What was your favorite toys as a kid?

What were your favorite toys as a kid? Have any of these toys comeback to the stores and now your kids play with it?

My favorite dolls were this doll that looked like pebbles from the flintstones...anyway, she grew a tooth when you feed her with this special spoon. I also loved the Drowsy, Swingy and Barbie (I had a camper and a house that folded up)dolls.

One of my favorite stuff animals was Smokey the Bear. My daugher has a smokey too.

My favorite games were monopoly, ker-plunk and twister. My kids play with the same games.

My daughter had a drowsy doll as well as countless barbies and accesories.

I also enjoyed Tinkertoys as well as my kids.

I have a few favorite "toys". One morning my three sisters and I woke up to presents by our beds. Next to my pillow was this block puzzle thing, it was so neat. But when we got up, my mom looked at me and said she made a mistake. When I was sleeping I looked like my sister and she put the wrong gift by my pillow. So I had to give the puzzle to my sister. I can still remember how upset I felt. I don't remember what my gift was. I just knew I loved that puzzle. I have the puzzle now, and its in the baby's room for future fun and memories.

My other favorite toy was my kitchen/store set. I woke up one morning and next to my bed were boxes of pretend food items. My mom and grandpa had saved empty cereal boxes, cleaned out juice containers, yogurt containers, etc for months and months and sealed them up. So I had so many "grocery" items for my make believe kitchen and store. It cost next to nothing, she did buy some plastic fruits and veggies, but it was one of the best toys because it seemed so real. Now it seems so much more special because I had no idea they had been planning and saving all those empty containers.

I guess they were my favourites because of all the love that went into them.

As far as games. We loved playing Sorry, Trouble, Monopoly, Payday, Snakes & Ladders, any card games. Oh and the original Nintendo with Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros.

We made sure our DS (10 and 13) have some of the same toys that DH and I fondly remember from childhood.

Legos ( They DO mulitply at night so you trip on them in the morning! They are so much cooler than the simple blocks and green trees that I had as a child.)

board games (Lots of family memories of playing on rainy days or while camping. we have tons of them! Monopoly, Scrabble, Trouble, LIFE)

stuffed animals (I loved my stuffed friends, they went everywhere with me. The boys have ones from their babyhood that still hang out on the bed.)

balsam wood gliders (simple toy, tons of fun)

rockets (my older brothers made them all the time, DH never used one before. We had a blast shooting one off in a football field and the boys had to run and find where it landed)

Video games (the old classic Nintendo, Atari and Genesis.. the boys like to play them, they think of them as new and exciting. We think of them as "wow, technology has changed over the years" and marvel that the boys like the old pixel chunky graphics as much as PS2 and XBox)

If I had a girl...
Barbies, Easy Bake Oven (but use Jiffy cake mixes instead because the others cost too much according to my mom), dolly buggy (I had a pink plastic buggy with white wheels, metal handle. I loved that thing!), lots of dolls (must have eyes that blink and has eyelashes, pretty hair that you can comb and make into pigtails), ballerina music box (to hold all the secret treasures. Still have mine with a lock of my hair, one of my baby booties, friendship bracelets that DH and I made when we first met, and a cross that my grandmother gave me)

My favorite toy would have had to be Tinkertoys also.My brother and I would always compete to who could make the best robot and then our robots would fight each other.

Next would have to be my Say it Play it. Its a kids tape recorder.Had a ball with that.

Can't forget Barbie and her husband GI Joe who my brother never played with so thats why he married Barbie. And their maid ,my other Barbie with the chewed fingers from me watching monster movies. And their pet Gorrilla that GI JOE caught while it was trying to kidnap Barbie.

Last but not least Ben, my pet gerbil whom I spent hours upon hour building mazes for him to go through.

We had the usual family games too, Monopoly, my favorite was Scrabble and Chess because I was the best!

My favorite (and the only one I can remember - it was a LONG time ago) was a doll I got with casts and crutches and bandaids and stuff to play doctor with her.

It would have to be the kitchen my Dad made my sister and I when we were about 4 & 6. Everything was real; coils on the stove top, kithen faucet and sink, handle on the stove.

Anything pertaining to cooking was my thing. I loved the Easy Bake Oven!

One of my favorite toys as a kid belonged to my boy cousins. They had a "rock em sock em robots" and I LOVED it!! I had more fun blasting the other robots head off! The only dolls I would play with were Barbies. I wasn't much of a "toy kid". I have ALWAYS LOVED books and to me a stack of books was about the best present I could ever get. In fact, when I was 5 years old I decided to runaway from home and packed my little suitcase FULL of books, a little bag of candy, and a blanket. Guess I thought I was set for life. The suitcase was so heavy I had to drag it down the block and then I sat on it and cried. I'm 45 now, and my mom still teases me about my running away and lugging that suitcase of books!

We have made sure to get the boys alot of toys that we had as kids over the years like a slinky, boardgames, nerf guns, silly putty, ect.
