I wonder what happened to Laura (LWMSAVON) and SAMMY. I loved Sammy's home improvement projects.

It was right around that time or shortly after that I joined. I remember reading about all the deals.....it was definitely a golden time for internet shopping.

I love seeing all the names that ring a bell. I remember MattnCatts recipes (gotta go check out the lemon one posted!), also GinaJackson. You used to live in Alaska, if memory serves me. Glad to see so many familiar posters.

Luckily most of the CYA club got smart and now most are happily living in the internet world here and there.

I'm an oldtimer too but can't remember my username but I wasn't a big poster. I remember most of the names here though.

I remember a lot of you who have posted or at least I recognize your names. Whatever happened to grlpwrd and shaylac? If I remember correctly they both had 3 or 4 girls and were pregnant with boys. Could be wrong because my memory seems to be failing lately.

I came in just after all the free goodies.
Not surprising since I am amost always late for everything!
I remember a lot of the "old" names.

Old or new, anyone who prays, please say one for my DH who is in the hospitl with Congestive Heart Failure. I am sitting here relaxing a bit before I make the hour long trip to the hospital. I am kinda scared for him but don't want to say it out loud to friends or family IRL, but I feel safe saying it on here and I just had to tell someone!
Thanks for listening!

I hope that he is comfortable, and I am thinking of you too. They diagnosed dh grandfather with that over 3 years ago, and gave him 3-6 months to live. He is doing better than ever now.

I hope that everything is okay. Keep us updated, and take care of yourself too.

Hi Stella. I remember you and I remember when your husband died. I remember that he died while trying to help another person. I don't think I'll ever forget him which is maybe a little strange since I never met him, but that's how I feel.

I think of you often and say a prayer that you and your boy are doing well.

My son is 19 now and finishing up his freshman year of college. My husband is retired now. I'm a few years older like everyone else I guess.

I started back in sep. 99 I remember all the freebies. There were SOOO many, that you could spend HOURS just doing them all. Does anyone remember that one site (shoot I cant remember the name of it). People had to chooses an certain time to order stuff. Then whichever hour everyone ordered the most, there whole order was free! People ordered like tvs, dvd players, surround sound systems! It was great! I tryed to order, but the site was sooo backed up, that it never went through... Yep good times, good times! Oh and what about drugstore.com? Alot of freebies from them too. Ok one more. The one with all the pet food, toys, ec. wow I still have boxes from them.

Tossing this thread back to the top. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't even know the boards changed and they let us talk about personal stuff again. Tonight I logged in and it was like coming home 20 years later and there's a scattering of old and new people in the neighborhood.

So, hello from me. I remember the Dunkin' Donuts coffee and the pets.com coupons. Those free samples we all signed up for and never received. The CYA club and those that stayed here. The crafters, Catt's recipes, the scrapbook club and the 'mommies' and their 'discussions' about crayons and the right to send peanut butter to school.

This board saved me so much money when I was new to the internet and living on a tight budget. The posters felt like friends, more than random people scattered throughout the country.

I've been around for awhile, through the northwaylady? episode, the battle of the ones with the clovers and ones without <Sneeches and sneeches with stars> the lady tigger something who left her baby in the bathtub and he almost died,ALL the freebies everywhere, now you search and you get tons of those stupid sites where you have to do a "deal" to get something Walmart.com cool though hubby living in NJ til me and kids come next month and he says "There's a pile of stuff in the corner for you" or just yesterday "There's a huge box and a bag from fedex at the door when I got home for you" <Was the sunkist lemonade stand> hehehe

jm19, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband.

Stella, I remember your husband's tragic death -- IIRC, he was helping someone with a broken down car or flat tire. I hope you are doing well.

I miss Sammy/Heather. She and I vacation in the same area and I miss talking to her about it.

I dont really know what defines an old timer but I have been around for a while. I didnt really post unless I had something to add. I did get in on a lot of deals and had one "free" xmas. That sure would come in handy this year.

