I grew up in a home with no electricity or running water for about 4 years. Parents were getting back to the earth (or something like that -- hippies!). Talk about lots of chores!!! I thought that I *was* Laura Ingalls!

Just look at me now -- sitting here under my laptop heater! My dad and I laugh about it now.

I used to be a Social Worker and counselor and worked with male teenage gang members in Norfolk/Va. Beach for 3 years. I also used to work in a psychiatric hospital on an evaluation unit with youthful offenders (whenever someone murdered or raped or other bad crime) they would send them to us to evalute, I did this for 3 years also in Oklahoma. I worked as a counselor in a female detention unit for teenagers in Norfolk, VA. I also worked as a counselor in a drug/alcohol rehab for teenage males in South Texas.

Needless to say, tessa, I do not like *camping* to this day! I camped my childhood away. Not fun to me... Some of my friends think the story is so farfetched until I show them the photo of me sitting in front of the house.

I used to be shy when I was in high school. Now I strive to be the one everyone remembers. My life motto os this.... Everyone is something, You could be the one that gets ignored, the one that gets noticed, or the one that gets remembered.

When I was ten years old I had my first ambulance ride. It was the 4th of july and my step dad and grandma were fighting. Grandma went to throw a coffee mug at my step dad and hit me square in the forehead, even though I was on the other side of the room.

10 Stitches later, I never did see real fireworks that year.

I am a triplet!

My other 2 sisters were siamese twins and in 1970 they didn't have the know how to deliver them, so they died at birth. My mother almost died too, it's a miracle any of us made it.

I'm sure this wasn't funny to anyone at the time but your story just made me laugh. I'm picturing the look on your grandma's face when the mug missed your stepdad and hit you. You may have not seen the real fireworks that year but I'll bet there were more fireworks between your g'ma and stepdad after the incident.

Thanks. My Dad is still afraid of going to the hospital, even after all of these years. I still wonder what it would have been like with 3 of us. My mother never could have handled it though, she is just not a kid person and to have THREE would have driven her mad!

We laugh about it now. We talk about how GMA didnt have any aim and if she was mad you better not just get on the other side of the room but put a wall between you and her!
About 2 weeks after my GMA gave me the coolest book ever. It was a personalized hard bound book that had a story about me and all my friends in it. Way cool, considering this was <cough> 20 something years ago.

Fun thread....My first husband, I eloped and then went home to my mother's house that night and every night after for a year until I was finally caught by my brother who was joking and said I was married so a month later I moved to my husband's house. Yeah, I was young and dumb. My current husband, 5 years younger, and I met online in a adult flirt chat room. He lived in California and I in Texas. He flew me there to visit, then visited me , then we decided that we didn't like being apart and he left his parents, grandparents, and friends and moved to Texas! And one more thing......I love spongebob squarepants!

I met my husband who is five years younger than me in a nightclub 8 years ago and we've been together since(just got married in 2004 though) I have been a dept. manager for 5 years but have worked there for 10yrs. at a major retail store that everybody hates so I won't bother saying the name. I have a 9yr old DD who is going to be the death of me with her attitiude. I was unmarried when I had her and her "sperm donor" ran off as soon as I told him and has never once asked to see here. I grew up on a mini farm in VA with my 1 older brother and we were very spoiled. Loved camping when I was little now I hate it! I have to have the luxeries of home and I can't stand bugs.

I married my boss. Told him I couldn't date him because he was my boss, plus he lived in Miami and I lived in NY at the time.

I am not really a true blonde.

I was a fat kid.

I have ugly feet.

Oh, wow, I'm a twin- my twin brother died at birth. His name was Caleb and my best friend whom I've known since i was 14 and seem to have a really strong, unique bond with is named Caleb.

Another strange note- I'm left handed and all my serious relationships have been with left-handed guys.

I so wanted something cool to add to this thread I love it but can't think of anything.

So I will just say I am one of 10 children. I have 7 brothers, 2 sisters, 8 brother in laws, 9 sister in laws, and I have to use a area code to call any of my siblings. Yes they all left the area and I still live in the house I came home from the hospital to.

None of you really know me, but I've been lurking here for years, I just saw this thread and decided to jump in, I hope you don't mind.

Since you know nothing, anything will do I suppose....

I'm 40 and have only had one full time job and that for only 9 months.

This summer I will have an empty nest, plus my hubbies an otr truck driver.

I love to sing, taught my daughter, and she does it better....lol

and, after planning a wedding this past year, I'm glad I only have one daughter! LOL

flipper and classicdrm...so sorry to hear of the loss of your siblings.

I was born under the zodiac sign Gemini and I have a twin sister. Don't know what I will ever do if/when I lose her (or she me), but we are both well over 30 so it really is a different story. But your loss is more because you never had the memories to share....

Here is a real shocker for you

My father was a very strict man and didn't let any of his girls date until they were 18. When I met my DH I was 16.. I introduced him to my mother and with her approval we started dating. We dated for 1 1/2 years before my father caught us DH & I was out one night and his car broke down. I was already late so dh started walking me home. Guess who came looking for me? My dad found us made me get into the car & made "Dh walk to my house". When dh got to the house my dad gave him the 3rd degree and sh^t really hit the fan when he found out that he was airman...My father barrred me from seeing him ever again...Soon my dh got orders for a one year remote. We got married before dh left with my mom approval of course ,we didn't tell my father until dh returned home that we was married. My father was diappointed but really wasn't mad.

Even tho they got off on a rocky start my father is very proud of my DH and is proud to have him as SIL .. the day my dh retired from the military was one of my fathers proudest moments it was like his own son achieiving something.

The thing most people dont know about me is that I love riding 4 wheelers. Although I would much rather have a horse then a quad but thats just a dream of mine.

Also I am at the age my Mom had me (36). Im always telling her Im half her age...LOL

Hubby and I started dating when I was 15 and got married at 20. We are still together! Most people dont even know we met that young!

I have always loved cats and not dogs. Bad experiences with dogs made this decision for me.

I think it depends on how many usernames you have!

classicdrm how interesting! Maybe he found you after all and it's even more special if it's by choice, kwim?

My Mom actually has a copy of the records from when I was born, she got a court order I think to get them, very graffic and scary reading.

Hmmmmm...

I taught myself how to read (or I knew how to read from the age of 1-2 on) One day I was playing w/ the tv guide (my grandmothers favorite) and she asked me what was on tv, and I told her. They gave me other books and I could read them too. I also read VERY fast (200 pg book in about an hour or so). Freaks people out.

Wow! Really, the same phobia! It is awful and so irrational. It really causes many problems for my family...When we moved to Kansas City we had to have our neighbor drive my car here, I couldn't do it......I'm just up front with it and people except it but I'm sure they think it is wierd!!
I'm convinced it is left over from a past life...yes, I believe in past lives.
Thanks for telling me this affects you too...it's nice to not be alone!

Actually this is my 2nd username.I was banned in 1999 for being a smart alek, lol, shhhhhhh!!! But have been dollydeal for 8 years now.

GMA2007, I was born birth defected too.My legs were deformed inwards but my parents fixed them while I was still a toddler with casts and braces for a few years so now I look normal. In fact I think my legs are one of my most attractive features.

4csmom,I also have highway phobia.Even more than I hate those spiders that always gang up on me! I absolutely REFUSE to drive on the highway! I'll take the long way even if it means an extra hours driving.
