Question about facial hair

I have a little bit of peachfuzz on my upper lip and I wasn't self conscious about it until one of my husband's smartmouthed friends said something about it. What do you use to get rid of facial hair and how often do you get rid of it and if you shave it does it come back thicker? Thanks for any input.

I actually have this same problem .. and I shave mine about once a month .. it did not come back darker or thicker .. it is actually lighter now .. I can usually feel it when i rub my lips together ... i think that it is Nair that makes a bleaching cream for it ... I have never tired it though ... I did wax it ONCE .. OMG that is so painful ... worse than having your eyebrows done and I did get a rash after the fact .. i would just shave it .. LOL

I have light hair and just a little hair. Nothing major, but I could see it up close. In makeup, I doubt anyone else noticed it. I use the Nair for face cream every few weeks. Works perfectly. HTH! I wouldn't try to wax it either. I know what you mean..ouch. I would worry about the effects of shaving, but others here have tried it. Hmm....

I wouldn't advise shaving it. My sister started that and now has to do it every day. I have always waxed it. It stays off for a few months that way. I have PCOS and that is a very common thing with that.
You can make your own "nads" hair remover. They used to sell nads on tv for like $20 or more, but a few years back someone on here had a recipe. I can try and look it up or you could google it. It is simple to make and works like a charm! It only takes sugar, honey and lemon juice.
Good luck!

Wax it definately!!!! It is not very painful if done correctly. Go to Sally's and get their micro wax and the strips. Use according to directions. It's also a good idea to do with a friend. The anticipation is much worse than the actual process. And the strips make it waaaay easier.

I have been bothered by facial hair most of my life. I cannot use the lotions and stuff because I will break out or get a skin burn. I tried the shaving and hate the way the hair grows back so rough. I have found these and love love them www.facialhairthreading.com. When I order them I thought these can't work. Then I got them in the mail and I thought well you throw that money away, but they work so good. It does sting a little like using tweezers, but it pulls so many hairs at one time that you get use to it. I love not having to shave, I finally have nice smooth skin. I even let my husband touch my face now something I have never like.

That was me! I'll go find the recipe and post it. I've never tried it on my face but it works great on my legs. The best thing about it is that it's all natural - just sugar, honey and lemon juice. Let me see if I can find it and I'll be back

Sugar Technique

Here's the recipe for homemade Nads or Sugaring.

Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey

Combine in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir and microwave 20-30 seconds more. Let it cool till it is warm and you can spread a thin strip onto your skin (I use a popsicle stick). Make sure your skin is clean and dry. Cover the thin strip with a strip of cotton fabric. Rub the strip three times in the direction of the hair growth, then PULL THE SKIN TAUT, take a deep breath, and pull the cotton strip against the direction of hair growth. So if the hair is growing down, you pull the strip up.

If you're doing a large area, you may have to reheat the mixture for 10-15 seconds once in a while.

This stuff keeps forever as well. I store it in a small take-out soup container like the ones you get from a Chinese restaurant.

Good luck and happy hair removal

I agree with waxing/sugaring. It doesn't hurt very much at all and now that I've been doing it for a few years I hardly feel a thing. Lasts a long time too and gives even results. Get the prewaxed strips-easy to use and come in sizes suited for your face.

I wouldn't shave because I'd be afraid of razor burn, nicking myself(I'm the queen of "blood sacrifices" when shaving my legs)or getting an ingrown hair.

I enjoy going to Spa Sydell and getting my brows and upper lip done.
(It is a great way to relax and pamper yourself AND it is the cheapest thing to have done there!!)
It only hurts for a moment and it lasts longer than at home creams.
I do NOT recommend Nair wax strips that are new. They gave out samples and this thing is no good.
The creams are okay, but I have the Sally Hansen (sp?) kind.

Laser hair removal is the best way to go. Takes a few sessions, then maybe one a year after that (been several years and I've not had to do it again in that area). I'm having to do it again for my chin, thanks to the meds my dr. put me on for 1 month!

Does the length of hair matter on this?

The reason I ask is I tried it when hair was rather long. I had been using Nair with no problems, then after the 5th use I developed red scabs on my legs in several spots. I had to stop using it and let them heal up. I couldn't do anything for a couple of weeks. I tried the actual Nads and NOTHING came off. Not one hair.

So I was wondering if it's better for the hair to be real short first?

Thanks!

I've found that it works well if the hair is about 1/4 inch long. If the hair is shorter than that or very long, the mixture doesn't work as well.

I leave it up to the professionals. I go to the salon every 6-8weeks for my lip & brows. $14 plus a small tip . 5 mins. and im done. no clean up required.
i have to tell you, i was chatting with my lip lady a couple months ago. she said a lot of people have little black "witch" hairs on their chins. "THEY can't see it, but everybody else can!" of course , i ran home directly and made dh examine my chin for hairs. luckily, it wasn't a hint. that would've been an embarrassing way to find out.

The joys of being a brunette! I have always had dark hair on my upper lip. I would bleach until my Junior year in high school. My cousin made a comment in front of the entire class about how my mustache was normally dark, but now it is light. How embarrasing! (She was obviously a blonde)

I have used Nair cream for face. Keep it on for 8 minutes, followed by a warm water rinse, then a cold water rinse, dry, and then apply a moisturizer. Keeps the redness away. And keeps the hair away. I do this approx every 10 days, or when I realize I am getting a bit too furry for my own liking.

DH just rolls his eyes at me. And my son just looks at me wierd (I don't keep it a secret that I use the Nair - I still walk around the house like always).
