Little green dots under rep power

Okay, I understand(I think) what rep power means, but what are the little green dots under it? Mine went from like 4 to more than double the little green dots... I'm confused. And I don't post as much as I should, but I read all the time, you guys have helped me save(spend)so much money!
Thanks
Becky

You aren't alone!
I still haven't figured out those green spots either! Some are darker green that others?

I know that after you get up to the 50 posts you will see your rep points.

So it's because I'm not that much of a talker, so I don't get to see my rep points? Hmmm... I'd better start replying to everything just so I can see my #...

From what I can gather(but may be totally wrong about this), the green dots show your rep level. We all seem to have varying numbers and darknesses of green dots because we all are "nice" and don't have bad reps. I think if a person starts to get bad rep points their dots will turn red letting other people know that this person may be a troll, spammer, or just not a nice person. That's my take on the whole thing, sound right?

I don't have a clue either . I'm just glad to know I'm not alone. Mine look so puny compared to everyone elses and I've been a member and posting for a long time.

Yours aren't puny compared to mine, LOL!
It's kind of a fun aspect of the board to me. I love watching the points go up, especially when you give someone rep points and they instantly go up....cool!

I think you may have to post more so people can get to "know" you before they will give you points.

So is each reply considered a post, or is each time you start a new thread considered a post? Anyone know?

I should have said the rep points are given for a post that we like.

But we do want to get to "know" you too.
If no one posted then there would be no MC to read, so start posting!
Even if you just add a Thank You to a post.

So glad I'm not alone in not knowing what the little green dots are for. I don't post that often because I tend to be a thread killer..lol
I've been trying to post more so I can be more active here on Mc

You all know so much, so another question... So until I have 50 posts, I can't give people any feedback on their rep power as well, right?

Wow, I just went back to look at my rep power. I've been on this board for years, but haven't been around much lately.

I have a total of ONE dot.

The whole thing is confusing to me as well.

People give you power on a specific post? Is there a way to tell? I went from nothing and then suddenly i have some. I just am not sure why or from what or who these points appeared. Do people get default power?

Oh well, why should anything in my life be simple lately.

Okay, I don't get it either. Yesterday I only had a Rep Power of 120 with one green dot, and look at me today!?!? I'm so lost.

I suppose someone clicked on you? I clicked on BarbM's 'rep power' thing, said I approved of her post, and it went from one to a bunch. (I do approve, but is that all there is to it?)

If you go to the top of the page you will see a bar (mine is blue) that says;
User CP - FAQ Members List - etc.
Click on the User CP and scroll down on the page that comes up. You will see who gave you rep points.

It is for when you approve of a post that someone posted. Helps build "reputation" amongst other members. From my understanding you can see who has given you rep points by clicking on CP on the upper left of your pages. Wonder where I am? I don't post very often so I think I am low.

So in other words the higher your number the better your "rep" is?
How do you give a person more "rep" power? What do you click.
I see that I am now up higher than I was. Thanks

Thanks for the info., Sherry P.S. I love the icon by your name.

At the top of each post by members there is a number (I think that is the number of posts in the thread), right next to that there is a scale. Click on the scale and you can say approve or disapprove a post. I have not put in comments but you can do that too. Not sure if anyone can read a comment or not. Would think you could since it is there.

Thanks anout the icon. I wish they would get more. I love so many different things, like a pretty rose or something.

I just now noticed the green dot next to they posters name. Some are blue and some are green. Does the green mean that poster is online?

If you put your cursor over the dot it will tell you that someone is or is not online right now.

Because, whenever you give somebody rep, whatever points you have go over to them as well. Like right now I have 1200149971 rep points, which is ridiculous.....lol....... but if I give you rep you would increase by the same 1200149971 that I have. Make sense??

Yes makes sense but it makes the whole thing sort of phony, I guess it truly is meaningless, thanks for explaining.

I always thought I had a good reputation (IRL at least) but apparently since it has been a very long time since I visited this board...my reputation is pitiful. Oh well, guess I need to post more so you all know I do not have a "bad" reputation. Boy, you must look at my rep points/dots and then my posts and think I am a horrible person. Great...just great.

I finally understand the rep points thing but must not be playing well with others because the last time I looked I really didnt have any at all! I guess I need to make a point to give them to others as well, sometimes I just forget.

Darlene

ETA: Mine is up a bit it must have just happened recently because the last time I looked I had very few!
