Help! Husband is in acute pain...could it be appendicitis

Ok My Husband is on the living room floor in pain lower left right side. What are the other signs of appendicitis. I keep telling him should I call the Doc and he keeps saying no. He is in so much pain. It's 11:20pm and I'm nervous if I fall asleep the appendix will burst or something. It stinks because today the nurse calls and tells me she thinks DD has a clot in her thigh. AGH two guessing games although DD has no choice but to listen to me. Sorry I need to vent through nerves.

With that kind of pain, I think he needs to be seen by a doctor to find out what is wrong. Has he ever had a kidney stone? Those can cause alot of pain, but he needs to see a doc to find out for sure what is going on.

Could be appendicitis, could be something else.
Won't know unless he goes into ER.

If it's enough pain that he can't walk around and do daily activities then the pain is enough to warrant an ER visit.

Kick his behind and drag him in if you have to.. men try to hide when they feel pain.. yes dear I admire your manly abilities.. but they won't do squat for you if you get peritonitis.

Throwing up is one of the symptoms of appendicitis. My DS had his appendix out 2 years ago. He said it was the worst stomach pain he had ever had. Also, it was very tender when you push on the lower left side.

Thanks going to try and insist on an ER visit. Toughie did this to me a few years ago when he had a red line going up his arm from and infectious cut. I finally called his mother yep and told her to talk sense into him because he did the same thing. Guess you could say I was desperate but at midnight he better listen to me or elso I will tell him I'm going to wake his mama up! Wish me luck men are so stubborn sometimes.

Could you call the ER and tell them your DH's symptoms? Maybe then he would be more willing to go.

ER is going to tell you that without examining the person they can't diagnose anything and if it's that bad then they should probably come in.

oraf7,
appendix is in the lower right side.
If lying on his back with his knees bent up helps the pain--it could be appendicitis
Trying this: mash on his lower abdomen--if it hurts when you mash down, it is most likely not appendicitis. If it hurts when you release/let up then it probably is appendicitis.

It could also be his gall bladder.

REGARDLESS of what it is, if he's throwing up and in acute pain he needs to be seen by some one!

I'm thinking kidney stone. My DH had an attack a few years ago and the pain was unbearable. He also was throwing up. If you haven't gone already, please get him to the ER. They can give him pain meds to stop the pain and hopefully he'll be able to eventually pass the stone.

It sounds like when I had a kidney stone. I layed on the floor in so much pain. I made my DH take me to the ER. They gave me a shot for the pain and I FINALLY passed it after 7 days. Man it was aweful!!!

Hope you had success in taking your husband to the ER. Hope he's feeling a little better today. Sounds to me like Kidney stones, they will cause you to vomit also. Take it from someone who knows, to many stones over the years to count. Worse than being in labor, even delivering completely natural, with no pain meds. IF he hasn't gone, kick his butt, call his mama, do whatever it takes..

Well convinced Hubby to think of his 3 beautiful daughters and me trying to raise then alone along with a few tears which always works. So off to ER and had a Catskin and EMERGENCY APPENDECTAMY at 2:00 AM. Thanks to all of you for asking and caring. He is in terrible pain but it will only get better.

Oh my goodness, I am so glad that he went in. I wish men would understand that pain means something. What a lucky guy to have a wife who could convvince him to go. Good luck with his recovery.

I have been checking this thread for an update all day. I am sure glad you got him to go in. I know someone that didn't in time before it burst. They had a long haul ahead of them. All the best to all of you for a fast and speedy recovery.

I'm so glad he's on the road to recovery. Hopefully next time he has an ache somewhere he'll listen to you, but not likely. Men hit the age of 16 and all maturity stops, they just get bigger and hairier.
