Sooo- do you believe in ghost?

There is a house in our area - that the local lore - says is haunted!(Due to a drowning in the welll on the property. I don't know if I believe in ghost or not - it is a very old turn of the century farm house - I would like to update it and move in - my husband and children say no way! So have you ever heard a bump in the night - other than your teenager sneaking in after curfew? Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes my mothers house has a ghost in it. We really don't know how it got here or what its purpose is here. We do know its a female tho. My sister was walking down the hall one night and saw a shadowy figure flowing in the corner of the hall. One night my mother was sitting on the couch and she felt like someone was staring at her, she turned around and saw the shadowy figure there. Also one night she went outside to go to the store and she saw the shadowy figure flowing in the tree in the middle of the lawn. I have never seen her at my mom's house, but i have felt touches at times, and no one was near me.
Another thing that happens now and then is when my sister will try to open her door to her room the door sometimes won't open and it feels like someone is holding the door closed.

The place where I work is supposedly haunted by a ghost. He is a very friendly spirit who likes to play tricks on our staff. I have never seen him although I think I have felt his presence a few times. Our TVs will turn on by themselves inexplicably. In the ballroom, he has supposedly rearranged tables, dumped tables over, etc. Whenever something odd happens everyone blames"Bob". I told the other staff members that I thought they were nuts. I always figured that he stayed away from me since I am a Christian and I have God's light around me. That sounds pretty out-there, I am sure, but I honestly think it has "protected" me from the shenanigans until I have been able to accept that this "spirit" is not bad. Just before Christmas, I was turning on the house speaker system when my phone rang from across the bar. The caller id showed that it was the main number for our facility. There were only a few people working that afternoon -- non of which are pranksters. This happened maybe three times in a row. I went through the building to make sure no phones were astray, quizzed my fellow workers and nobody had been attempting to call me. I am certain this was not a trick. I simply grinned and wished our "Bob" a Merry Christmas and thanked him for not attempting to scare the crud out of me. I told him that he his to keep away when I am there alone after hours because I don't want to have a heart attack.

By the way, I have spoken to a friend of Bob's who assured me that he was very kind and respectful of women. He said that Bob was a real jokester. This guy is a paranormal "hunter" and could tell you stories about hauntings that would scare you. The oddest thing though, he asked me to describe what I had experienced, if I could describe what I had seen. I told him that I had not specifically seen anything, but that I felt like someone of fairly large stature was standing near me at times. He showed me a picture of Bob (when he was alive) and he looked amazingly familiar, not in a spooky way, but a I-think-I-know-you kind of way. Very odd, call it eerie, I don't know. I always tell people that "Bob" and I have an agreement. I won't call the chaplain for an exorcism if he doesn't bug me.

Yes, I believe in ghost ...but Ya'll are going think I'm one who flew over the cuckoo's nest after I tell you my story.

We lived in house that was built in the 50's we had lived there for a year and nothing had ever happened. About a week before my dad had a heart attack. My kids were sleeping and dh was on a tdy...I was sitting all alone on the couch reading a book, when I looked up I saw this little girl who had a long white shirt on walking down the hallway. At first I was startled but thought it had to be my little girl walking in her sleep or something..She walk all the way into my son room.I got up and look in his room and saw no one was there..... then I went to my little girls room and saw she was sleeping..I look at her to see what she was wearing ,she had on her blue pj's.. I really started flipping I started to search all thru my house trying to find this little girl open the doors looked at the street "Nothing!" After I finally calm down I sat back down and starting reading my book thinking it was all my imagination..Then I heard a voice in a gigle tone drifting down the hallway..Did you see me? Did you see me? I decided Heck with the book I'm going to bed..

I saw this girl everyday until my dad had his heart attack.. She was always walking down the hallway going into my son room My sister thought maybe she was my guardian angel warning me about my dads heart attack and letting me know everything will be ok.. Then I starting seeing her about twice a week..It got to the point my kids & dh knew when I saw her because it caught me off guard everytime. The weirdest thing I wasn't affraid!! This little girl appeared to me for 8 months. During those 8 months they were the most difficult times in life. My sister health started going down hill and my dh decided to leave the military short of having 2 months before retiring.. because a humantary could not be approved for his wife siblings they told us it can't be done.(long story) So now I'm losing my sister & my dh is losing everything he put into the military,I just couldn't imagine god wanting this for us. My son had asthma .we had way too many bills at the time ,We didn't have a dime to our name how in the world are we going to survive.? The last day I saw her was the day the humantary was approved and the papers my dh signed were torn up.My sister passed away the following month and I knew than the little girl was indeed my guardian angel preparing me for my sister death

