Lightbulb Can I do it?

Over the last few years, (child bearing years, i might add, lol) I have gotten to the point where I dont like my appearance, I don't feel 'good' and etc . And some people think my goal sounds silly as I know that there are some people who would like to lose more, but this is "my" goal because I truly think I would feel better and I no I would look better which in turn would also raise my self confidence. So, I figured since I am enjoying this forum so much and everyone seems so kind and caring that perhaps if I say it outloud here that you all will keep me in line, encourage me, etc I guess I am saying will try to help me stay motivated and on track .

So, Here's what I need to do: I need to loose 10 to 15 lbs, preferably 15 .
So, Here's what I got planned so far (by all means throw in any suggestions)
*I HAVE to drink water or tea daily, as I know this helps with my fluid intake and output, and bloating.
*I will do some form of excercise daily.
* I have already modified my menu somewhat: I have stopped eating out completely (which was somewhat a biggie cause it seems like every time i leave the house, I wanna stop and eat somewhere just because I don't have to cook it)
* I have never eaten sweets, so that's all ready a given.
*Smaller portions
*Healthier foods
*No late night eating

ANY other thoughts or suggestions?

Want to add, that I was also on tons of medications such allergy meds, antidepressants, etc. and I do blame some of the weight gain on those, BUT I quit taking them a few months ago and have dropped 7 lbs thus far. And I can see a difference in myself (for the better) both physically and emotionally. I just need to stay in the right frame of mind, lol.

Accomplishments: I even parked far away when at the grocery store today, just so that I would have to walk, and I am usually the one who circles around until I get as close as possible. I also stopped at Hardee's today and ONLY got the $1 sweet tea. I have already excercised today.

for me cutting out "fake" sugars (like splenda and equal) was a biggie for me. I used to drink about 4 diet cokes a day. I replaced those with decaf tea or water (because caffeine actually dehydrates you) and lost a couple more pounds. Plus, it's healthier.

Also, try to replace the white flour with whole wheat (or use a half and half blend). Fiber fills you up so eat high fiber when you eat break (Orowheat honey fiber has 4 grams of fiber per slice)

If you don't like to cook, try batch (freezer) cooking. Cook 3-7 meals at one time (weekend or evening) and freeze them. That way, it's out of the way.

Good luck

Besides the healthy stuff...(which is VERY important) If you dont like your appearance...BUY yourself something pretty...nice shoes, outfit....every once in awhile BECAUSE YOU DESERVE IT!!!! Being a mom sometimes we all just throw on the jeans/sweats run out the door..TAke some time just put on a little makeup, do your hair, wear something pretty...It actually makes the eating healthy and excercising a bit more easy....Make's you feel better!!

Do you think...

a vitamin is ok? I have never taking vitamins except while pregnant. Was wondering if it will cause me to gain weight? Please don't think I am dumb, I am just not familiar with vitamins at all.....

Yea, originally I stopped eating out to help with my $$ goal, so that's gonna be a win-win for me.

I should add that I dont' eat any bread, anyway. I am just not a bread eater so that should be great too.

I do love to cook, I cook 2 meals a day everyday. My weakness for eating out is, I think mentally I convinced myself that I deserve it and it is pleasant to eat out alone, lol. But I don't think I am gonna have a problem with that, cause I have already been out a couple times and did NOT eat on the run.

Thanks and I can see that this was a good idea to post, I feel inspired already.

VITAMINS~Just get a good Womens One A Day vitamin. This will help your body recieve what you need.
Eat out, BUT make wise choices. You do not even have to just eat salads. Make sure you ask that things are not cooked in oil or butter. Choose fruit instead of a roll. Get steamed vegs. instead of rice.
The main thing is DO NOT DENY yourself.
Try green tea. I love it and there are sooooooooo many kinds out there. As far as tea goes there are so many options. Stay away from the sweet tea.
Have a good breakfast each morning. Do not skip meals.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!! I am pulling for you and I do NOT think that you have a silly goal. Not many people wake up and say "Boy I hope those pants are to tight for me this morning!!"
(Treat yourself to a makeover as well. I love to visit Lancome and have this done.)
Keep us posted.

This sounds like a great plan. Most importantly, don't forget to get plenty of rest. This boosts your energy reserves!

I am with you. I could lose a few pounds but not many. I think I will join you on your diet. When do we start?

Let's Do It!

Great tips and advice, especially the encouragement.

Nellyhil, Let's do it! How about we officially start Tomorrow, Friday, the 19th? I know I have been thinking and claiming to make changes, but let's make it official. How shall we go about this? I mean shall we post daily or pm each other, etc in terms of what we are doing and how we are doing? I am kinda new with all this even tho I see lots of folks teaming up to support each other.

I am so excited now. I feel so great just because you wanna do it with me!

Also, be sure to eat something healthy as soon as you get up. It kicks your metabolism into gear. A bowl of oatmeal and fruit is great because it really gets your metabolism going quickly. You will be hungry in an hour or so though so plan on a small snack.

Get to know your body and mind triggers that make you feel hungry and have a 'plan' for those times ahead of time... ie hunger in afternoon. Solutions could be to eat a small snack and then chew a piece of gum, brush your teeth with minty toothpaste!, drink a cup of hot tea, call a friend, take a walk... etc.
