"Airborne"; do you think it works?

I felt a head cold coming on last night... Had the scratchy throat, sore muscles, tired. I put one tab of the lemon/lime Airborne in water, drank it, and felt better about 30 minutes later.

It has worked a number of times in the past. I love the stuff but no one else in my family feels like I do about it (taste? LOL!).

Does it really work or is it the placebo effect?

Thoughts?

What are the ingredients in it? I am curious about this, I have never used it, but my boss swears by it. The problem with this is my boss is sick all the time. I am sick right now, first time in 6 months I have been sick, I would love to have something to knock it out.

From the bottle: www.airbornehealth.com

It tells the ingredients on the website if you click on Products and then choose a product. Note the vitamins included and see where it says "Herbal Extract Proprietary Blend".

I buy at Walmart for less than $5 for one tube of 10 tablets. 10 will last a long time. It's at almost every store now.

Hope that helps. It is awful to be sick... Hope you feel better!

I hear Dr. Dean Adele (sp?) talk about this on the radio a bit ago, at the time they were being forced to change the labeling on their packaging because it is not proven to be effective & the wording was very misleading.

I have pretty good success with zicam, although it doesn't stop every cold, it gets a good 2 out of 3, completely stops them! Trick is..you have to use is the MINUTE you feel the slightest hint of a cold coming on, if you wait too long there isn't much point. Another tip on zicam..at least for the spray..read the directions, you do NOT snort this up your nose! Your spray it in your nose, hold the nostrils together for 5 seconds, then blow it out. I will never forget how bad it hurt when I sucked it up the first time!

We just started using Airborne. Seems to be working. Inlaws have colds and we were with them on and off for 3 days and all 4 of us just drank the stuff each mrning. One DS sounded stuffy one morning but by afternoon was fine. Could just be placebo effect but I'm glad we had it.

We swear by it here. I used to get sick everytime I flew somewhere. I would come home and be sick for weeks. Now we all take Airborne before we leave and again befoere the trip back and knock on wood none of us have gotten sick since. If someone comes over and has a cold we drink Airborne after they leave and again so far so good.

I've used it in the past and it really works as long as you take it at the first sign of a cold. Regular vitamin c will do the same thing though and is probably cheaper. You just take 1000 mg a couple of times a day and drink a lot of water.

My grandmother swears by this stuff. My aunt lives with her and was in bed for 2 days with a horrible cold. My grandmother took it the entire time she was sick and did not get sick.
I ran out and bought some Friday when my husband came home from work sick. I took it and have felt wonderful.
I get sick often so I am now going to keep it stocked at my house.
I strongly recommend it!!

I'm happy to hear that most of you like it and would recommend it! I was in CVS the other day and a lady came in looking for it. I've been kind of skeptical about it...now I'm going to buy some when I'm out! Thanks! ~Lisa

My advice - get it now!! One it's Jan or Feb, the stores were all out 2 years ago. They couldn't keep up with the supply! Then again, now there are all sorts of generic versions, so they're probably just as good.

Last year we called Walgreens before going out to get it - the worker said over the phone that our best bet was to come in sometime after 10:00 on Tues. morning, since that was the delivery time! However, he did mention that he had let several callers and shoppers in on the same tip...

We're usually very lucky with Airborne, but once in a while we start it too late, and it seems to have no effect then.

My friend swears by it - he is a Pilot, and flys everywhere. He says he takes it all the time, and it is awesome. I have never tried it. I have tried the Emergen-C (vitamin C) packets, and think those are awesome. Are these 2 products similar, or does the Airborne contain a bunch of herbs??

I find this to some of the best stuff around. It is just completely packed w/vitamins & minerals & gives your body a great boost. I use as soon as feel something or if someone I know is already sick and I have been around them. Great product. I dissolve the tab in hot water & drink that way, it tastes better that way to me. Happy Holidays to all.

Similar but yes, Airborne contains lots of herbs, etc. as well... Emergen-C is only vitamins and minerals.

You can see the ingredients at www.airbornehealth.com (that is their official website).

It's very, very expensive vitamin C - which has been shown not to be effective.

I don't think it will hurt you, but it won't do anything that a cup of tea, a multivitamin and a little rest would do just as well, and a whole lot cheaper.
