I was just wondering how many of us have done the Tattoo thing? I have a small sun/moon on the small of my back and a Ying/Yang type tattoo on my back, below the neck.. I also hve my belly button pierced and my inner ear which hurt worst than my tats, .LOL.Any one else have any? I left out in my 1st post my dh has 3 on his left arm (working on a half sleeve) and both of our tattoos can be covered if needed

I have a Phoenix rising out of flames and clouds on my lower back.....it really hurt! I did it after my daughter was done with her chemo and my life was starting back over, so it has special meaning to me.

Recently my daughters were talking about the 3 of us getting the same tattoo, but I can't think of anything.....any ideas?

I got my first tattoo about a week ago at the very young age of 34. It's a black fleur de lis on the small of my back. I love it and would get more...but you should've seen the look DH gave me when I said that!

I'd love to get a cat (styled from a Japanese sumi-e painting) or some pawprints done as well. We'll see what happens.

It hurt but you know what, I am already considering my next one? I love Miami ink by the way. I want a book that showws tattoos and what the emaning is behind them. Anyone know of one? Oh and I was 34 and mon was 56 this past summer.

No, I won't get a tattoo.

It would be my luck, I'd get this small pretty flower that would end up looking like a palm tree when I am 80. :-)

Seriously though, while I would never do it, I find them attractive if done tastefully. I have seen some beautiful artwork that is sexy as well as fascinating. At the same time, however, I have seen some pretty gawdy work done, which is a shame!

I don't have any.

My sister got one when she was about 50, she fell asleep on a heating pad and burned the back of her shoulder, she covered the burn mark with a tatoo. It looks really good.

My DD had a sunflower put above her ankle when she was in her earl 20's. The yellow has totally faded, she said it hurt and she's to chicken to go back to get it redone. LOL !

I haven't gotten any yet. I always said I would never put anyones name on me. No matter if it was my son or Mom. No names. My close cousin had passed last year unexpecidly, he lived in Maui, so I was thinking of getting a small flower done. I'm not sure. I also want an angel/fairy but I haven't seen one that I like yet.

Thats the tough one....we are all very different women. My oldest daughter is more tomboy but laid back, the youngest is the cheerleader but more driven, I am a work hard/play hard type. We love to laugh, shop, listen to music together. I guess va-jay-jays are what we have in common, but I don't really want a tattoo of that!

My best idea was the Childrens Cancer Center butterfly logo, since we have all been touched by the cancer, but I don't want to define our lives only by that. I was thinking of a 'symbol' for family or women or something like that....any good websites out there?

A red dragon wrapped around a black rose on my right calf; a vampiress with the words "bite me" on my back (shoulder); a heart with flowers and a banner w/ ds1's name and dob on my left shoulder; a rose with a bit of tribal work with ds2's name and dob on my right shoulder; and a blue rose on my chest; also a red rose on my left ring finger with the words "love hurts" on either side.

I have a turtle on the outside of my left ankle and the initials "TNT" in my ex-fiance's handwriting on my left ring finger. He passed away in '05 and the initials are his and mine. Trying to find the perfect shooting star right now so my daughter and I can go and have one done together. We are both going to get a shooting star, I am getting one for both of my children with their names under them in their handwriting and she will get one with her name under it in my handwriting. I also want one on the small of my back but haven't found the perfect one yet.

I have 3 tattoos and want more. A heart with a bow on right shoulder, a tiger lily on right ankle, and the one I actually love the most is across my lower back. It says "Jesus Christ is my Lord" in Chinese.

I have several piercings also. Tongue, navel, and both boobies. *blush* I had my nose pierced, but when I became a Blackjack Dealer I had to take it out. *cry*

Tattooing and piercing seem to be slightly addictive...

Would never put something permanent on my body. I personally think they are stupid. What if you gain weight or lose weight? What if you finally "grow up" and regret what you have done? Plus tatoos will look really bad when you get old.

BUT, at the same time I am fascinated with the show Miami Ink. Some of their atrwork is amazing!
Must be like watching a train wreck.

I have to disagree...I don't think people with tattoos haven't 'grown up' yet...it's a personal decision, much like abortion, religion, what haircolor/style to have, etc. Just because someone doesn't think or act as I do, doesn't mean that they are somehow immature. =(

I have one but I want to get it covered. It is just a bad tattoo and looks really bad now after 16 years.

I also have plans for two more, I want to get a red mosquito on my ankle and maybe have it say I've been bitten under it, not sure about that part yet. I also am going to get SMILE on the back of my neck.

I have the $$$ just need to find a way to get to the place!

I have four tattoos that I had done in my twenties. I would have not gotten my tattoos on my arm and my leg (done twenty years or more ago) if I knew then what I know now. I would suggest getting ones that are very easily covered for many different reasons. Yes it is a part of you but maybe your bikini is too you don't wear it to work, court, school, etc.

I have a friend who has over 70 piercings and his whole body is almost covered in ink that is his goal. He will NEVER be able to get a regular job and has troubles with renting etc.

I just think that there has to be a time and a place for things and if your tatttoos always show you have no choice in the matter.

DH has a total of 4 tats - the last one he got was to cover up a tattoo he got w/ his first wife. It's now a slimy, stinky bass

I have yet to take the jump into Tatland. I'm nervous with what it will look like when I'm older. The pain doesn't really concern me, it's the point of what it will look like.

I also don't have anything pierced except two holes in my ears.

I have none and am going to die that way.

My oldest DD got one the week after graduation. I was totally against it. She got a flower at the base of her neck. Of course she wears her hair in a messy ponytail most of the time so everyone sees it. I think she will have to wear a wedding dress with a turtle neck when she gets married. She was 18 at the time. I pray she doesn't get any more. She said nect time she is going to get MOM on her butt because I am always on her a@@!! Cute kid. She is beautiful and I would like her to have stayed that way but.....

Sometimes, I have to say, I have forgotten she has it and if she is walking around with a towel or something on, it surprises me that it is there. In spite of it, she is still a great kid and I love her to death!!!

I am not really against them. I am a nurse and I worry about the health concerns, etc...

I am waiting til I'm 30 (which happens to be at the end of this year) I wanted to make sure I didn't get something stupid that appealed to me a 18(when I was my dumbest) that would not appeal to me now. I have three children and a cop husband....so what I'm getting is my husbands badge and in ivy around the badge my childrens names. I am also going to have the ink used that can be removed with only one laser treatment if I decided I don't want that on the small of my back while I'm having my diapers changed at the old folks home!!HAHAHA
