Annoying Mall Kiosk People?

I do realize they have to make a living and they are selling very useful products... as well as I welcome all the different products they sell however, those pushy ones make going to the mall a pain. The worst ones are the countless cell phone people throwing their flyers and phones in your face and then yelling down the mall to get you to come listen to their deal and the flat iron people who have incredible BAD hair. who snap their flat iron in your face. I feel at times I was let loose in the haunted house with their hands and faces getting into my personal space.
I do realize they must have quotas and such however, it should not justify that type of very pushy behavior. Do you have that problem at your mall?

Yes, we do! Our most annoying ones are the hand lotion people. They stop you and want to put lotion in your hand and look at your nails!! I just say 'no thanks' and keep walking!

In the mall back home we have the hand lotion people too. The guys always try to get the girls to show their hands. I just walk on by. I do wonder if that stuff does work.
In the mall I live by where I go to school, there is none of that.

More and more people showing in the middle of the mall kiosks these days. I try to smile and say no thanks, because I do understand that this is their job. I do find that more often than not, if you just politely say no, or no thanks, they will leavel you alone. If you ignore them, then they get rude.

Unfortunately, the ones at my mall do not take a polite no or no thank you (I should say, the pushy ones don't...cell phone people and flat iron people and even sometimes the lotion people). They keep on asking you questions, trying to get you to buy their products, even when you also say, I already have the product .

When I read your title these people are the first i thought of. We have a kiosk at each end of the mall with the lotion people.

I am okay with them until they jump out at me from out of nowhere, or they will continue to follow me. Blech! The ones at my mall do not take no for an answer lol.

yup--hand lotion people are the worse here as well. I try and not to make eye contact. Most of the time they will ask how am I doing ? I will politely say " good, thanks" and go about my business.

Last year at the Mall of Georgia it got to be so bad (the people would walk with you trying to get you to test the lotion and head massagers) that I contacted the mall. I really felt that I was being harassed and that I was going to stop shopping at this mall since I have to pass another one to come there. Whoever I spoke to said that they would address the issue.
My daughter and I love to sit at Panera at Gwinnett Place and watch them!!! It annoys me and the Panera employees that they come in with their one time paid for cup and get drinks all day long.

Don't you just love the flat iron people. Why in the world would I let you use that thing on me??? Where has it been?? Isn't their some health code against using that thing on everyones hair? Besides my hair doesn't look that bad!!

I am lucky those people usually talk to me in Spainish. I don't speak it, so I just give them some dumb what look and keep walking.

I haven't been to our mall lately, all I know about is the lotion people. Our cell phone sellers seem very respectful and don't try to solicit business; they don't have to they always seem to be busy.

Don't you hate walking through the mall with your head down. I know they are doing what they are paid to do but they remind me of a telemarketer.

Please don't bother me I have ADD and if you distract me I will forget where I am going.

They always want to shine my nails. One time they guy stopped me and wanted to do my nails...mind you I chew my nails down to nothing so I showed him my nails totally embarassed thinking this will make him stop but he still wanted to do my stubs. Couldn't believe it. Actually the part I couldn't believe was I LET HIM DO IT.

I just look the other way (towards the side with the stores), and ignore them. If you say anything to them at all, than they babble about whatever it is they are selling, and you can't break away for at least 10 minutes. At least that has been my experience! Make no eye contact what-so-ever, and you'll be good! LOL! :O)

At our mall it is the hand lotion people - I go out of my way to avoid them and if they manage to get close to me I end up being rude and telling them to get away from me or I'll scream - I can't stand to be bothered. I am in the mall shopping and if I was looking for their stinky lotion I would stop and shop.

Also, the ones demonstrating toys annoy me - if DS is with me he wants to stop and play with the cheap crap toy. A few years ago it was the hoverdisc that is now in the Dollar Store.

Here it is people selling some kind of jewelry cleaner. They always say "Miss, give me your ring!" One day the guy wouldn't leave me alone, he kept saying "Come on, just give me your ring." (I don't even wear a ring) so I faked a huge meltdown of the "I'm 26 years old and I'm not even engaged! I don't have a ring!" variety and he left me alone for the rest of my shopping trip.

But seriously, I don't know what they've got in this miracle cleaner. If I *did* wear a ring, I sure as heck am not going to let some complete stranger drop it into some vat of mystery liquid.

I can't stand the harrassing kiosk people. If they catch my eye i usually just say no thank you in a very firm way and keep walking. I have been tempted to complain to the mall management. there are lots of kiosks in the mall but most of them leave you alone. it's just the nail shine, hair flattener, massage people. they are almost like gypsies.

Yes, they are getting on my nerves. I was actually at the mall this week and as they were screaming at me "Miss!" "Miss!" as I passed them by I said to myself I was going to complain. This posted reminded me of that. I mean, their product is right there in the open. If people are interested they will stop. I don't see the folks from Pottery Barn shouting down customers as they walk by.

Very good point Tessa. I think their behavior makes you not want to buy their products because they hassle you so much.

I can't begin to think when the last time was that I was in the mall here. I don't remember ever having been "attacked" as you all are describing, but I'm here to tell you, if someone would be as rude to me as what is being said, I'd have no choice but to return the rudness. And if someone reached to put their hands on me without being invited to, rude wouldn't be a good description. I would be forced to become physical in return, in the way of a good slap across the face.

I'm usually a very laid back person, but I definitely have my limits.

Lets see, in our very busy mall you have the Lotion people, The cell Phone people, the Jewelry people, the Speciality gifts for christmas people, the Toy people and need I say more. I just keep walking saying No Thanks through the halls. People probably think I am weird walking the halls constantly saying No Thanks. LOL I choose to go to our outside mall more often even though I have a longer drive there. They dont have these annoying people there. Luckily our mall looses alot of these little shops when the holidays are over. One thing to look forward to.

We have all of those mentioned above, but a new one is the nut people (seriously). They sell glazed nuts at their kiosk and they chase you down too. And, don't forget the people who try to stop you to take a survey. The cell phone never really bother me, they just wait for people to approach them with questions. The worst in our malls are the lotion people and the nut people. I also hate the people who sell incense and bamboo - not because they chase you down, but just because the stuff stinks! I always try to hold my breath when we walk by.

DH and I still joke about a kiosk that was at one of our malls a couple of Christmas's ago. They had some type of video game toys that you hooked right up to your tv and one of the games used a type of gun. They used to chase you down saying, with a heavy accent, "You want to shoot the gun? You want to shoot the gun?"

some of them i will give a chance and at least listen if im not in a hurry..

but the lotion/nail kiosk drive me nuts!
the last time i decided to have a look and see what this lady was yelling about
she had some little brick that is supposed to shine your nails..

i let her buff my finger nail .. then it started to burn like a SOB and i pulled my hand away
she said "oh see that happens when your nails are not healthy!"

i said - Noooo its called friction and you almost made a hole in my finger nail!
on the inside i wanted to knock her cart over .. but i just walked away uuhhggg
