American Idol Last Night...

Did you all notice Paula Abdul's behavior last night on Idol? She could hardly complete a sentence and was acting like she has a "tic". They sure kept the camera off of her... I like her and hope it's nothing serious... I'm looking forward to watching the show tonight, I hope she is in better shape.
I happen to think her job is so cool, wow! what a life! Let's keep our fingers crossed she doesn't blow it!

I think Paula has been smoking the wacky weed. she looked rough last night-- she look tired. She was also kinda puffy, maybe she had just gotten Botox that day or something.

I thought she looked awful too. I thought her makeup was bad, she looked old and tired... I like her too. I think she's had some issues to deal with but I thought she looked like a "woman of the street". I hope she's ok too.

She's an odd bird, isn't she? I've always found her interviews to be a bit weird but the past 2 years she's gotten really strange.
She's really pretty and petite in person. We've been to the show every year since year 3.

I wish they'd have shown more "good" singers last night. I don't mind watching the weirdo's if we can see some good ones too.,....

After listening to those people for 12 hours I would act like I smoked the wacky weed too. I couldn't imagine having to sit there that long .. 17 people out of 17,000 made it through ..ughhh

They don't hear all 17,000--- they are pre-screened before sent on to the judges. That's why we know for sure that the purposely let bad singers in for good tv.

Wow! You've been to the shows, how fun! Do you have a personal intrest or are you just a fan?
Last night was painful to watch! LOL! That poor chick in the satin shirt, braless no less, with the blonde hair and lipstick the color of tomato soup...plus a matching mom!
She butchered my favorite song ..."Don't Cha" In the end they all distroyed it!!

Paula seemed better on Wednesday night... She's a kook. Sometimes I feel embarrassed for her!

Oh, she was horrible, but neither she nor her mother seemed like they were quite all there.

I feel embarrassed for her too. Did anyone else see that interview that Paula did a few days ago? She couldn't even sit up straight and she was slurring her words terribly. It's all over YouTube.

I hope she doesn't try to claim that she's on meds for terrible back pain again, because the other night on American Idol, she popped right up out of her chair and started dancing. I agree she looked terrible the other night. Her makeup was awful and she looks like she's been baking in a tanning bed for a few months. I wonder what's really wrong with her - it could be something medical, or it could be an addiction. I'm not sure which one would be worse, but hopefully she gets some help. It's just ridiculous that she and her reps keep denying that anything is wrong at all.

That chick was truly frightening. I know some "contestants" audition as a goof, but there are some that really believe that they can sing. They seem surprised when the judges tell them the truth: they are tone deaf, couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, etc. Or get angry and curse, because the judges don't know anything about music Who tells these people that they have talent?

I'm guessing it's the voice coaches that take their money for voice lessons.

I wonder if these people realize how bad they sound when they see themselves on tv.

It bothers me deeply to see these "judges" make fun of these people. I very much dislike this show because they belittle people. I can't stand to hear how they talk about people. It is hurtful and teaching children it is OK to attack the differences of people and to do it with no mercy -- and to laugh when others do it. There should be a prescreening - and only allow people with talent to get to the real judges --

I think a lot of the people do it for their 'five minutes of fame'. And it's hard for me to imagine that the families of some of these people actually tell them they're good! I had to cover my ears some last night. Thank goodness they're out of Seattle. They're moving to the South next week, so hopefully they'll find some good singers. So far the ones they've picked, I don't even consider most of them Idol material.

As far as Paula goes, I've heard about her chronic pain problems and pain pills. I've got chronic pain too, so until you've experienced it, you don't know what it's like. Sometimes you're up --- sometimes you're down...... so I can sympathize with her.

I whole heartedly agree. I hope that this newer, nastier approach to attacking is seen for what it is soon. It is painfully mean. Don't forget - those really bad singers are "groomed" - they are told along the way how good they are, so that they can keep making the cuts until they see Paula, Simon and Randy -- just in the interested of exploiting them for "good television."

I hate this part of the show.

The show has been on long enough for those people to know that this could happen to them. They enter the ring at thier own risk, I dont feel sorry for them. I would like it better if it werent so staged with handpicked wierdos, but its still funny.

Rosie was just saying that she thought that they should be kinder to the youngest kids (16, 17) who try out and really think they can sing. She felt that they were so cruel to some of them that it will hurt them for the rest of their life. She also thought they should not show the terrible singers, but I think thats the best part.

The terrible singers are the only reason I watch it! Once they go on to the next round and are told they are good, I cannot stand to watch. I think MOST of them are terrible anyway. Not my kind of singing and I think I have pretty ecclectic taste.

Thank you!!! It really concerns me that so many children watch and love this show. I watched it for the first time the other night because my kids had been saying all their friends watch it.

