

When AOL first REALLY hit the scene, I was in college, and my dad gave me his CC to put the billing ( HOURLY!) on. One day, about a month later, he showed up at my dorm with STEAM coming out of his ears! The CC bill for AOL was a little over $600. He said I had to pack my bags and come home with him because he could no longer afford my tuition at my "fancy pants private college!" I freaked, cause he seemed serious. After me BEGGING- he made me go inside, and he watched me as I cancelled my beloved AOL account! He then told me I better start drinking coffee, because even though I was a FULL time Dual major, I now had to get a job to pay him back! The next day, I got a PT job at a bagel store, and paid him back in 2 months. I quit that job the day I made the payment! Not really my fondest memory of the internet, but certainly my most vivid. And I learned a good lesson- even though at the time it didn't feel like it. |

I really miss the great deals, too. Those days seem to be long gone. One Christmas, I did the bulk of my kid's toy shopping online between eToys, TRU, and KB having great money-off plus free shipping deals. I use to impress the heck out of my friends with all of those 20 off 20, but things are much different now. Remember that time a few years ago when Pennys had 50% off plus free shipping and people were ordering beds and furniture and stuff? What a fiasco. |
