Feeling so sad, our 12 year old dog died

We did not start the New Year off right. Our first "baby", Jasmine our dog died on the 2nd. She was the best dog you could ask for. She was so good with the kids (she was almost 12 and our oldest child is 9) and I am having such a very hard time with it. I have been crying so much and just feeling so depressed. Of course it does not help that my FIL went into the hospital the day after Christmas and will probably be staying in a nursing home now. He has Alzheimer's (at age 63!) and it is at the end staged, he got pneumonia on top of that. My mother is in a nursing home and has dementia which we were told today is getting worse. So I guess I should be depressed, lol.
But I am so grieving the loss of our dog.

Oh my goodness, you have so much on you right now. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Jasmine. But I can tell from your post that she had a wonderful home and a wonderful life with a loving family. What a lucky dog she was. Please be sure to take time to take care of yourself. Perhaps make an appt with your doctor. You sound like a prime candidate for situational depression, which can be easily treated. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry for your loss and all that you are dealing with right now. Just try to remember the quirky little things about your dog that made you smile and cherish the wonderful time you had together in this life. Best wishes to you and your family in this difficult time.

I'm so sorry. I know how hard it is to lose a pet. My pooches were 17 & 15 1/2 when I had to lay them down. I still miss them today, but I smile when I think of all the wonderful memories they have given to me.
I'm sorry to hear about your Mom & Dad and the diffcuilt time you're going thru. I will keep you & your family in my prayers..

I'm so sorry for you loss.

I know exactly how you feel. I lost my 12 yo Cock-a poo two years ago, just before Christmas.
And just after Haloween past, my dd lost her 11 yo Lab that they had from the time he was 11 weeks old.
I mourned my "Benji" for a long time and still mourning my dd's "Zack".

Loosing a long time pet is almost like loosing a human loved one.

You are definitely dealing with alot right now. I am very sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose a dog...they are members of our family. Take the time you need to grieve and it will get easier with every passing day.

{{HUGS}} to you. I'm so very sorry for your loss......I know exactly how hard it is to deal with. I still miss my first baby Duchess. Just remember she is in a happy place now, and that she knows just how much you all loved her so.

((((((HUGS)))))) coming out to you. When our little house rabbit died last year, I was shocked at how hard it was for me (tears are in my eyes as I type this). Pets are just so unconditionally loving, it's very hard to lose them.

wow! I had been away from the boards a couple of days and came back this a.m. to find all of these wonderful replies and support! Thank you guys all so much! I also extend my condolences to those of you who have lost also.
It is a little easier than it was right at the beginning, not quite as raw. I was able to find a bunch of pics from her pup years up through her graying older days.

My FIL is not doing the best. I saw him yesterday and he was pretty unresponsive. It is so sad.
But my sister called last night and asked to have our kids to take them to a movie and spend the night with her! That would mean actual alone time with DH! HUH!? Unheard of! lol
Thanks again to all. You are a great group of people

I feel so sad for you

I feel so sad for you . I know what you are going through because right now my Husband of just one and a half years has terminal cancer , and my mom of almost 86 has Alzhemimers. I feel so stressed sometimes but i have to stop and think of what they are going through . I stand by my Man alwaysa and visit with my Mom (who lives with my older sister)as often as i can. I know she has a hard time remembering me but i remember her and all the great times in my life i had with her. I know how much your dog must have met to you also. I lost a cat i had for over 10 years. It was so lonely without her so we ended up adopting our preious little Curly Girl, she is a cocker poo. sandy in color. A couple had to give her up. She sure filled a void in our life. I know you can never can replace the pet you had, but this little gal sure made the transtion much easier. I really think God sent us this little angel just in time. My best to you and yours. Bless you, Jbyrd Im Michigan
