Are they still around? this was Way back when the board had a running count of how many members there was. anyone else remember them? Just wondering about them and how they are and if they are still here.

I think Barb was the owner and Chuck did all the tech stuff, I remember having a tech problem and Chuck took care of it, they were both so nice! I don't know if they are still around here?

Chuck Sherman is still around... I emailed the Administrators with a technical problem the other day and he replied. He is so professional and caring. He works very hard to keep this site what it has been and what it is becoming. I believe Jason is still around as well. Barb Sherman, I believe, has moved on... She was *the* Moderator back in the late 90's. There is a list somewhere. I found it the other day but can't find it now!

Thanks!

Hi, ALL...

...your kind words are appreciated!

Just some quick answers: Jason Wolfe started this site and still owns it today; Barb and I were the first Administrators of the ShoppingBoards even when the site was called DirectCoupons (before MyCoupons) back in 1998; Barb is now "retired", doing fine, traveling, and misses you all; I'm still around every day as part of a great MyCoupons Team that is dedicated to make MyCoupons the #1 Coupon Code Source in the world!

Barb and I are NOT related and that question has been asked many times over the years.

Thanks for the "trip down memory lane"...we share some great times but I think the BEST times are yet to come as we work hard to create a wonderful new MyCoupons Community with many new features and a whole new "look and feel" of MyCoupons.com this Spring.

Thanks, again, and as Barb would say...

Happy Day!
~Chuck

The timing of this thread is really funny. Last week, I was just thinking, about the e-mail that Barb would send out and when she started including the recipes and how much I missed it.

Hi All..

This is Barb. Just wanted to greet everyone and let ya'll know that I am still around as a MyCoupons member.

As Chuck stated, I am now retired; doing some traveling and yes, Linda, I am still a very avid Jeff Gordon fan. GO #24 in 2007!

Thanks LittleJo for posting this post of reminicence and to all those who have joined in. I 'do' remember each and every one of you! Wondering, how many remember the 1999 wonderfully crazy Christmas season shoping days/nights??
Gosh, I remember the FREE deals, the greatest coupons, FREE Shipping + More! Anyone remember the FREE pet food? the FREE New Year's Eve goodies? The $20 OFF $25 deals + FREE Shipping? I also remember getting ~very little sleep~ for fear I'd miss a deal coming up on MyCoupons Shopping Boards. Ahh... those were the days!

I have many, many memories of MyCoupons and it's terrific membership throughout almost a decade. You'll find me still shopping and grabbing deals, coupons, codes, etc. as well as reading (and occasionally posting) at MyCoupons.com, the #1 coupon site online!

Wishing everyone health, happiness and Coupons!

Happy Day!
Barb

I do remember those great deals way back then! I remember drugstore.com practically giving away the store! I still have some of those first-aid kits!!

There were so many good bargains and really good giveways 'back in the day'. Oh, well, hopefully mycoupons will be around for a really long time and we can talk about how we remember when 'The Cafe' first came on the scene!! LOL!

This is too weird my friend that introduced me to mycoupons in 1999 were just discussing some of the deals we got online those first few years. Wow! Remember the Eddie Bauer free gifts$25 /$25, test drives and more. Thank God for this website I don't know if my husband and I would have made it through those early years had it not been to mycoupons. Too much fun!!!

I remember all that. Jason and Barb... The "clover wars".... The major fights that went from these boards to f**w***.com and the insuing closing of the family board afterwards. Good Times.
My favorite deal was the one that if you switched phone companys they gave you $75. I then used that card to buy a bunch of stuff at Delias.com on clearence with their $20 off $25 code. And when payless did their BOGO 1/2 off sale and gave you half off the expencive pair. I remember getting a lot of shoes then. And all the testdrives that you never really had to do.
I remember when TRU had an awsome coupon for the free booster car seat (or $25 off any other seat) and I traded someone a book of stamps for 2 coupons. She really saved me a lot of money. I wish I remembered her name.
Good Times.

I remember *wanting* to meet in St. Louis! LOL...

I got hooked on Eddie Bauer freebies and vacuum and other great electronics for half-price at ValueAmerica.com (now defunct). I remember when IDolls went out of business... gorgeous dolls. MotherNature.com and some drugstore site (can't remember the name of it?) and all the free stuff. Christmas was basically free that year. My family couldn't believe everything we got and it was the year that I made good friends with the UPS man! Ha ha.

Such fun walking down memory lane.

My username Valerie251...was originally Valerie25, because I was 25 at the time...then when that time a bunch of usernames was lost, I registered again as Valerie251 because I turned 26.....WELL....I am almost 34!!! Cuthie it was
Drugstore.com
Back in the day the deals were 20 of 20 AND Free shipping.....Back then we were getting diapers and necessities.. now that online store also includes products for your sexual well being...

