My dog died

My beloved beagle, Jackson, passed away yesterday. He was 9 years old, and the best dog a girl could hope for. I want to play some music at a little service the kids and hubby and I are having today. I also thought it would be nice to make a video of photos I have of Jackson. Does anyone have any ideas for songs I could use? I tried doing a search for "funeral music for pets" but nothing came up.

Holly

I am very sorry to hear about your beloved dog. I know all to personally as I am sure many others do how much it hurts. I do not have any songs in mind but I will search through some of my mp3s and maybe I can find something to help you.

I am so sorry for your loss. After my dog died when I was a teen the song "If you came back from heaven" from Lorrie Morgan was popular and I sobbed every time. Beautiful song. I can't, however, think of any songs specifically for pets.

So sorry for your loss. Our pets are like family to us, as I am sure yours are also. Hugs to you and your family. We have 2 beagles, and they are like children to us.

I'm sorry for your loss. Our dog is like a 4th child to us. He's one of the family...
My suggestion for music would be to check Disney Movie soundtracks for a slow slong.
I tried to find samples to listen to of the music soundtrack from All Dogs Go To Heaven but I couldn't...
I'm sure there should be a song on there that would work.

As long as the song was slow and respectful lyrics about being a good friend I think you could probably find one like that.

Do you mean "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton ? We played that at my sister funeral. I still cry when I hear it.

Holly,I'm sorry for loss. I know how hard it is. Pets are like family members I had to lay both of my dogs down at the same time. One I let go way too far and when the other was diagnose with kidney failure I realize it was time to let them both go We buried them both together.I'm still coping with it 4 years later. I can look back at it now and I realize it was the best thing for them to be lay down together .They were two of kind. always together vary rarely apart .They were so much part of my family.

I think "Tears In Heaven" is a good song to play..What about "Angels Among Us " by Alabama.. There is alot of "Pet Poems" on the web maybe you can find one that fits Jackson and read it at the memeriol.

I'm so sorry about your beloved Jackson. I agree with LBeadle about her song recommendation. How about about Eric Clapton's "If I saw you in Heaven?"

I have a basset hound and he is 6 1/2 years old and is really getting white around the nose/mouth and eyes. I can't even imagine how upset DH and I will be whenever he goes. My mom's great dane just passed away last month and that was really hard on everyone. It's really too bad that our pets don't have a longer life span.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Holly.

Pets are so amazing. They set a place in our hearts that nothing else can quite fill when they're gone. Your memorial idea is so sweet and I hope it helps you and yours find some peace with loss of your furry family member.

I agree definately!! My precious black lab had to be put down in Aug 2005 (she was 14+) and I still miss her loving face each day. Her ashes sit on our mantle because we couldn't bury her, if we move so will she. We now have a rambuncious 13 month old yellow lab that has stolen our hearts, and she has already given us so much love. I hope she lives as long as our Duchess did.

Thank you all for your kind words. I just cannot express how I feel right now. I've never lost a pet before, so I'm just overwhelmed. I like the "Tears in Heaven" song; I may try that.

Thank you all again for your support.

Holly

PS-- Here's a picture of my fur babies--- Jackson is on the left. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6...94/fedcre2.jpg

So sorry to hear about your beloved Jackson. That is a very nice picture of the two of them. We had a beagle when we were kids. She was such a dear, sweet, wonderful dog. I think of her often.

Other pet lovers know just how you feel. I like the Rainbow Bridge poem that is out there.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorryt for your loss. We just adopted a 7yr old black toy poodle who is 8lbs and I have to keep reminding myself that this is a dog. I love her so much and she lies on me like a newborn baby. I cry at the thought and my heart truly bleeds for you. I dread that day to come. I am a first time dog owner so I have no ideas but I think there are some good ones above. ***HUGS*** I am at a loss for words

I'm so sad to hear about your loss. We had a Sheltie named Alexis that died about ten years ago. We got her as a puppy before we had children. She was our baby girl. It is an extremely hard thing to go through. Our dog now is a Golden Retriever "Cookie" that we got from Pet Orphans when she was two. She's nine now and I worry about her dying sometimes. I don't know if I'll be able to bear it. I found this site called petloss.com that might help you. Here is a song I found on there that I thought was really touching...Precious Little Friend...Hugs... ~Lisa

We just went through this in September - our 16yo miniature poodle was so sick we had to decide to let him go. Very difficult thing to do.

My prayers are with you.

Oh Holly, I am so sorry. Pets are such blessings. I know your precious Jackson knew how important he was to you and how much you all loved him. I know he had a wonderful life. I hope your heart will heal quickly and memories of him soon bring smiles instead of tears.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. "Amazing Grace" is a classic song. What songs did you associate your pet when he was alive? These could be used for memories of happier days that you spent with this special member of your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. When I recently lost my dog after 12 years, I found this song by Shelly Guidotti called "So hard to say goodbye." I know it is too late for what you wanted it for, but I thought it was a perfect song.

Dear Holly,
I was unable to read your post and all the replys when you originally posted it. My Brandie was up in years and really slowing down. It is so hard to write and express to you how much I feel you sorrow and loss, because las night we lost Brandie. She was 14 -1/2 4 lb. Yorkie. I know my tear are also for myself, but I apologise for notsending you a hug weeks ago. I hope your sorrow has lessened and your memories sweetend.

Oh Holly I am so sorry your baby passed on I know you miss terribly. We still cry over our 2 pet babies that passed on 5 yrs ago its just that you love them so much. You will see Jackson again I truly believe it. I got a childrens book from the psychic Sylvia Browne that talks about pets and going to Heaven. Its one of the most beautiful uplifiting and comforting books I ever read. Its called Animals On The Other Side and I got it through Amazon.com really cheaply. That book gave me hope that they are still with us and will always be. My recommendation for a service song would be Danny Boy...its the Irish Girl in me..... Bless you and your family as you go through this really really hard time...and remember to eat ok?
