Smile Holiday Happy Happenings....

We're all stressed, for time, money, 6 more hands to get everything done...

I thought it might be nice if we can think of a few happy things going on in our days to share, in the hope it could give someone else a moment to catch their breath when they reach their breaking point!

For instance...

Today I worked the Secret Shop at the Elementary School. I expected the kids to bombard us with requests to buy treats for themselves, but instead I found all these little ones putting soooo much thought into what would make each person on their shopping list happy!! They were so delighted with themselves when they found just the perfect gift, especially for mom or dad, and full of plans to hide their special gifts away till the gift exchange in their homes.

AND I fixed the lights on my tree so they stop blowing out!!

It IS so uplifting to "catch" kids enjoying the spirit of giving!! I was glad to come accross your post.

My oldest (going on 8), who routinely makes lists of all the things she wants for Christmas, shifted gears, and asked if we can go Christmas caroling this year! I was thrilled - I'm a little nervous about actually singing on a doorstep, but I was so touched that it occurred to this one child to do something in the Christmas spirit that has nothing to do with getting.

So this family is polishing up our 3 favorite carols...

Also, my local post office has been easily accessible, and the workers there have been particularly friendly and helpful!

That's so great!! I don't have the courage to go carolling (and I suspect there would be tomatoes thrown if I did), but what a fun thing for your family!

My sister is having a lot of fun with my niece, who just turned 6. Last year she put a "sleigh bell" from Santa's sleigh in her stocking. The other day they watched the Polar Express, and her d/d ran up to get her sleigh bell. My sister and her husband pretend they can't hear it, like in the movie, and her daughter is out of her mind with excitement.

That is so sweet! What a wonderful memory your niece will have when she is grown.

I got the lights/ garland and the unbreakable ornaments on my tree last night. Even with the help of the decoration inspector (the 8 month old cat Simba). I do need to buy some ornament hooks for the breakable ones.

My house smells so nice from the tree.
