I think its weird but at the time she gave it to you i would of asked her if there was something you needed to know. is maybe your mil abused and that was her way of asking for help?

Not exactly something every woman has on hand.
Tell you the truth I have no idea where the nearest shelter of that type even is.
To get one you would have to.. well I guess you would have to go to one and ask for the card?
I don't see anything wrong with sharing the number though.

Since the aunt agrees with the MIL perhaps somewhere in the past, that they both know about, there has been some problem.

we are not on speaking terms....Dh had a huge blow out years ago with her.I never got in the middle of it.,it was his family ,he dealt with them...she was the one who hit her kids every single day(I post it it on the spanking kids post)
we think she has some problem.and we talked about with her sister who thinks that is was acceptable and normal for her to give it to me.(,MIL has always been weird,calling me by my dh's ex girlfriend's name...not wanting to come to our wedding because it was yard sale season. so we eloped..)
but it was MIL's sister who told me that it was quite acceptable to give me the phone number of teh shelter.I always thoought it was strange...
I am in no mean talking to MIL about it now..it is just something that came up the other day in a conversation...
