We are having a get-together at our house this weekend and I would like to have some games for the adults to play. There will be 4 couples. What are your favorite store bought games? Thanks!

Scategories is my all time favorite! My friends husband says it hurts his brain, but we always have a lot of laughs from it. Taboo and Guesstures are also great group games. I have heard that Catch phrase is lots of fun, but haven't played it yet. I got Trivial Persuit totally 80's for a friend, but haven't played it yet. We figured this is one Trivial persuit we should probably be able to answer the questions to! Has anyone played it yet? I would love to hear what you think about it.

Strip poker is usually a winner.......JUST KIDDING!!

What about the new Trivial Pursuit 80s version? That looked like fun to me. Well, that is if you are gonna rule out the strip poker idea....LOL

I was kind of afraid to open this thread....you know....adult party games? I knew some people who used to get together. The men would put their keys in a basket and the women would choose a key. You get it.

I didn't hang around with them....just in case you were wondering.

I am 37 -stb 38 and we love Trivial persuit 80's! We also like good 'ol fashion YATZEE!

How about Cranium? Our neighboorhood plays it all the time.

Apples to Apples is fun as well....

We played Fact or Crap this summer at a family reunion and it was fun. All ages played-11 to 55. My DS loved it because he got to say CRAP and not get into trouble!

I second Balderdash. I have Peed my pants ( Literally) two times playing this game!

Our pastor loves board games. He told me that Fact or Crap is his favorite. At the time I had never heard of it and the name surprised me a little when he said it. Maybe he likes it for the same reason as your son!

Yeah, how DO you play Balderdash?

We always have liked Balderdash. I also love playin' texas hold em and 31. (We're gamblers, lol) Pictionary is always a good standby as well. (especially when you have an easal)

Another favorite is Loaded Questions. It's a great game for couples that know each other pretty well. (edited to add: 'or so they think they know each other really well, lol)

We play Guesstures a lot in our neighborhood and that is fun - fast moving and keeps everyone laughing. We've also played Apples to Apples and Scene It - both are fun, but not quite as fast-paced as Guesstures.

Balderdash is the game of love, life and LIES.

Basically, one person reads a word that no one has ever heard of- but that happens to be a real word. Like Pertikwiny. The person reading the word then writes down the REAL definition, while everyone else makes UP a definition. The reader then collects them all, and reads them, including the REAL definition. Everyone then votes on what THEY think the REAL definition is. Yoy get points if someone thinks YOURS is the real one, and if you GUESS the real one. It is HYSTERICAL.

We are having a couples night this weekend too, and doing a Sweetheart's quiz, and playing catch phrase... The sweetheart's quiz just has questions for men and women such as, "Now that you've been married for a while, will your wife say marriage is: (a) exactly what she expected; (b) not what she expected; (c) a real eye opener... Just lots of questions like that, it's really fun to play with other couples that you think you know.

I second Apples to Apples. Mad Gab is a great game to.

We have always had the best time playing Catch Phrase, with adults of all ages, family and friends. Also Twister can be fun if the people are comfortable with each other (or a little bit tipsy!)

Can I just ask, what is an Adult party, LOL? Haven't had an adults only party since we all had kids. Sounds FUN.

apples to apples is fun although I haven't played it in awhile.

I saw "adult games" and wondered what people were going to say LOL I actually like some of the *adult* games like passing the lifesaver around on a toothpick...but those are fun when you have more than 4 couples
