DH was supposed to be home two weeks before our baby is due, now he has been extended for a short time so now he is scheduled home four days AFTER she is due. Both he and I will be so disappointed if he misses the birth. What I want to know is, how accurate was your due date? Our conception date is exact because she was an IVF baby. Any suggestions, wives tales or others, to hold off labor? Things to do or not do? Or is that just wishful thinking?

My first baby (girl) was born on her due date. My second baby (ds) was stubborn and refused to come out. He was an induction (my pressure went up a bit and my membranes had been stripped 3 times already). He was 8 days late. Unfortunately babies come when they want.

My oldest was almost 2 weeks late and I finally had to be induced. My youngest was a scheduled C section and was only a few days late. Ask your doctor though. I'm not sure when you're due but as it gets closer, they'll be able to give you more info. They'll know if the baby is in position, dropped, etc. Good luck!! |

First one was 6weeks early (tried to come 10 weeks early). Due date was right or close to, know which week I got pregnant, u/s showed the same date. Second one, I was 1-2 cm the 5th and 6th week before her due date, then she dropprd and I was 4cm for the last 4 weeks (felt like I was sitting on her head, and that she was just going to fall out when ever I was standing). She finally came 2 days after her due date. Mowing the yard, shopping and jogging didn't help any. Due date was right on, knew what day I got pregnant. |

Babies come when they want too. 1st come 6 weeks early, due date June 5th came May 6th, you don't want an real early baby, spent 2 weeks in the hospital. 2nd dr changed due date I just laughed and said go ahead it's meaningless, her due date was Dec.8th came Nov. 27th 3rd due date Dec 18th, two neighbors told me that was their due date and had the baby on Christmas!! He came Nov. 30th Good Luck and ask you doctor everytime what they think your due date might be. |

My daughter was going to show her personality and show the world that she was not going to do what she was told and came a day early. 12 years later she is still proving people wrong!! Don't walk!! I know that they encourage you to walk when you go into labor so if you don't then maybe you can not encourage it. I know that it is silly and they come when they come but it would not hurt. Just remember that this is a perk a military wife has!! :-)

My 1st was 5 days early. My 2nd was almost 3 weeks early. My last doesn't count cause I was induced w/her at around 38 weeks.

My first daughter was due January 15th, she was born February 3rd. I had back labor for 36 and a half hours-she weighed 6lbs 11oz. My second daughter was due October 5th. She was born on September 16th and weighed 9lbs 8oz. I was in labor (not back labor this time thank God!) for 16 hours. My niece just had her first baby on January 16th. Her and her hubby expected their new arrival on Feb.14. We had just had her baby shower for her the day before she went into labor! |

DD was in the right position until I was about 4 1/2 - 5 months pregnant, then she turned and was in the breech position. My OB's kept saying, "Don't worry, she has plenty of time to turn back." Well, she didn't, so I had a planned C-section at 38 1/2 weeks. I was scheduled for my C-section on a Tuesday, and on the Thursday before, I started bleeding a little and having some mild contractions - nothing bad enough for them to keep me in the hospital, but it still scared me to death. I was terrified of going into labor with my baby being breech, so I took it easy and stayed off of my feet for the next few days (I also really wanted one of my doctors to deliver DD as we had it scheduled - not just the doctor on call). My C-section was supposed to start at 7:00 am, but we were delayed when another woman came in whose baby was breech and she was already in labor. I couldn't hear it, but DH said she was screaming horribly down the hall - I think it really scared DH. Anyways, I don't have much advice for you. Towards the end just try to take it easy and don't push yourself too hard, but when the baby is ready to come, there's no stopping it. If it's any help, I was born 2 weeks late and my cousin who just had a baby, finally had to be induced when she was about 2 weeks late. Hopefully your DH will make it home in time for baby's birth. |

My SIL had her dd one month early. They were positive of the dates (first time trying). Her little pudge was 7lbs 13 oz, and 20 in long. Funny thing is that was exactly what my dd weighed when she was born on her due date.

On the upside, when you are not sure what to do, pray. I will stand in agreement with you in Jesus name that your husband comes home in time to share in the joy of this new life. :-) Maybe there will be other believers to stand in agreement also. I just know it will all work out fine when all is said and done. I am so excited for you and your husband I will keep your both in my prayers, for a timely arrival for your husband to be home, an easy labor and a healthy baby. |

My DD was right on time. She was due on March 30 and that's when she came bright and early at 4:25am on Easter Sunday. For the longest time she thought the Easter Bunny brought her LOL!!!

I was induced with all three of mine right around the due dates so I would have went past (I think) but, my 3rd one my husband was in Iraq and came home the week he was before the date that my doctor said he would induce me . I would not hope though to go too far past the due date for the babies sake but I think that your weight my be somewhat of an indicator ( my opinion) I am not fat but definately not thin, I delivered my son @ 190lbs.. Good Luck hopefully he will be home for the delivery |

My DS came 17 days late. He came out slow and stubbornly and hasn't changed one tiny bit. He is the slowest pokiest kid on the planet. ![]() They tried every thing under the sun to get this kid to come out and for me to go into labor. I finally labored for 24 hours and they had to do an emerg. csection anyway. I will be praying for you and your family that you can all be together at that happy time! |

|
Although I understand your concerns and don't want to give the impression that they are *silly*, I do hope that you will not let this be a huge worry for you. I worried about everything under the sun when I was pregnant and in looking back, I think it was so unnecessary and really pretty futile to worry about things over which I had no control. In retrospect, I wish that I had worked harder at living in the moment and enjoying the pregnancy...enjoying my time alone...sleeping a lot...eating a lot...spending a lot of time with DH and friends! An importan thing is that your baby girl *will* arrive safe into both of your arms and fill your lives with such blessings. Camcorders are a wonderful thing! |

I know that someone posted about camcorders, but you should check with your hospital because the one that I delivered at WOULDN'T ALLOW ANY CAMERAS/CAMCORDERS DURING THE LABOR, really didnt make me feel comfortable about that, I was thinking why in case something goes wrong? but you should check that is a good idea if they allow it! |

| Don't eat eggplant! The following is off the LGC board. The recipient of this info ate the eggplant and went into labor. Now, it may have been a coincidence, but I wouldn't eat it if I were you! "Did you know that Eggplant parmesean will put you into labor? My DIL was like you, impatient and anxious for my grandaughter to come. We were told that the eggplant parmesean would put her into labor, being skeptical we went ahead and tried it and she was in labor within 3 hours of eating it." Anyway, I was induced 6 days early because I was retaining so much water. DS still ended up being 8 lbs 4 oz and had to be delivered via emergency c-section. I wouldn't recommend inducing to anyone, especially if there's any chance you'll have back labor. Yuck! I will hope that your DH gets home. If it's your first, there's a relatively good chance you'll be late. Kim |

I was induced w/my third at almost 38 weeks. She was 7 pounds 13 1/2 ounces. That was my easiest labor/delivery. My other two were 8 pounds 13 1/2 (this one was back labor) and 9 pounds 5 ounces (she was the one that was almost 3 weeks early). They started me at 8 a.m. and I had her at 6:47 that night. I was actually fully dilated around 5:30, but didn't start pushing until 6. Of course, I had an epidural this time, so maybe that was why it was so easy compared to my last two where all I had was some shot (that didn't work ). If we have another one, I will more than likely be induced and have it around 38 weeks. The 9+ pound one really did some damage so my doctors are cautious and will induce so I don't have to deliver a baby THAT big again!
