What was your favorite Christmas gift as a child?

The ones that stand out in my mind are that Chrissy doll I HAD to have, a darling tin doll stroller, a talking big bird, a pair of cowgirl boots and a pair of roller skates.

What were your favorites? Anyone still have theirs? I still have the skates, the cowgirl boots, and WISH I had the tin stroller.

First cabbage patch doll. I remember that they seemed so expensive. I knew there was a santa after I got that.. How could my parents afford that?

When I was 5 a few weeks before Christmas, my parents closed and locked the door to my playroom. Of course they took the toys out first! Anyway, over the next few weeks I'd hear noises, like sawing and hammering. My brother would tease me and say it was a horse! LOL He'd even take an apple and go in while closing the door carefully behind him so I couldn't see and then he stomp around and make neighing sounds. I'd hear my mother (who was inside the playroom working) tell him to stop teasing me. I'd be on the outside jumping up and down yelling, "Is it a horse, is it a horse?" Like I said I was 5!

Christmas moring I walked out and found a dollhouse that my parents had made by hand!! Down to the kitchen sink. It was the best Christmas I've ever had and I played with it for hours. I still have it, but it's in the attic at my parents house. I always said if I ever had a little girl I'd fix it up with my Mom and give it to her for her 5th Christmas, but I have 3 boys. Which is why it's still in Mom's attic, cuz if I bring it home they will destroy it! One of these days I'll have a place to put it. Right now I have no space and it's too priceless to risk being torn up.

An etch-a-sketch. My parents looked all over one year for it, but it was sold out. Finally got it and I loved that thing!

I always loved getting Barbie dolls...There was one called Stacey (late '60's or early 70's) that I loved...But my all-time favorite doll was Chrissy...in the orange dress...you turned the knob on her back and it made her hair grow...I wish I still had her! ~Lisa

That was HER!!! The same one I got! I loved that hair thing, I think I did it too much until it finally wouldn't move anymore. Wonder where she is now...probably in the landfill. I loved that doll and she was so BIG! I was probably 5 or 6 or so when I got her. I'll never forget that Christmas.

I was about 6 or 7 years old, my dad was stationed in Korea that year, and my most favorite gift was a Coppertone stove/oven and refrigerator (it was metal, this was the 60's, LOL). Years later I found out my mom had stayed up all night putting these things together. My other favorite gifts that year was a real Korean outfit that my dad had made for me while he was there, also 3 dolls, the glass cases the dolls were in broke during shipping though. I still have the dolls and the outfit (I lost the rubber shoes that go with the outfit though).

Chrissy was a big favorite! I had her and my sister had Velvet, the blonde doll with the purple velvet dress!

A few years ago, I bought a Chrissy doll for myself and a Velvet for my sister on Ebay. Our daughters love to play with them, and it makes us both laugh to see them again.

And my mother kept NOTHING, her theory always being there was someone else who had less. If you took off your skates, one of her friend's daughters would be rolling down the street the next day! You have to laugh!!