I have always had 2 ghosts in my house. I saw the first one when I was only 6. I was standing near my staircase and saw/felt someone run upstrairs. I ran and told my dad, he searched the whole house but no one was there. There were times in my room my muscial toy would play by itself, until I finally said out load " It's okay if you want to play with my thing, but do it when I'm not around, you're scarring me". Things had disappeared and when I would say give them back, they would be where I last lef them. I've has knocks on the bathroom door when I took a shower and then no one would enter if I opened the door (or at least I didn't see them enter). Once I opened the bathroom door and saw someone ( kids heights) run towards my brothers room. I looked in there an no one was in there. I awoke one night to see a 'person' standing in front of me, he was short and wore clothes from the 1900's. Ya know those kicker pants, old shoes, suspenders. He just stood there, then disappeared. Parents and brother heard little kids footsteps go in one direction upstairs. Brother went to check it out and no one was there. We do not have the history of our house, I wish we did. I do know a neighbor died in the bay behind us. But he lived next door.
I do dream of family members before or right after they die since I was 10. My aunt told me to tell her hubby she was okay now and she loves him. How does a 12 y.o tell her uncle his wife said that?!! Years later I told my dad and he told his brother. My cousin visited me while I was on vacation the day he died. I didn't realize it was him though because I just felt like someone was to the right of me and I was too scared to turn around. As I layed in the bed someone who was not visible pulled on my sheets. I actually saw the sheet being pulled tight. I just sat there in amazement.
Both dad and I get poked in our sides. Which now I make sure I sleep with my back to either a wall or put a pillow on my side.
So yeah I believe in ghosts.

I'm a believer. Witnessed and experienced too many things not to be.
The home we currently live in has several "ghosts" or spirits, whichever you prefer to call them. I NEVER feel alone in this house even when I'm the only one home. I've seen shadows out of the corner of my eye like someone was standing there and several of my 15 yr old DD's friends have seen a male figure of sorts in the house. One is a real prankster, loves to hide keys, shoes and such especially when we're in a hurry to get out the door.
I have seen a shadow standing in the doorway of my bedroom at night when we're all in bed. Scares the heck out me 1/2 the time. I usually get it to go away by sitting up about 1/2 way and telling it to leave.
My youngest dd refuses to sleep in her room. She says there's something scary in there. To test it out my oldest dd and one of her friends decided to sleep in there one night. They said the door kept opening and closing and it would get bitterly cold at times. They felt like someone was watching them the whole night. lol they haven't attempted to sleep in there since.
I don't feel anyone here is in danger but it can pretty spooky at times.

Everytime my sister went into the hospital, one of her old musical angel would start to play by itself. I don't think it was a ghost, I think it was her angel letting her know she was watching over her.

I totally forgot about this

When we stayed at a hotel overnight in tenn I totally freak!!! I wanted to pack my stuff and leave ,but No dh wouldn't let us.. Everytime you walked by the dresser the bottom drawer slide out in front of you. Then when we turn off the lights to go to sleep..I heard a squishy noise like someone was walking around us ..I said that's it I'm going !! Dh just pulled me back into his arms and started laughing at me and said don't worry honey I'm not going to let nothing get you..Needless to say I slept we one eye open that night!

My TV kept going on at 9:27 am. I was like what is happening this is a new TV. I told my dh we have ghosts. He came home played with the TV and someone set the timer on! And I was thinking it is my MIL because we live in her old house and she died about 3 years ago this month.

I believe! There is a difference between a ghost and a spirit. A ghost is someone who doesn't know they are dead, and they wonder what the heck are you doing in their house! Tell them, in a matter of fact way, "your dead, go to the light" a spirit is just a visit from the other side...talk to them, they can hear you! Can you tell I'm a fan of Sylvias!
As far as moving into a house that it is rumored to be haunted...I wouldn't, because I'd talk myself into hearing and seeing all sorts of things!!

I believe in ghosts and spirits and anything else that is out there ...watching...
When I was young ,in grade school, I shared a bedroom with my brother. Two seperate single beds with a nightlight in the middle that was kept on every night all night long.I woke up in the middle of the night because I had to go to the bathroom. When I opened my eyes I saw a bald head with huge glaring eyes staring at me from in between the wall and just above my brothers bed. I was horrified as I laid there with it staring at me non-stop.I decided I would close my eyes for a while to see if it would go away.I had to go to the bathroom REAL bad so I opened my eyes again but it was still there staring at me.My brother was fast asleep in the bed. So,I just shut my eyes in frozen stiff horror and tried to go back to sleep with an aching bladder.I think I finally passed out from fear.

Another time when I was a little older when the room had become all mine . Lucky me! I get stuck with the haunted bedroom for 18 years.
Anyway,One morning I woke up and was doing my usual silly thing that I use to do now and then when I woke up in the morning bored with nothing in mind to do.I would count to 10 trying to decide which number to get out of bed on.I had counted to 10 a few times when during my next count all of a sudden my sheet on my bed flew up uncovering me then my nightgown flew up.There was nothing there.Scared the bejeezus out of me.

