Let's Compliment The Good People

Today I was in Kroger and was so angry!!
A MAN in the self serve line was screaming, demading the self serve cashier do it, and then started cursing. The cursing started with the machine then to the associate and then to the store. He then threw up his hands (still cursing) and walked out of the store only to turn around to tell the cashier what she could kiss.
I was so angry that I approached him in the parking lot to tell him that he was setting a real good example for his children. He only slammed his car door and sped away. I did not care if this was a VERY large angry man either.
(He was with 2 boys one about 8 and the other about 16)
I was just angry so I called the manager to tell him that this cashier needed to be commended since she NEVER once lost her cool, NEVER once took an attitude.
The manager told me that they get so many people that take their frustrations out on the cashiers there and it is only getting worse with the holidays. He said that he takes sooooo many phone calls from customers complaining and very seldom it is about something good.
Let's all take time out to compliment the good associates out there that take this kind of abuse.
(The manager also told me that he tells his staff to go by the golden rule and to treat people the way you want to be treated. This cashier certainly showed that!!)

This is a great post. Especially around the holidays. I always try to either fill out the comment form, if they have one or email a company. I do it when I get bad service and also when I get good service. Sometimes I call the manager but I would rather email them or their corporate to let them know what a great employee they have. It's nice when someone notices that you are doing your job well and that makes you happier doing it.

I was cashier and you would not believe the way some people go off on you..over minor incidences. Especially around the holidays, yes, and also when the seasons change for some reason.

I love giving compliments to managers about their staff or employees. If someone rough or rude was in line before me, I usually will ask the cashier to call the manager before we are done rining up my total. I tell them that nothing is wrong, that I want to give a "kudos". They look at me like I am crazy, but call the manager for me. When the manager comes up front, I tell them about my positive experience in their store and that the employee was gracious when the customer was not.

This is a great thread! Let's remember that even cashiers have feelings too

I had a wonderful cashier tonight at the grocery store. I had left my checkbook in the car, my son didn't have his card so he walked (slowly) out to the car for the checkbook. I apoligized to the cashier and when others approached the line I told them I left the payment in the car and we had a slight delay. 2 people thanked me and got in other lines, one lady stuck it out and was so nice. My cashier thanked me for giving her a small break.
