Question Did you put Christmas on a credit card or pay cash?

I was wondering if most of us used credit cards or cash for Christmas? I used cash for most things, but I did have to charge a couple of items, like DH's Hornets ticket package and DD's American Girl dolls. I hope to pay them of as soon as the bill comes, there just wasn't any other way to get the items without using a credit card.

I almost always put everything on credit. That way if a return/exchange is needed, it's a lot easier. MUCH easier if you want cash back too. The thing is, we put away cash for xmas and keep it. Then we deposit it when we are ready to pay the bill. We don't carry any balances from xmas

I was going to say the same thing. I put everything on the Credit Cards, but when the bill comes due, I pay it off. I hate owing anything to anyone, and I especially hate making payments all year from Christmas.

I charge everything I can. That way if there's a problem, I have the credit card company on my side. I also get reward points from my cards, so I get a little something back on all my spending.

I did most of my shopping online so I charged almost all of it. I think I still have about $300 left to pay

I shop yearround, so most of the stuff we pay cash for. I did do one big shopping spree at Toys 'R Us and opened their charge account for 10% off and no intrest, no payments for 6 months, so I do have that $300+ to pay off this spring. I will never actually use the card except for Christmas, but I do like the 10% off discount.

We have a hard time paying things off after we rack them up, so I try not to use credit cards much at all.

We pay cash for everything which makes me so happy. Being able to do that with 4 kids is a great feeling. I just will never go the credit card route again. Love cash!!

Cash except 1 gift for my friend that I bought at bath and body works but it was only $40 and will be paid off next month.
I buy all year and only pick up last minute items close to Christmas.

We use credit only in the case of extreme emergency. I'll be da&*3d if Iam going to pay someone 18-23% interest on their money when my money in the bank cannot even earn 3%.
People do not realize the price (financially) they are paying for credit.

I look for gifts throughout the year and go to 50% off sales during the season. There is no reason to go into debt or to pay triple the price of something (when you figure in the interest). That is NOT what Christmas is about.

I use my MasterCard debit card to purchase everything as credit and it gets deducted like cash from my account. I collect rewards points; 1 point for every dollar purchased. I love this! I just cashed my last few months points in for a 140.00 gift card to Walmart. That was spend on something that I won't be returning, groceries.

Cash! We don't own any credit cards. We did take an advance from our checking account, but it was paid back out of the following paycheck.

American Express credit card... We earn a percentage back as a rebate. I pay off every month so it is basically like paying cash since we never accumulate interest charges.

So, we *made* money by using our credit card like some of the other posters up above!

Ditto. Pay for everything that I possibly can with credit cards, but carry no balance and pay no fees or interest.

Double ditto! We charge EVERYTHING, pay it off every month - don't care what the interest rates are because we never pay any and earn tons of frequent flyer miles! We only have on credit card and we've all 4 gone to Florida 3 times, California twice and Hawaii all on free miles!

I always use my debit card as a credit card. That way I know that I do not have to look at a bunch of bills January and that in the end I do not have to pay MORE for them than they were.
BUT one day that I was out and was at a register I found out that I had left my card in my coat so I had to use my only other credit card. URG ~ I already warned my husband about it since I had to make 5 big stops that day.

I only use a credit card that has no annual fee, gives me rebates back on everything I buy, and pay it off monthly so no finance charges
