Anymore "Old Timers" part 4

I'm so glad to see something like the old YFB back on Mycoupons. Thank you so much, Mycoupons. I still visited here over the last couple of years but it wasn't the same. It feels like coming home again!!
I remember a lot of the names from the other "old Timers" post. Anyone know what happened to shaylac (I think she had 3 girls & was pregnant w/a son when board shut down)? What about grlpwrd? What about painter? 3boysmommy? Deewheat?

I remember the crayon & the clover wars. Glad to be back. Thanks Mycoupons!!!

Another old timer here. As you can see, I don't post very often considering how long I've been around. I am also glad to see a "YFB like" board here again. After YFB shut down, I didn't visit MyCoupons for a long time. Recently though, I started visiting once in a while to check out the LWIF boards. Like I said, I'm glad to see this board.

Off topic, these rep points have me concerned - I feel like I have a big green "L" on my forehead ETA: Thanks devinmom - I no longer have an inferiority complex!

I've already checked in as an old timer ... here and in real life. This thread had me remembering Drugstore.com. In an attempt to take advantage of one of their great deals I ordered many, many boxes of feminine mini-pads. Christmas morning the postman parked in front of our house and literally ran up to the door, tossed this huge box onto the porch and ran back to his truck. I couldn't imagine what this was because of all the deals I'd taken advantage of and when I opened it and saw what was inside I felt so bad that that poor man had to work on Christmas day to deliver my sanitary napkins.

kkain,
I'm sure that he had other packages to deliver on Christmas Day, but that is one of the funniest stories I've read in a while.....imagine if he knew what was inside!

I am an oldtimer by anyone's standards - I've been a member since 1999! I am also glad to see this board back. I don't post a whole lot, but I've learned so much from these boards over the years. Here's to the oldtimers!!

Hey,

I think I qualify as an old-timer, although I do tend to come and go! I lurked for a bit before I joined in 98. I have gotten some of the BEST deals, learned to shop with coupons, and stockpile from these boards. It's been great. I, too, remember a million drugstore.com orders, as well as getting a lot of toys from amazon.com one year (maybe 99 or 2000). I also got the scoop on TRU holiday diapers going on major sale after Christmas from someone on this board. I think my son was still wearing Christmas diapers in May that year! Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm not a big poster, but I'm definately an old timer at MC.
I never left, I read MC each day, but the deals got so few and far between that I simply haven't had anything much to post about.

I'm not exactly an old timer, but I used to post somewhat frequently on the family board. I had been lurking though since proably around 2001.

I've been here since 1998!!! My join date says 1999 but there was a glitch in the system that year and it took off a year (of which I am NEVER one to complain about!)!!! To remember how hesitant I was about getting the internet.

I got spoiled in those days and got so many FREE items that it is now hard to read the boards and accept that I might actually have to PAY for a lot of the good deals.

Because of this, I have moved most of my posting to the MyCoupons Auction Talk Boards. We have a great group over there and I have learned so much. They are a teriffic group of patient and honest folks!

I'm still working through the stuff that I received from Mother Nature 5 years ago (in the freezer) and finally used up the makeup from another site. Dang, I took advantage!

I loved the sanitary napkins story... I had a delivery of Christmas lights by Airborne Express on Christmas Day from one of those Party supply websites. I thought *that* was embarrassing as they were being saved for the next year AND we lived rurally and so the driver had driven in for an hour in his pickup truck in order to deliver the package! I had gotten FREE shipping on it, oh my! Those poor guys.

I am an old-timer, too, but also a big-time lurker. Now that my kids are older, I hope to be more involved on this board. I never realized how "addicted" I was to the old YFB until it was gone. I am glad to see some familiar names back, and hope to see more in the coming days.

Gosh---I remember how scared I was to use my credit card number for my very first online purchase--it was something like $10 off $10 at drugstore.com. I ordered a lot from them, and got awesome free first-aid kits and Philosophy gift sets with my orders! Who remembers Value America? I got hundreds of dollars worth of free stuff for Christmas from that website on year ('99?), including our first DVD player. We were one of the first families around here to have one, and it was about $300!! And the same year, MCI gave $150 Amazon codes for switching your long distance service. We have two lines, so we had $300 to spend at Amazon! And then there was ratingwonders.com, where you got free Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Me and my dh didn't even LIKE coffee then, but we had so much of it, we started drinking it! To this day, we're both still partial to DD coffee!! Ahh....those were the days, my friends!

OMG I forgot about ratingwonders.com. Since I am a huge coffee addict that was a fantastic deal for me!
I was having it sent to my son's since I was generally babysitting over there all day every day.
Coffee started arriving every day!
One day I was leaving and saw the delivery truck in my rear view mirrow turning into my son's street.
I turned around and headed straight back.. that was my coffee you know!

ahh those days are over.

YEP, my family gave me very strick lectures about NOT putting even my real name any place online, let alone a credit card.
But after many months of watching such fantastic deals slide past me, I caved and an internet shopper I became.

Thank goodness I did, since I'd have stores to rate for the coffee!

Maybe I missed her post, but does anyone remember the woman who lived in or around New Orleans, she was always having problems with her yard or something. I think she was even on tv or in the news or something(I remember seeing her pic online is some article she posted). She was a bit off beat but I always thought her posts were funny and straightforward. Sorry I can't remember her name at all, anyone know who I'm talking about or where she is now?

I guess I am an old-timer. I have never been a prolific poster though. I hope this board brings back some of the magic that was lost through all of the changes over the last several years.

Hey! Nice to see you again. I used to live down in Bartlett, now back in MI. I still remember when we had that horrible wind storm there and I came back online to find a post from you asking about me (if I was ok and if anyone heard from me). It made me feel good that someone I didn't know in real life was concerned for my well being.

Another "ole timer " here. Actually, I've been here since 1998 but somehow seem to have lost a year in the upper right corner.

I do remember the ratingwonders.com and the DD coffee. I think my freezer was half full of it at one time.
And ALL those freebies back then was great. I still have a dresser drawer full of t-shirts.
And the freebie withdrawals afterwards.

Also remember when MC had a "chat" area. That was nice too.

I miss how things used to be and a lot of the people who were here at one time....but time does move on.

Old timer here. I've been registered for about four years but lurked before then. Hope this is not a repost - I had posted before but neglected to send email so I think it was deleted. It's nice to see all the "old" names. I didnt post that much but do remember a few who did. Sammy - the decorator, always had a project going, very talented. jculler who always had the words for netflip and searchcactus and stbernadette who had so many medical problems. As I see your names being posted I am remembering more. we did have some fun on these boards and some great deals.

Hi! I've been around since 1999 when dd was born and I was nursing all the time (and I do mean ALL the time) and was trying to find something to do while she nursed. So I surfed the web and found MC, the Best find I ever made online. I have never been a big poster. First, because I was nursing and only had one hand to use so mainly just used the mouse. And then, because I don't get out a lot to find the deals everyone else does and because I've got social anxiety .

I sure do appreciate everything I've learned here. I started out reading the TOT board mainly and then broadened out to the others. The stockpiling tips I've learned here have helped my family so much as well as the surveys, I can't believe how much I've been able to contribute financially from that (I mean, not a full-time income or anything, but the checks always seem to come when we need them the most). The last 2 years dh's work (I'm a SAHM) has been very sporadic and MC made it so we have been able to survive it and dd wouldn't have had very good b-day's or Christmas' without MC these last 2 years. So I thank all of you very, very much!

God bless everyone and have a Merry Christmas!

Jenn
