Why are they making tee-shirts so tiny now?

I tried on long sleeve tee-shirts at the store today... Mind you I am a tall and long-waisted woman at 5'8" and I generally wear a Large on top but I was trying on XL's and they were sooo tight, I could hardly breathe! Heh.

I like the St John's Bay tee-shirts at Penneys because they are a little bit looser and are more flattering for my post-baby, 40-something year old body. I don't think that I want to move on to the 'mature' women's section yet but.............. hmmmmmmmm.

Any other brands that work well for you? or do you just wear the tight ones? Oh my.

I just wear the tight ones in a larger size. I am a very small woman at 5'3" 112 lbs. I wear a size sm but in a tee I like a med. I like my shirts long. After 2 kids I do not like to show my belly.

You are singing to the choir- either they are mens cut with no style whatsoever or they are made to fit my 9 y/o

I am glad I am not the only one that thinks this way.
I do not even think it looks nice on people that can wear them.
To me these Tshirts look like children pulled out last years summer clothes in the spring.
I cannot stand them and that is all that is out there.

Some are really stretchy, though. I inadvertently bought an XL in a girl's size, and it fits, albeit in a tarty sort of way. I suppose I'll wear it around the house -- or if I want to make new friends. It really reminds me of the baby doll shirts of ten or so years ago.

I have a 17 month old and I actually bought her two of the skin tight short sleeve t-shirts from the girls dept in sz 4/5. I wear a long sleeve onesie underneath and she looks adorable. But I keep thinking... what am I going to do if skin tight is still the style when she is 5.

Try Ann Taylor Loft I picked up some normal sized t-shirt there when they had the buy one get one half off sale. I really hate shirts that don't meet my pants, who really wants to see my tummy?? Come on I have 3 kids and I am too old to show that much skin, even if I do live in Miami and I get to see way too much skin.

The Cherokee brand t-shirts at Target have a more generous cut -- almost too generous for me.

I've noticed that shirts are really tight and short lately too. Not only in the women's dept. but also in the girls dept. Geez, I finally had to go to the JR's dept. for my nine year old, cause her tummy showed when I bought her shirts from the girls dept. Talk about annoying. I hope the style changes & soon!

I like the St. Johns Bay ones from JC Penney's...the ones with a bit of lycra or stretch in them...I got a few white ones last summer...Target Cherokee ones are good too...No one would want to see my stomach anyway...after having kids it was pretty much ruined. I hate that look of the stomach showing on young girls...I'd never let my 13 year old go out like that, but thankfully she's very modest and has no desire to. ~Lisa

I think that the are made to fit wierd and they are so thin. I hate it. My 16 and 18 year old DD complained about the t-shirts and hoodies I got them for Christmas. They were bought bigger to COVER everything and they told me that if they were pregnant, they would be great. They would be able to wear them the entire pregnancy!! I am a little old fashioned and tired of seeing bellies that I don't want to see. I can't imagine the teachers at school!!

Yes, St. John's Bay shirts are great but I have every color of theirs... At least they do come out with new colors every year. I layer with all of the colors and short and long sleeve. Comfy and great quality... I dry for 10 min in the drier then hang on hangers so that they do not shrink... 100% cotton.

I have also been told to check into Sears Covington as well ... by one of my tall post-baby friends.

Kmart shirts run very short for me as well as the Target Cherokee...

It is not easy being buxom-ish AND tall in today's retail world that caters to the skinny-minnies (or fatties who don't care and *should* care!!!).

Thank you!!! I am So glad I am not alone in this frustration!!!

I have to buy my 7 and 8 year olds 10/12 and 14/16 just to keep them covered! My 10year old I have to go to the Jr's department. I hate the belly hanging out...in fact their school (a public school) will make them change if there is skin showing between the top of their pants and bottom of their shirt. And they ARE so thin these days!

I'm tall (5'8" also), long waisted with long arms - I'm also sick of everything being too tight and too short. Lately, I've been wearing the Eddie Bauer talls.

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into those.

I am sure that it will all come full-circle eventually. Just very frustrating!

I'm not really heavy either... just a little bit overweight. I don't know what people do who are.
