What are your kids getting their teachers for x-mas?

I was hoping to get some ideas from all of you. My dd is in 3rd grade and not real sure on what is a good gift for her teacher.

My son(5th grade) wants to give his teacher a Starbucks giftcard. He says she goes there every morning. Not sure what to put with it though.
My daughter(K) has 2 teachers and we are giving them a box of flavored popcorn(from Target) with Blockbuster giftcards.

If you honestly like your child's teacher, please give him/her a note telling them. Seriously..that is the best gift ever! I teach reading to Kinder and 1st grade, and when the parents comment how much their child likes to practice or how they like me...I melt!! Appreciation is the best!!
However I do like chocolate and coffee too!!

Giftcards, and a book signed by my child to the teachers classroom. Sometimes we will give a toy for the classroom if the teacher doesn't have good indoor recess games. I like to give books the kids like to give the toys.

Don't forget the school secretary she gets all the hard work and nobody recgonizes it. She is the one who calls when your child is getting sick on her floor. Eveyone remembers the principal but not the secretary. just a thought

My kids' teachers and assistants are getting the same gift: Bath and Body Works products and candles. I have shopped smart throughout the year to get awesome deals on these gifts and who doesn't like to have candles? I also take comfort in the fact that BBW has a liberal exchange policy so if any of them truly don't like the scents of what we are giving them, they can always exchange them for scents they do like. Some are getting the holiday 3 in 1 stuff that smells AMAZING: Twisted Peppermint, Pecan Pie, etc.

Their "specials" teachers (Spanish, music, art) are getting a little gift of a huge coffee mug w/ specialty flavored coffee, chocolate and hot cocoa mixes, wrapped in cellophane.

I hope these are good gifts! I try to show my appreciation for their teachers throughout the entire year, also.

As someone who used to be a "specials" teacher and teaching assistant, I want to tell you that it is so nice that many of you include these folks in your holiday lists. Its nice to be remembered as someone that is important to your child(ren) other than the classroom teacher.

Now that I'm the school computer techie, I'm not on anybody's list.....LOL.

I like the idea of a small Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer - esp in the coming months for teachers! They can't be germ-free enough! LOL

As a special education teacher, I agree - it's nice to remember the specials teachers and staff in school other than just the classroom teachers. They will REALLY appreciate it! You'd be surprised how often they are overlooked.

This year we picked up a little gift set from Walmart that looks like a Popcorn box(it's plastic)and it's filled with pretzels, popcorn and candy. And then we got a $20 GC from Papa Johns pizza so the teachers can have a "night off" to spend with their family.

One of my favorite gifts to give is a scrapbook with all the kids' pictures and events from the year. I usually also include a piece of artwork from each child or just each child's signature...something sorta personal from each child. I normally do this at the end of the year though. Teachers usually tear up looking at it.
Oh, and always include a special note to the teacher in the scrapbook!

What I've been told that teachers like are:

gift cards to restaurants or dept. stores
gc for massages or manicures
note cards

I know there's more but I'm blank now.

I'm hoping to get the kids' class pics back so I can make ornaments for each of their teachers. Firgured this way they can always look back on this year's class and remember all the little ones

I admit- I love giftcards lol...

bbw things are nice too, and I love office supplies, so perhaps a bag of things a teacher could use (colored pens, post its, sharpies, etc) this time of the year all that I bought when school started starts to run out. Dollar tree has a ton of nice teacher items too (stamps, stickers etc).

This is the first year one of our boys has asked for a teachers gift since they started middle/high school. Youngest DS absolutely adores his english teacher and the student teacher. So, today I ran and got each of them a Yankee Candle that will be placed in a beautiful mosaic candle holder. I'm also going to get each of them a GC for a manicure.

This is a child that went from getting A's in elementary to C's last year in English, back to A's. Their both definitely making a difference for him!

I could use some ideas, too. Eryn is in preschool and has one main teacher and one that helps sometimes. I have NO clue what to get them. Her main teacher is an older lady and the one that helps (she runs the place) is probably in her 40's or so. I don't want to spend a lot of $$$ (cause we are broke ).

There are so many great gift ideas. BBW, gc's, chocolates, gift baskets with gourmet food, snacks or whatever, homemade treats, candles, and so much more.

DS is giving his teacher a nice Glade trio candle set and a pack of refills, body stuff for the principal, VP, secretary and his speech therapist. I also have something for his religion teacher. I just love giving stuff so I find stuff all year long and then go nuts giving it all away.

For men I give those really nice razors like that Fusion one with shaving cream and maybe aftershave. There are so many great deals on the Fusion at CVS to get almost free. Also what about popcorn tins at WM and WM also has those big sausages from Hillshire Farms. They are 2/$6 right now and usually get cheaper closer to Christmas. The guys always fight for those sausages and they are really big. Beef jerky or beef sticks are also good.

This year I'm still not totally sure but since i was able to get in on the Wallflower deal at BBW, hopefully it will help make things easier (although I think my list of people I thought to give the Wallflowers is longer than the amount I actually ordered ).

I do try to remember to write a note of appreciation to my childrens teachers. Generally speaking we have been incredibly lucky on that front & I really do appreciate them.

Guess I really do need to get my list together and see what I have versus what I need. I started early the year (right around Thanksgiving) and that is the kiss of financial death for me, because then I get all messed up. Usually I end right before Christmas. If I shop until Christmas, Oh My!

I am getting my daughters 6th grade teachers complete BBW sets (they were all free!!)
The gifts that they get just make you want to work there. Last year someone gave each teacher a Spa Sydell g.c.
Most teachers got at least $100 worth of Starbucks g.c. One cute idea I saw with those was a parent had asked for the the cup and then put some shredded shiny red and green paper inside the cup and put the gc in it.
Our crossing guard is a big Jeff Gordon fan so I get him a 2 liter Pepsi with a Blockbuster g.c. attached to it.
For the men teachers I got a 2 can nut special.

I am a Tastefully Simple consultant so my teachers will be getting soups and bread mixes this year. for some of the "extra special" staff, my kids are helping me make the almond pound cake in mini loaves and then we will be wrapping them in holiday plastic wrap with a bow - handmade by the kids.

Everybody loves food!

My sister got me a "cookies in a jar" gift giver last year so I think I'll do that this year since money is tight and I have to buy for like 5 pre-k teachers. I just don't know where to find the mason jars...? Any ideas?

I found them online at Ace Hardware. Here's the link....hopefully it will take you directly to the page. I think you can use Google check out for $10 off $30, too.

I'm surprised that so many people get "teacher gifts"....three years ago our teachers requested that the PTO organize a food drive for the needy in lue of gifts for them. it works very nice...in fact this year the teachers sent letters home a couple of weeks ago asking that instead of spending money on gifts for them, that you purchase food/ toliet paper/paper towels etc and as a group the teachers in the building present it to the local food pantry that makes Holiday baskets for the needy......

My sons teacher made a point of telling the children that although she understands their wanting to make or give her gifts, she as a child could not afford to give her teachers gifts and always felt bad when other students were able......she would love to be able to say that her students provided for the needy rather then shower her with gifts........

My sister a teacher for 20 years, loves this idea and is trying to get it started at her school......

So we gave canned goods, a completed card for a free turkey at the local store and some extras......
