goody bag help please

Hiya everyone. DS 3rd/4th split classroom is having their Christmas party next week and we have been given the task of providing 29 goodie bags.
Money is so tight right now. What in the world am i suppose to put in there. I have the goodie bags allready. I got them at the dollar tree. They are about 7 inches tall. What can i put in there thats not going to be too expensive? So far each bag has a christmas themed pencil, small dum dum sucker, pixie stick, minautre candy cane (the kind that come on a long strip and you cut them apart.) the bags look so lame so far. I was thinking about having ds who is 9 help me make the applesauce cinnamon ornaments this weekend and put one in each bag and maybe right the year 2006 on it. is that tacky?? does anyone know how many i would get out of a single batch of the applesauce/cinnamon mixture? what ideas does eveyone have?
thank you so much for any help

Are you a member of Sams club? I would recommend you put a drink box at the bottom of each bag (about .15 cents each and they take up a LOT of room) and then uy the 36 ct. animal crackers for $6.xx and call it good-between what you already have, that only adds another .30 per child and definitely bulks up the bag.

Hey,
You can put little baggies of reindeer food. (quick oats and glitter or crushed candy cane, or peppermints if you fear someone would try and eat it... ) with the instuctions to sprinkle in the yard the night of to attract them.

You can make Jingle bell necklaces (yarn and a jingle bell) The bells come multiple to a package for cheap.

Also, I will share the "Christmas Riddles' we're using in my kid's class if you want to print and stuff those in there. You get 4 to a sheet and I use white card stock but you could use just plain paper. You could use Christmas colored paper and that would infuse some color into your bags if you wanted. Or you could roll them up scroll like and tie with a ribbon...

Anyway, if you want the four already "blocked" out you can email me at scuser5@gmail.com and I'll send it to you in .pdf form ready for you to open and print.

Here are the Riddles... Cheesy but kids love em!

What do elves learn in school?
The Elf-a-bet!

What is the difference between the Christmas alphabet
and the ordinary alphabet?

The Christmas Alphabet has No-L (Noel)!

What Christmas Carol is a favorite of Parents?
Silent Night!

Why does Santa have 3 gardens?
So he can hoe, hoe, hoe!

What do snowmen eat for breakfast?
Frosted Flakes of course!

What do you get when you cross a snowman
with a vampire?

FrostBite!

What did the ghost say to Santa?
I’ll have a “boo” Christmas without you!

What does a cat on a beach have in common
with Christmas?

Sandy Claws!

Which color candle burns longer?
A red candle or a green one?

Neither, Candles burn shorter!

Hope this helps!

X

Forgot to add... to find the reindeer food tags to print, just google Reindeer Food.. lots will pop up..

but the one I'm most fond of is the following...

Make a Wish and close your eyes tight,
Then sprinkle on your lawn at night.
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This food will guide them to your home!
For your gift to the reindeer and Rudolf
will give them strength for their next take off!
Merry Christmas!

That is nice of you to get everyone something.

This might take up some room as well. The same website has 'Snowman Poop' which would be less expensive and also take up a lot of room. I'd ask the teacher first but if it's a no-go...it's still a great stocking stuffer!! Hope I'm not too late. Is the party today??????

Reindeer Poop :

Place a handful of malted milk balls (cheap ones from Dollar Tree) and candy cookie sprinkles in a zipper food storage bag and then affix the following poem.

You can find a really cute printable gift card at the following link (click on 'print view' near the bottom)- http://organizedchristmas.com/printa...oto/89/cat/502

Here's the poem that is on the gift tag:
I woke up with such a scare when I heard Santa call...
"Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!"
I ran to the lawn, and in the snowy white drifts,
those nasty reindeer had left "little gifts".

I got an old shovel and started to scoop
Neat little piles of "reindeer poop."
but to throw them away seemed such a waste,
So I saved them, thinking you might like a taste!

As I finished my task, which took quite a while,
Old Santa passed by and he sheepishly smiled.
And I heard him exclaim as he rose to the sky~~~
"Well, they're not potty trained, but at least they can fly!"

My 8 and 4 year old gd did this last year. It was in a baggy tied with a ribbon and the poem to it. It only had the dry oatmeal in it. They couldn't wait till it was almost bedtime to sprinkle it out on the front lawn.

We also have to make goody bags for DD's party this week. I am just putting candy and stickers in ours, I had gotten several bags of candy marked down to .20 each after Halloween, mostly hard candy, Charms suckers, Toootsie pops and bubble gum. American Greetings makes a pack of stickers with 10 sheets in the pack. Then I am going to buy some Christmas type chocolate to add to the bags.

I was goign to suggested putting a lunch bag sized item in the bags as well.
When you tie them slip a bell on the curling ribbon.

I just thought of this! What about those Little Debbie Christmas themed cakes? They come in shapes of trees and wreaths and such. Plus they are only $1.00 for a pack of 8 or 10, that would take up alot of space, plus it's something they could eat later since it is pre-wrapped. I do like the reindeer food idea though!

How about those tiny bottle of bubbles like you see at weddings? The Dollar store carries them. I think you get like 20/box for $1! Tie some pretty red or green ribbon on them and voila! christmas bubbles!

PS..this is what I'm planning to do. I needed a "filler" to make DS's bags look a little fuller

wow everyone thank you so much for all of the awesome ideas! The party is this upcoming wednesday. I was at our local meijers on saturday for their super saturday sale. They had hershey kisses on sale buy 2 bags get 2 free. I had those things in the cart when i made my way back to the reduced area. Back there i found the huge bags of mixed candy items from halloween. the party mix type bags they were marked to 99 cents. They had sweet tarts, smarties, bubble gum and tootsie rolls in there. The were NOT in any kind of halloween wrappers. just the regualr wrappers. So I bought two of those huge bags they also had hersheys kisses from halloween i suppose since they were in red, silver, orange and brown wrappers. I bought two bags of those. I have been letting the kids,dh and my self too LOL.. eat the brown and oranged wrappered kisses, leaving only silver and red wrapped ones for the gooy bags. I put back the buy 2 get 2 kisses since the other ones were by far a better bargain. The little debbie idea is a great idea too. Still havent got the juice boxes for them yet but noticed our meijers has nestle hot cocoa on sale. these are the 8-10 count variety. I was thinking of putting a hot cocoa in there instead of the juices. The hot coca would only set me back about 3 dollars. I feel so much better about what to put in there now since talking to all ya guys. The bags are going to be really good when done. Ds is so stoked. He is going to help me put together the reindeer food bags.

Thankyou exhausted for taking the time to email me the jokes in the format for printing I really appreciate it