Good to see you all.

lmvsavon if I typed that correctly runs a website called frugal-families.com or frugalfamilies.com something like that. I joined it a while back. My name was ksuflasher way back then. I was in kent state and was new to couponing. These names your throwing out are bringing out memories. I remember you could keep refreshing the boards every few seconds and have an entire new page of goodies to get.

I still have some of those crayons!! That was before my kids were old enough to hold a crayon, or maybe they weren't even born yet!

Ah the good ol' days.

I remember when the test drives were AMAZING. Remember $75 and they didn't even make you do the actual test drive? I used to switch my long distance every few weeks to get a GC. When Delias had that $30 off $35 coupon (I still wear a pair of shorts from back then). Another favorite was when they moved the carseat law in Ca. to 6 and 60. I couldn't afford to get my son a booster and 2ndhandnews (or was it stellatj) traded me a book of stamps for a coupon for a free carseat from TRU.

Talking

And lets not forget the never-ending $20 visa cards from doughnet(maybe someplace else). I didnt have to buy diapers once for my now 8 yr old dd(thanks Drugstore.com). Free candy and paper products from MotherNature.com or all the free toys from amazon a few years back(I still have 5 of those stupid robots). I would like to have some more free food from netgrocer though. Those days were very good to us.

I have been around for a long time but about 6 years ago had to sign up agin with a new user name ect because we had swithced internet providers and I could not remember my password I could not get password emailed to me, no longer had the email account. LOL So I had to create a new user name ect. I had started with this board a little bit before they offered the diffrent membership levels. Mostly doing the free deals on the internet. then coupon trading forum when we could no loger get free clothes and gifts. I do talk about those days of internet shopping when sites gave you some much free or coupons that would take everything off but shipping. And when the sites never had blocks on how many coupons you could use and the many many $20 off 20 ect. awww well. I had to start couponing when that all quit. I couldnt afford my food anymore I had to pay for the kids gifts and clothes .LOL

I think it was webmd giving out the free asics. I should know this because my Grandma still wears hers.

And the free Cybiko things from startsampling(I never did figure out how to use it).
Remember Smarterkids or something like that? They gave $25gc for their site for signing up for emails even if you signed up 50 million times LOL
I really miss the ton of free Webcertificates from everywhere, Not to be mixed up with the free supercertificates, of course

I have been around since before the 'clover days' but post sporadically.....

Remember the free laundry soap 'coins'? I can't remember the brand now, but you played a game and won the soap cakes? Those alone got me thru the first year post-divorce, unemployement and dd's now-successful cancer fight!

I do frequent the cooking board, looking for yummy, cheap recipes...BF says you dont HAVE to cut coupons anymore, but I still do........

So many wonderful people here and such great times!!!!

And Catt's recipes....
Just a heads up and info... You know you can run a member search on someone and then click on their profile to show their last "log on" date or last activity here. Abrant shows Aug of 2006 as last activity but do realize that even when a member is logged off or logged out, they can still come and just read the forums so someone might be "around" without that showing it.

And as to the missing Catt's recipes, come down to the cooking board and the link to her blog is in one of the more current posts on there. Click the link below...

or here is the direct link to her blog....

I remember so many of these deals and the user names. I am not as much of an old-timer as many of you, but I was here way back when my DD was newborn and she just turned 5!

Anyone remember alatina?

OH yes, I remember that one.
I don't know how many times I signed up for that one and never received a thing. I'm glad to know that at least someone really received something from them.

WOW, I just looked up my old user name and I'm still in the system here.

My stats are

However, I joined before this time, the MC took a BIG CRASH in 1999 and everyone started all over with a joining date of 1999, Some just a few tho were able to get their real join date corrected. I wasn't .
I tried to come back using my old name however, the site kept telling me my password wasn't correct. I tried sending the password to myself, BUT, couldn't get to it because it said the email is MC email server ???? So I joined under this name I have now, I would LOVE to be able to use my old name again. Anyone know how I can get them to send me my password ?