My DH still mows the lawn in his "free" ASICS tennis shoes and I still bum around in two of my fatbrain.com t-shirts.
A family member this Christmas asked where we got the Golf Flag and Cup so many years ago (his had faded due to weathering but it's such a hit he wanted another one) and that was a Dicks Sporting goods 20 off 20 free shipping deal.

Lots and LOTS of good memories!
I never did any of the "open a new bank account and get $$" deals but I know they were posted as well.

Back when Freeride was cool!
Glad I was part of it,
X

What memories! Thanks for posting!

I don't miss the drama..and I hope the "new" mycoupons becomes what I remember it was "pre-clover war" days. I joined in 99 and loved it from the get go!
Jason, Barb and all of the mods at that time were just fantastic. When the whole FC'd co thing happend, that was when I knew it was the downfall for the website. Too many people got too crazy. One couldn't say a thing on the boards without being jumped on. I finally decided that enough was enough. It just wasn't fun anymore..and honestly, I had better things to do with my time than to see hurt and feel hurt.

But I kept lurking, checking for coupons, or listing coupons every now and then. I am so glad to see a chat area again. It always made mycoupons more personable.

I made some good friends on here, some I have lost contact with.

All in all, there were/are some beautiful, wonderful, sweet people on these boards. I hope we can get a lot of the good folks that left, back on here!

*waves at Barb* You go girl! Happy Retirement!!!!

I remember it fondly!

I was just flipping through an old check register and saw lots of More.com for $1 razors/tampons/etc
I only wish I could find such a deal on razor blades now!

I remember missing lots of deals too (the webmd shoes!) since we were overseas and it was day for me and night in the states so I would wake up to see what I had missed

My favorite memory is all of the FREE items from the Staples deals in 1998-99.
Although I don't post often, I do visit every day and enjoy everyone on the boards.
Here's to a wonderful Mycoupons future!

I posted a lot a few years back but right around when the clover thing happened I stopped posting as much. I'll never forget when I won a "case" of juicy fruit gum through some contest (wrigley's I guess). I think one other person here won it too (that posted), it was literally like 1000 packs of Juicy Fruit..It took us a couple years to get rid of it all and the last bit we had to throw away because it had no flavor and was stale! I've been posting a little more recently though.

Hm now I just had to post..

Not too long after I joined these boards I thought wow, I never saw so many people named Tia! Everyone was 'signing' their posts "TIA" I thought it was remarkable I had only met 1 person named Tia in my life, and now there were like 20 people named Tia on a coupon board! LOL

AND also around the time I joined...I read about all these great deals you guys were getting at "GE"...gosh, I spent like 30 minutes searching the General Electric website for all that party equipment, before I figured out it was another GE and read about a guy with a great voice in customer service, his name was jean Luc or something ,he had a fan club here

Margaret Unk
James Unk
and John Unk

Lightbulb moment
UNKNOWN not Unk... HA HAHAHAHA! I started not to tell DH because I knew he would not let me live it down for a while... but it was just too funny... I thought I might be related to some Unk's.

LOL!!!!
Thanks for the giggles!

When I saw this post I decided I definitely could use a trip down memory lane.

I know littlejo - traded for some flower bulbs from her yrs ago.

Barb is especially close to my heart... I have a lovely plaque w/ a saying about friends in my bathroom right now that she send me back when I first joined... I learned alot from her and am happy to see she is doing well and enjoying her retirement.

There are SO many I remember and everytime I read a post w/ a familiar name it really does take me back....

So how about this... those of us who have been around a long time... maybe we should do an update post...what's happened in our lives etc... since we wandered off.

I can tell you that I have been a member since right after my middle son was born, he's going to be 9 in March. WOW! LONG TIME!
Most of you know I have 3 sons. All are well and growing so big and strong. They are now 14, 8 & 5 (6 in a month).
I decided it was time to go back to work after being a SAHM for the past 7 or so yrs. It took me awhile but I've found a job that is a really "good fit" for me. Hours, salary and benefits are great!
My dh and I are still married. We still have a rough patch now and again, like everyone else but all the big problems are gone. He spends alot of time w/ me and the kids.
It really is different than it used to be and I'm pretty happy now the way things are going.

I feel priviliged to be one of the original group as well ... I don't post often. I read the posts every now and again but lay low mostly because I don't have the time I did.

I still coupon. I take hiatus' every now and again. I've just figured out how to balance the couponing/bargain hunting in me w/ the working mom in me....it isn't easy sometimes. Deals come and go so fast now.... most times I find out about them days after they are dead..LOL..

oh well. The world goes on.
Hope everyone else is doing well!
Glad to see so many familiar names
