Not to be a scrooge but what is the worst thing for you about the holidays? and the

best things?

For me:
The Worst

1. All of the people when I am shopping.
2. Traffic
3. My mom depending on her mood, just not knowing what is going to happen is the real nail biter.
4. My messy house trying to sort through all of the stuff the day after Christmas and get everything in order.
5. If there is alot of snow and we have to travel.

The Best

1. I absolutely love going to my big brother's house for Thanksgiving even though some relatives drive me a little batty!
2. I love the Christmas music.
3. Watching the kids open thier presents and get excited.
4. Going to Florida for Christmas.
5. I love the food.
6. I love to watch the little Christmas shows on television with my kids I think I get more excited then they do.
7. Sitting with the kids and saying what we are thankful for.
8. Acting totally goofy with the kids and the Christmas songs.
9. Love the lights and decorating.

Working in retail is the worst!!! Some days it's all I can do to make it through the day but I guess I'll survive since I've been doing it for 11 years now.
The best is spending time with my family and eating all the great food.

The worst for me is
-spending time with the in-laws. They really are rude people!
-the weather. I have lived in Ohio all my life and I still cant grasp the cold weather. Im a summer baby!

The best:
-Christmas music
-Homemade Christmas cookies
-Spending the Holidays with my own family. I just love them!
-Seeing my kids get so excited and surprised.
-Giving gifts. I truly enjoy doing that.
-Holiday TV specials, cartoons and movies.

The worst for me is putting up the tree! Either DH or I is usually calling a divorce attorney by 3pm on the Saturday after T-day- Seriously- He REFUSES to get a REAL tree, because our house could catch fire, and burn to the ground So we have an artificial- between matching the branches, fluffing the pieces, untangling the lights, and getting all the ornamaments up- we ALWAYS ALWAYS end up in a screaming match. This will be our 9th Xmas together, and he jokingly? asked me the other night if I was ready for the annual Christmas tree divorce next weekend!

The worst thing is once Christmas eve comes around-I'm so exhausted from cooking, shopping, baking, wrapping, decorating, being jolly, smiling like a nitwit for an entire month as to not be accused of being a scrooge, while trying to make EVERYONE happy, that I barely have time to revel in the fact that I've accomplished all of the above for an entire month without blowing my brains out. Yep...then I send them all to bed, have a glass of wine, and sit staring at the tree wondering why I put myself through this year after year...well, that and why Santa refuses to drop Mel Gibson down my chimney. Bah Humbug.

Worst: Shopping with all the crowds, finding a parking place, and things being sold-out! Also, taking the tree down is a chore. I always get needles all over the place, and removing the lights is a huge headache. They go up so easily - why is it so hard to get em back off the tree?

Worst- The let down that I always feel when the holidays are over...I look forward to them all year and it seems to go buy so quick that I am sad when it is done.

Best-Is our tradition of going to Frankenmuth, Michigan and staying at the Bavarian Inn on December 23rd every year for the past 15 years! We have two other families that go with us now and it gives us time to relax and be together, because the holidays are usually family events, it is awesome that as friends we get to spend some holiday time together.

The worst for me (and dh):

Both of dh's parents passed away at Christmas time (his dad on the 22nd and his mom on the 20th... different years though) so Christmas is a sad time all around. (Especially for my dd's) We do make the most of it however by spending Christmas Eve with his family (aunts, uncles, oodles of cousins) and the girls always enjoy that. Plus the man in red always makes a special showing!

The best:

Watching my girls open gifts with such enthusiasm while we watch A Christmas Story ("I double dog dare you" )
This year will be the first for our Yellow Lab, Scout.....I'm gonna spoil her lots this year!
Being able to spend the entire day in my jammies if I feel like it.
Having our neighbors over for dinner who don't have any family near (same for us, my family is down south)

The best:
Watching all the little ones opening presents. This year I get to buy for my boyfriends 12 year old and am quite excited about it.
Driving around to see all the decorated houses.
The different cookies we all spend weeks making.
How beautiful my church is on Christmas Eve.
Remembering how blessed I am

The worst
Not having my mom for both Christmas and her birthday (Dec 26). This is the second year and I think its worse this year.
Going to my step mothers, lugging all the food, starting her dishwasher when I walk in and worrying about breaking anything of here.

The worst

Wrapping all the gifts by myself--hubby refuses to wrap or shop

The Best is watching my kids unwrap their gifts and getting so excited over the littlest of things

The worst:

Janenga - I can relate my father passed away Dec. 15th, Christmas really isn't the same. He used to call me and wish me a Merry Christmas in Italian. I will also miss my grandmother cookies she would ship me every year, she also passed this year. But it just makes me think about them more this time of year and remember them.

The Best:

For all with light problems on their tree, all I can say is get a prelit tree, the lights are wrapped around each branch and they are wonderful. Pick mine up for $5.00 at TRU after Christmas one year. The best $5 every spent. The tree is 4 ft and I let my children put all the things they every made on it and it sits in the family room. The real tree I put in the living room and it's all mine to do with what I please!

I love to make cookies and share them with all my neighbors. This is because I make so many!

I cannot forget peppermint bark...I just love it! Williams and Sonoma's is the best and I buy 2 tins for about $40.xx, I know it is insane but it is Christmas.

Going to Christmas eve service.

The worst for me is trimming the tree.....4 years ago we lost a bin of ornaments during a move and that bin had all my kids personalized/baby/special ornaments in it. We still get sad and miss them!

The best is the annual 'light fight' with boyfriend.....every year he has to tell me how to hang them, until I threaten to wrap him up in the lights, plug them in and toss him in the horse trough!! Then, once they are hung, we kiss and make up!!

The worst: Having to deal with my family. Which is why I live half way across the nation from them! My mother called first thing this morning to complain about having to go to my sister's house for dinner. There was (and never is) nothing good that she had to say about ANything. They are exhausting. I got grilled about what i'm doing today, what i'm cooking, what i'm going to do with it after I eat and then told how every single thing I just said was wrong. I cannot believe I did not screen my calls today!

worst: knowing that alot of my clients are spending christmas alone cause they either dont have anyone else to spend it with or their stupid kids are just to busy to come to their parents homes for christmas. I wish i had a house big enough to get each and everyone of them that will be alone in . I also wish I could get their kids to see how it makes the parents feel when they dont bother to come see them for the holidays.

the best: having my little family all together.