Mysterious rips and tears like something had been clawing at the side of my bed kept appearing on my bed spread on the section comming up from the floor. It was not getting ripped in a washer or dryer as my mother very rarely washed it and I was not allowed to use it to cover myself as it was for looks only. No pets in the house.

My mom stuck these dolls on top of my dresser that gave me the creeps.I couldn't stand them always staring at me and one time before I went to bed I decided I had enough and turned them around so they faced the wall.Next morning (early like 5:00 am on a school day)I woke up to get ready to go to school and the dolls were facing me again! Nobody was or could have been in my room.I made my mother get rid of those dolls, lol !

Then there was the daily middle of the night bathroom trips to endure , upon flushing the toilet I would hear someone LOUDLY running up the stairs everytime. The stairs was next door to the bathroom.Everytime it happened it would scare the crap out of me and I would run as fast as I could back to my bed and jump from doorway to my bed and lay there in horror expecting that "whatever" was comming after me, was going to show up any second. This would only happen on the middle of the night bathroom trips.
When I was around 17,My brother had moved out .My parents went bowling VERY often and I would be left alone in the nightmare house ALL the time. After they were gone for awhile all the lights in the house would suddenly stop working leaving me horrified in the dark in my room. They would not work until my parents came home and upon entering the doorway , turning the light switch on.This happened many times.Electricity was not down.

In my Early 30's when I lived in this one apartment, things would fly off the end table when I looked at them in my bedroom. Also I had a brass mouse on top of my dresser that would sometimes fly off the dresser as if attacking me when walking by it .Later though while moving a stereo speaker that was next to that dresser I discovered a dead mouse in the white cottony material in back of the stereo speaker.I got rid of the stereo speaker and the dead mouse , and the brass mouse on my dresser stopped flying off the dresser as well as anything else.

On the same dresser (its one with a hutch and mirror) I also had a brass cat that I always kept facing the door. One day I noticed the the brass cat was facing the opposite direction in which I kept it.I thought that was strange but put it back the way I kept it and thought nothing more of it....untill... I got my mail a few days later. There was a card in it requesting my presence to my best friends mothers funeral. Strangely, the picture on the card was that of a gold cat that looked exactly like my brass cat facing in the direction that I had mysteriously found my brass cat a few days earlier.
I also had lots of those paralyzing sleep wakenings in that bedroom, and many times on the bed or couch would feel something sit beside me.

I live in a very old house now ,and NOTHING has ever happened to me here. And thats the ONLY thing I like about this house ,lol.

After the sheet flying up incident I had my brother go with me everywhere I went in the house for weeks. He even stood outside the bathroom and guarded me.I don't know what I would have ever done without my brother there all those years. He was always there for me.

Yes, the man that used to live in the house I grew up in, as far as I know still walks from the kitchen to the livingroom. My best friend knew him when he was alive and when he started appearing I asked her who used to live there and she described him to a tee.
I lived in another house in Ohio with just me and thekids and there was a little girl that would run up and down the stairs and come into my bedroom when the kids were with their dad. I used to think it was my daughter when she was there but she was always asleep when I looked in on her...So I started calling the little girl Emily. I never said anything to the kids about her. My ex husband moved in there when I moved to Ga and the kids started talking about seeing her and I told them ohhh don't worry she's Emily and she used to keep me company when you guys were with your dad, she is watching out for you...LOL

Yes I know I'm nuts HAHA

Oh stellatj, I cried when i read your post..I believe it was a sign to you that tim was telling you he is ok.There is a woman world weekly mag I love to read each week it has a new angel story. some of the stories are about love ones sending signs to people they love

My sister sends us signs too. Carol was always picking up pennies off the ground ..saying they were pennies from heavan After she past away my mother started finding pennies at her grave and in the oddest places. My sister & I love angels I'm always finding white feathers in the oddest places & one time I was driving to the dr I had so much fear and I asked for a sign to let me know if everything is ok..Along the whole 20 min drive I had yellow butterflies crossing in my path.I know this was a sign from her because it was bitterly cold outside it was in the winter time...

Yes I do. I call them spirits and I could also tell stories. One saved my life. I am just glad I have only encountered good spirits.

I believe. One day I was talking to my mom and all of a sudden I felt something tickle my ear and neck. Freaked me out since my dad would always do that to irratate me (in a good way). I just said "Dad, cut that out" and it stopped. Sad thing is, I haven't felt it again.

Absolutely. I'm sure my mom has visited many times. In our house we used to have toys going off when nobody was near them (they were turned off). Freaked out my friend a little when she was watching my DS when we went on vacation but she's a believer and just started talking to whoever it was

This year my DH gave me beautiful pics of my mom from when she graduated high school. Found them, framed them, wrapped them. My DS never saw them (or my mom). When I opened the pics on Christmas morning DS says "that's your Mommy". I almost fell down
