Update on mobile home park-Briny Breezes!

Last week I posted about this mobile home park community in Florida called Briny Breezes. For those who did not read the post, these people lived on prime real estate in Palm Beach Florida. This mobile home park was surrounded by homes worth 5-15 million. A developer came and offered the people of Briny Breezes over a million a piece in exchange for their property so they could build high end condos.

Update, They voted to accept the developers offer and will be allowed to stay until 2009. At least it gives the residents plenty of time to find a new place to live. Here is a link to one of the articles about the Briny Breezes. http://www.bizjournals.com/southflor...8/daily33.html

Oh, thank you for the update! I was wondering what the outcome of the vote was.

I am very happy for these mobil home owners. I saw the story about it on MSN, I believe it was. At that time they were doing the vote, and I thought to myself "What person WOULDN'T want to take that kind of cash???"

Good for them!

Well I think its awful these people are living thier dreams & a developer is coming in & making it into condos these people would never be able to afford. And I wonder if they are accepting of the offer it says 2/3 of the city not 2/3 of the mobile home. I figured though the town would want the trailer park gone even though its expensive trailer parks are getting ran out all over I know I used to live in one on a lake that was also bought up & closed by developers who knew they could make some money on lakefront property. At these peoples ages you wouldnt think the money would have such a big influence but maybe it does considering they probably want to leave alot to thier kids.

Snoopy, from what I understand of the story, the mobile home park formed a town called Briny Breezes and each resident is a shareholder in that town(I could be mistaken, but from what I have heard, that sounds like what they did). The 2/3 vote was the actual residents of Briny Breezes not the city of Palm Beach.

I heard about that on the news yesterday (that they accepted the offer). I also thought "good for them".

Now, if they want to buy my house for 5x what it is worth, I live at xxxxxxxxx. LOL!!

Thanks for the update. I was actually hoping that the vote would not pass, but I would rather them get the money instead of the government step in and give them nothing near what they were offered. I do feel for those who did NOT want to move. Why move when they were enjoying everything people that were spending billions on had. Good luck to them all.
