What is your hairstyle?

I am getting ready to get my hair done and I am trying to figure out if I want highlights again and then get like a wavy perm or do I want to get the highlights and just get a cut again. I have been letting my hair grow out so it is past my shoulders. There are too many hairstyles, I want something simple but yet I want "the look" KWIM?

My hair is short with layers. I take a shower at night and wash my hair and then scrunch it a little while using a blow dryer. I use a round brush to curl my bangs under a little. It takes me maybe 10 minutes, tops, to dry my hair on the lowest setting and then I'm done. My hair is naturally curly when it's short, so it's super easy to take care of. When I get up in the morning, I usually just fluff it with my fingers a little and it's done. I get compliments on my hair all the time and people always think I've spent a lot of time on it. If they only knew the truth - that it took me less than 10 minutes and then I slept on it. LOL

I have dark blond/light brown hair and I usually have my hair highlighted about twice a year - and it's needing it really bad right now.

Hi quick question with short hair how do ya only highlight twice without major roots. I'd love to only go twice. Also do you do a base color or only highlights. Foils or pull through cap??? I have really curly hair and have grown it out past my shoulders and I just blow out bangs a bit. Looks nice but the color is high maintenance. Also thinking of going back to shortish and stylish.

As far as not having roots, I think it helps that my hair is not too dark naturally. I don't do a base color, just the highlights. I've had foils and the pull through cap. I like the results I get with the cap better. I think all my layers help disguise my roots a little. I have literally had co-workers ask me 3-4 months after I had my last highlight, if I just got my hair done. My hair doesn't grow slow either. Three times a year would probably be perfect, but I just stretch it out. Usually, at six month intervals, my highlights have almost completely grown out. It's just time consuming to have it done and I try to save a few bucks, even though DH really wouldn't care if I spent the money to get it done more often. Luckily, I don't have any grey to hide/cover yet.

I just recently got my hair chopped! I've haven't had hair this short since I was about 7! Anyhow, I'm absolutely loving it and it's super easy to do. My hair is naturally brown but, I have highlights and low lights added. I get it done about every 60 days. Here's a link to the cut I just had done:

That's a great link. Thanks oraf7.

This is similar to how my hair is cut and how I style it.

If I blow dry my hair a little differently, I can get it to look similar to this with the sides flipped out, just a little shorter in the back though.

My hairstyle is whichever way it wants to go.My hair is very fine, and somewhat wavy and will not lay in any position too long.It all seems to favor going toward the left side of my head, opposite of gravity.I don't know why,as my right side is thinner than my left side. With my hair so fragile, and thin,I cannot use hairspray without a LOT of breakage so my hairstyle is with all my hair flipped over to the left cause thats what it wants to do.

Love these cuts they are so pretty. Wonder how they would work on curly hair in a humid climate.

I live in Florida and it is extremely humid here most of the time. I never had problems with my hair when I lived in a dryer climate, in Colorado, but the humidity here kills me. So far, since living here, having my hair this way has been the only way that I don't feel like I'm fighting with it to make it do what I want. I used to have long hair that I had to blow dry straight and then use a flat iron on to get the rest of the frizzies out. After spending a little time outside, I would have a halo of frizzies again.

I use Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, Conditioner. I also use one pump of the Fresh Curls Anti-Frizz Shiner in my hair before I blow dry it. Another thing that I noticed, is my hair does better if I blow dry it on the low setting and don't continuously wave the hair dryer back and forth over my hair (high setting and waving the blow dryer around a lot = frizzy hair for me). I aim the blow dryer at one area for about 15 seconds before moving on to another section.

I won full sizes of the Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, Conditioner, Anti-Frizz Shiner and Curl Boost from a contest online. I love this stuff so much that I will continue to buy it. The only thing I don't use too much of is the Curl Boost, but I really love everything else.

I just turned {gulp} 40 and needed a "better" look for myself. I am trying out a long shag- sort of like a Lisa Rinna look. Not sure if it's better, but it sure is easier. Just shower, shake and shag!

Hey! I'm in the "just turned 40" boat with ya!

I have a long, curly, big eighties hairstyle that probably screams "You're-way-too-old-to-be-trying-to-pull-this-off" -- but I'm keeping it! LOL

Yup, me too... almost 43! My fine but wavy hair is to the middle of my back with layers that flip on the ends. No bangs...Can't stand my hair in my face. Wish I could cuz it would cover the forehead wrinkles. No highlights. I color once every 6 weeks at home. The greys don't take the dye as well so it looks highlighted, LOL.

Thank you for your kind words, Oraf. My DH really likes it and I like it... plus, you really can do so much with long hair!

Went to the link and I have Nicollette Sheridan's hair in brown. No plans to change.

Ashame to admit it but I still where a farrah facet hairstyle .I wear it straight or curl when I go down town..I have had it for over 20 years and only had it changed twice.. I had a perm everyone loved it but dh admitted he like the farrah look better. Last year I had some cut where the layers curled in the front I wore that for year but went back to the farrrah look because that is the only way I know how to curl it. and get it to look nice...

But this year..OMG!!! I'm turning 40 I need to take the big leap and get my hair dyed (too many grays are showing) I wanting a new hairstyle hopefully the person who cuts my hair now will take the time and show me how to curl it to make it look nice..

Thanks for the link oraf7--I'm going to go to it and see if I can pick out a hairstyle I like

somedays is frizz some days if flat.....my hair is around shoulder length DH loves long hair so I try to keep it long, I did not cut while he was gone for 7 months ....so I have no "style" on really bad hair days I put it up and put one of those fake hair clips on it.

As of right now I am going with 2 tone highlights and I am thinking of getting a wavy perm in a couple of weeks so I can just scrunch it and go. I need to find out how bad it will damage my hair though to do both.

Mine is between the middle of my back and my waist. I do color my roots to cover the grey about every three weeks...I hate roots. I have a shade that is a couple levels lighter than my natural which is nearly black. I have naturally wavy hair but it is not a wash and go and have pretty waves look. Some days I will use a flat iron to completely straighten it or other times I will use a huge barreled curling iron. I do have a long bang and typically it is up in a ponytail or bun at home. It is not super thick but I have a lot of hair.

The only thing I am wanting to experiment with is color. My fear is that every time I go have it done I end up with a reddish orange because they do not pull the color light enough.

I hear you!!! I love my hair style, it's the color that I'd like to experiment with. I too want to try some other colors but I always go orange and so just won't do it and so I use the same box every time! I have auburn highlights so must choose an 'ash' shade because if I choose a 'golden' shade, the orange will happen. Yuck.

So, your hair doesn't mind the touchups every 3 weeks? I am worried about damage because I also have very fine hair but the roots are showing more and more... Hmmm. Scared to be bald! LOL.
