Will your car make it a million miles?

I saw an article on MSN about 'Cars that last a million miles'. One impressive Volvo has made it 2.5 million miles, LOL...:

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...lionMiles.aspx

We have a 2000 Chevy Prizm (low cost version of Toyota Corolla) that has 75,000 miles and has never cost a cent in repairs other then routine maintenance... and we have a 2007 Toyota RAV4 with 1,500 miles; nowhere near a million!!!

How many miles does your car have? Getting close to a million?

We have a 1995 GMC Suburban with 221,000 miles on it...just replaced some leaky transmission lines and the mechanic said everything looks great! It is a diesel so it should go quite a bit further!

I sure hope mine doesn't last that long!

I have a 1996 Mitsibishi that runs almost like the day I bought it! It has about 140,000 miles, not that much by these standards, but a million miles is an awful lot of trips to the Shoprite.

The Saturns we've had both have had over 200,000 miles and they are AWESOME cars.

We have a 94 Ranger with almost 200K and it runs great, we had to replace the clutch a few years as for major repair costs they have been minor. My 94 Buick has 120K I hit a bucket in traffic and torn out the trannie, the engines in these are suppose to get over 300K before they croak, new trannie, new radiator, I will drive this for a while. 66 Kharma Ghia 120K this one will never wear out, it is my husband's daily driver when he is in port, gets 30mpg he drives 120 rt everyday.

DH has a 1997 Subaru Legacy with 185,000 miles on it. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it lasts at least another 100K miles. It runs great and is so fun to drive.

DH has a 1994 Isuzu Trooper w/ 250k miles on it-it has been a great car! We are just keeping our fingers crossed that it will last just a bit longer-knock on wood. I have a 1999 Ford Expedition w/ 130k miles on it-hope we can get a few more years out of that too. As much as I would like something newer for each of us, it is really great not having a car payment.

I have a 2002 Ford Escort and just turned to 112,200 miles on it. Over a year ago with 57,000 on it. I drive about 30 miles one way to work each day and I ust my car for work. Only thing I've done to the car so far was brakes (manage at work did them for me) and a new timing belt. Other then that, knock wood, it's been a good car.

'92 with 280k (maybe closer to 290k, I don't drive much lol). It should get another 100k easily, the engine is still strong, but I think the transmission will beneeding service soon. We've had it for 100k miles and while we've spent quite a bit on repairs, it's because they are expensive, not because it's needed a lot done.

Mercedes 400E. I love this car, never have to wonder if it's going to start. But I've been thinking about what I want next now that we have 3 kids and the back seat is packed Some of the cars posted give me hope! I've been wanting a turbo diesel car but I'm not sure they make those in a family size vehicle.

WOW~I have to say that I have only had mine worked on a handful of times and only a few "major" things. I drive mine like a workhorse. Sorry to hear that you are not having such luck. Perhaps it is when they changed the design. I just never liked the newer look. I do like the Commanders and plan on purchasing one someday.

Interestingly enough, off topic mind you, as far as Jeep Grand Cherokee's go, there claim to fame in Fort Wayne, Indiana is everyone who has been in a devistating accident with one has walked away with a few minor scratches while the other car's driver was airlifted to the local hospital via helicoptor. This was confirmed by the drivers of the "samaratian" which is the intensive care helicoptor that flies our skies here in Northeast Indiana. Needless to say, most of the trauma docs have at least one in their family somewhere beit their wife's vehicle, child's vehicle, or own personal vehicle.

I have a 2002 Honda Odyssey with 83,000 miles on it and it runs like a dream. This is our first 'foreign' car and let me tell you, I had several Fords and a Saturn before this Honda that never made it past 80K. DH wants to trade in the van for a new Odyssey, but I keep talking him out of it. There's nothing wrong with it and it's paid for -- what more could I want <lol>.
