You need to buy it so he won't be dissapointed. He can always use a second set of cars and well the movie I guess you can either donate it to someone of give to a friend who maybe doesn't have this. I feel your pain and have been through this similar situation a few times but the Magic of Santa goes by too fast so cherish that big smile on Christmas morining.

I would not buy it. I would put a note from Santa saying I saw that you already have what you asked for so I got you something to go with it. Then get something that ties in with the movie. When my dd was small she asked for a Boo doll from Monsters Inc. They were the hot gift and you could not find one. A note from Santa and another gift was just fine with her.

I was totally leaning toward buying it. Now I might do the letter thing. Last year he got a letter from Mrs. Claus to exchange his binkies for a blanket that she gave him so it's not totally foreign to him.

Our kids don't always get what they want from Santa. A lot of times they do, but this year my daughter asked for a bike and she's getting one for her birthday later in the year. She also asked for a certain sled & the 2nd Pirates movie, which she is getting. But it won't make them not believe in Santa, they will just know they don't always get what they want! Lisa

I would not buy it. Maybe you could get him some other kind of toys with the Cars movie theme and a note from Santa. I have my boys make a list of several things that they want Santa to bring and we tell them that santa will pick what he has in his toy shop and to not expect to get everything. They have never complained so it works for us |

He won't miss it.. he'll be busy with the other things he has. If he mentions it just say, "Well, Santa and I discussed it, and we decided that since you already have those things he would surprise you with a (Cars shirt.. or whatever) instead." My kids know that they can ask Santa for anything.. but Mommy might tell him it's not a good idea. I'm not sure I would write a note.. it will just draw more attention to it.

I agree on not getting it if money is tight and you already have it, I would suggest getting something of a cars theme that he doesn't already have with the note, that way it acknowledges his request and it also shows that sometimes you get something similar. About two years ago my DD asked for one of those dogs that walked and barked and the whole nine yards well she asked for it from santa on christmas eve, with us also being in FL for christmas, away from our home she was also worried about him not finding us so my DH and older DD went out looking all over town for something similar they ended up buying a smaller version and DD was quite happy with that even though it wasn't exactly what she wanted.