What bothered me most was that the judges weren't just telling them they couldn't sing, they were putting them down for physical traits that they can't change.

Not a way I'd want my kids seeing adults behaving...

Paula was definitely a kook last night.....dancing around and making fun of people in a way that she doesn't normally. And then didn't even show up on the second day! Simon did that in one of the previous shows, now her...how do they just "not show up for work"? That's another negative message for young viewers... (but I still love it!) The 26?-year-old lady in the yellow outfit was a hoot!

Paula could not sit still but boy, she was missed the second day when she was not there; it just wasn't the same. I wonder why they do not have guest judges on *those* days instead of on days when there are already 3 judges there. They need an odd number for judging -- tie breaker. She really does add something. I wish she could get herself together...

Big Bird was a hoot. I do feel sorry for some of them when they get kicked. I though the gal with LONG hair should have moved on to the next round but her choice in song was wrong -- pretty singing voice though just a century off (Amish?). There was another gal that day who was better than one of the Day 1 girls (blond with baby-talking talk voice and alto singing voice, no way). Curly hair boy who sang 'Seal' song had amazing voice range, unique, and very funny.

I am officially addicted to the show for the first time ever. My DH tells me, 'You are hooked!' Yikes.

I am hooked too! I plan my trip to the Y around it....spend that hour on the treadmill (they have built-in TVs with headphones). Kill 2 birds with one stone! Instead of running for 30 minutes, I walk during the show and run during the commericals. How crazy is that?

I agree with simon about the girl with the very long hair. The girl did have a pretty voice, but I really don't think she could sing some of the types of songs she would have to sing through the competition. I don't think she could be versitile enough.

It was interesting last night! I loved the blg bird lady! good for you sista' 50 years old and going for it! I could have gone w/o the tummy shots though.
The mom and daughter with that gross long hair...nuf said
And the Jack Osborne look -a- like that sang "Seal- Kiss from a Rose"....he was good, let's cut that fright wig and see what we have (think Justin Timberlake in the early years)
And of course, the newlywed chick with the minnie mouse voice....It was painful to hear her talk, just annoying, she won't go far-IMO
As far as people crying about the way judges are treating the contestants, Geez, everybody knows that is what the show is about. Right or wrong, it's what is expected from this show and ONEof the main reasons people tune in.
You can always change the channel.... ouch, I'm gonna' get burned.
Don't hate, it's fun to talk about and hear all the OPINIONS

She sounded more like a chior singer to me, definiatly not an "idol".

I never really watched the show before, but I am hooked too, they are too funny sometimes.

It does not surprise me, but sort of annoys me that if you have a great body and sing just OK, you can get through, BUT if you are overweight and have a good or OK voice, it's out the door with you.

I am glad the curly hair guy made it, he was good, not awesome, but definiatly deserved another chance.

Here's the link to the slur interview for anyone who hasn't seen it already. I never saw it until today, she almost looks like she's having a stroke, the one side of her face seems to be droopy? Very strange?

I missed the first 15 minutes of last nights show, but did see Paula's last critique. I thought that she was slurring her words and jumping up, acting odd. My first thought was that she seems drunk. Then, they show next day auditions, and suddenly Paula wasn't present due to a family obligation (that she knew nothing about the day before?). I really think that she didn't show up due to not being able to get out of bed.
Not sure if Paula has a little problem with alcohol or meds, but it seems that something is going on with her. I also caught a bit of that interview that everyone is talking about, and no doubt, she is way out of it.

By the time the live American Idol comes on, she will probably have her act together due to so much criticism.

We tape the show. My husband loved the long hair just not the singer. We know Sean Michel from the Memphis show. Talk about don't judge a book by the cover. He worked for DH till he graduated from college. He had that long beard and hair. A really nice person.

I think she would have a wonderful career singing but she isn't right for this competition. Her voice reminded me of some of the singing in Disney movies.

You're kiding me!!! I loved him and I hated the crap Simon said about him...talk about judging the book...

If you see him again tell him a fan said thanks, he restored my faith that The Blues ain't dead yet!

Now this one was just plain scary

Was he the one that looked like Cuba's Castro? Awesome singing voice.

So far, I think that Sundance Head in Memphis that sang 'Stormy Monday' is best. JMHO.

Finally, though, they had some good singers! Of course, in the South!!! I thought the girl with the really high baby speaking voice and the totally different singing voice reminded me of Paris last year. She talked like Minnie Mouse but boy could she belt it out when she sang!!

As far as Paula goes, I think she's probably on meds for her back pain. I take meds too for chronic pain and sometimes the meds can make you pretty 'happy'! Until someone has chronic pain, there's no way to describe it or understand what it's like. So I sympathize with her.

Glad it's on again tonight. Can't wait! I'm looking forward to seeing Taylor again once the show starts and see him appear live and in person!
