Wink For Fun, What do you...

I enjoy doing and learning new hobbies. I just finished up my latest project and am kinda interested in learning something new. So, I thought I would post and see what some of you do.

I am speaking of crafty type hobbies like: cross stitch, crochet, knit, quilt, painting, woodcrafts, ceramics, etc. Kind of hands on type creativity. * NOT including couponing and refunding.

What do you do as a hobby?

How long have you been doing it?

My favorite hobby is painting. I love making my christmas yard displays.. I put alot of time in it when I make them..I'm the only one who does the painting..I'm too picky when it comes to painitng it has to be perfect, no visable brush strokes or drips..Dh tried to help one year and I went bonker seeing all his drips..

I have done cross stitch & knitting in the past but really didn't enjoy it like I enjoy painting..Painting seems to help me relax.

I'm a big scrapper, too - and I've found that I can't be a perfectionist and try for the perfect pages - I really am proud of my scrapping when I just get it done! Surprising, but true. I don't like to look back at my books and remember how I slaved over it. My most cherished pages are simple, and highlight the pictures and any memories jotted down - not so much the ones with the fancy layouts and papers!

I also recently took up beginner jazz dancing for adults, although that's not very crafty.

I love to read (again not very crafty)...

I like the idea of scrapbooking (I bought tons of stuff) but never could get into doing it.

Question Anyone else?

Thanks for the responses.

I do scrapbooking sporadically. Meaning, after I get photo's I like, I stash them in scrapping drawer and when the urge hits I do it. Seems like I work on it like every other month or so.

I read alot too. But that also seems to come in spells for me too.

Keep 'em coming, I love hearing what others do too.

Thumbs up Atten: Angel38

I think painting is very relaxing for me too. Someone had given me an etched stone for christmas and I was so stressed out the other day, I sat down and meticulously painted the entire thing. It looked great and I felt so relieved when I was done.

So, I am curious as to what other things you paint besides christmas display items. Need a few ideas. Also, is there a specific type of painting you like, i.e. watercolor, oil, etc?

Sorry for so many questions, but I am really interested in your insight.

I bead, mostly. I started out making stretchy rings for arthritic fingers, and am now considering Art Clay.

I have taken watercolor painting classes at the local community college ($55 a semester) and done stained glass. Love both but supplies can be quite expensive for the glass class. I have some nice watercolors that I have done but they are stashed in my back closet. I don't like displaying my own artwork because then I start to pick it apart. Not good.

I also enjoy watching movies. Our library has an online card catalog so I go in and put holds on movies that I want to see and they email me when they come in. Sort of like a free Netflix! They even have recent releases but the wait time can be long on those. Monday afternoon is my movie time... I make myself a nice warm cup of coffee and bundle up under a warm blanket (in the Winter)...aah. Today's movie is the old Rocky (first one). We saw Rocky Balboa at the theater and it was so good that I ordered up this one. It's been awhile since I last saw it! I love Monday's...

I'm a scrapbooker. Started in 1998, and have been hooked ever since. I also dabble in photogrpahy, and have been trying to get into geocaching.

Wow! Lots of scrapbookers. I tried it many years ago and never seemed to really enjoy it. I love seeing the beautiful books people have made, mine are just the photos with dates, people if I know them!

I love to knit, have been knitting for 30+ years. I am working on a new sweater jacket for me right now with a few other works in progress taking a back seat at the moment.

Have tried but not stuck with for any length of time: beading, crochet, cross stitch, plastic canvas, stamping. Can you count cooking? I love reading cookbooks and trying out new recipes!
