Oh my, no carbs? That's the nothing white diet? No sugar, flour, bread, rice, pasta, etc?? But that includes fruit too? DH and I have cut carbs in order to lower his trigs, and it worked. In six months he lost 28 lbs and cut his trigs in half. I lost 13 lbs. We're still working on it.

Sounds to me like you're starting on Atkins or South Beach..and I wish you well!
Just remember that nuts and cheese sticks are a great way to kill off hunger pains..Eat till you're full, as long as it's not carbs..I'll be here if you need to have encouragement

Just be sure you check in with your Dr. while you do this or any diet.

The first couple days can be rough, I've done Atkins and I remember the first couple days not feeling great and having headaches.

Good Luck to you!

I agree with McLeaderSuz... Be careful.

I did a no carb diet for 14 days (Phase 1 of South Beach) and really did not feel well and then could not continue on to Phase 2 where you add in good carbs slowly... I totally went off and have gone back to my old way of journalling everything I eat (meaning every candy bar, everything).

Be very careful. You have to be good to your body; it's the only one you have!

But, as others have said, best of luck to you! I hope that you attain your weight loss goals.

Be careful with that kind of diet. I tried it too, and had headaches and was really dizzy. I finally gave up and figured there had to be an easier way than that!

No carbs? Just protein and fat? That's not Atkins nor South Beach. They allow you to have vegetables, which are carbs.

You'll need plenty of Benefiber with zero carbs. I eat low carb, but what you're proposing would have me sick with constipation.

Oh jeez! Be careful! Your brain NEEDS carbohydrates in order to function My BF's Mom went on this diet for a few weeks and she just kept saying how STUPID she felt. She was confused and just didn't feel right until she quit the diet. I would recommend another diet . . .

hmmm no carbs?
I have done the atkins before and lost 65 pounds am going back on it again. Hoepfully very soon.
( Ihave been under tons of stress and unfortunately i eat when stressed)
Atkins usually encourages around 20 carbs for induction phase.
I defenetily ate those 20 carbs too when i ate to few boy i felt pretty bad. Keep us updated if you do the no carb. And like another poster said really drink your water.

I did it about 2 yrs ago and lost about 80 lbs. I gradually fell off during one summer and never managed to get back to it, so unfortunately I've gained a lot of that back. I did straight Atkins, yep read the famous atkins diet revolution book and all. The first few days are tough, like the other posters said, but keep in mind it's almost like coming off drugs is why. Your removing all sugars from your body, and it literally is a withdrawl. As another said, drink your water! I used to carry around a huge jug of water with me and drank it all day. If your doing straight Atkins, follow the rungs as they are given, and stick the "acceptable" list of foods. While your body does "need" carbs, you need the healthy ones. They should come from your veggies, and salad. Best of luck to you!

The secret to being healthy is eating a balanced diet with wholesome healthy foods. BALANCE is the key. Your body NEEDS carbs both good (a lot of them) and bad ones (very very little).

The key is to eat foods that are high in fiber and have protein and carbs that are good for you.

This might help

http://www.mendosa.com/common_foods.htm

And here are the reasons why a no carb diet is bad. You will lose weight at first due to keytosis
http://www.biblelife.org/ketosis.htm
which causes a fast and dramatic weight loss.

http://www.healtharticles.org/low_ca...ts_072204.html
http://www.barillaus.com/Dangers_of_LowCarb_Diets.aspx

If all you want to do is lose weight the old saying goes you can cut your leg or arm off. But if you want to start and maintain a healthy way of life nothing that causes a sudden and dramatic weight loss will work in the long run.

Instead opt for a diet full of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, etc. Do not eat anythning with High Fructose Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated fats, Enriched flours, or where the first ingredient is Salt or Sugar.

I highly recommend this book. I hate the title but it teaches you how your body processes foods and how you can make little changes in your life for good health.
http://www.realage.com/doctorCenter/...x?cbr=YDGGLE01
I purchased this book on Amazon and it is changing my life.

Believe me when you choose good health with exercise (yes you will HAVE to do a daily exercise routine for the REST of your life or you will NEVER be successful at losing weight and keeping it off that is just the reality) the weight will fall off.

You do little things like eating oatmeal for breakfast and keeping a plastic container of walnuts in your car for when you get hungry.

You eat the superfoods
http://www.webmd.com/content/article/81/96952.htm
They are everyday foods that benefit your body in many ways.

Remember what you eat is not just about the calories but also how the foods affect your body in the hours and days after you eat it and also how the different things you put into yourself react with each other.

I implore you to reconsider and to forget about a NO carb diet. Eat the good healthy carbs (like broccoli) and eat a balanced diet of wholesome foods.

If you want to be successful and happy look at others who are and follow their example. The bright shining really healthy people in the world eat a common sense balanced diet and drink lots of water and they exercise daily. To be like them live like them.

Good luck and I hope you make a good choice for yourself in the long run.

I know a lot of people think NO carb is the way to go because they think it's fast. I suppose it is but it's not realistic (don't beat me up please just my opinion!).

I've lost 10 lbs over the last 3 weeks following the 40% carb-30% protein-30% fat plan. It's very much like the Zone diet. The book I use is called The Formula (if anyone wants the author let me know). It's very easy to follow once you get the concept. At the beginning your carbs are mostly veggies and low to medium glycemic fruits.

Bottom line though is if something works for you that's great - and I wish you luck!

I am glad that you feel better and this is working for you. I would have serious reservations and hesitations about ANY Doctor who supports or encourages a NO carb diet.

I hope your Dr has encouraged you to eat the healthy carbs. Whole grains and veggies contain carbs and are some of the healthiest foods out there.

I am not trying to be a Killjoy or anything I just have serious concerns for the health of anyone who totally removes one whole food group simply to lose weight.

Are you doing "the Curves" diet?

I've done it and it works. The first few days was hard as your body is getting used to not having so much sugar and processed food. What I did was keep plenty of snacks from the free food list. I also got some sugar free Jello and sugar free Cool Whip. This helped with my sweet tooth!

The main thing is to make sure that you drink at least 8, 8 oz. glasses of water a day!

I have quite a ways to go though....but I in for the long haul. I have a gallon of water in the fridge and I drain it at the end of the day. I haven't done the sugar free jello and whipped cream yet...it does sound gooooood right about now though. Good Luck to you.

Hmmmm. You're either doing Atkins (a low-carb diet) or you're doing NO carbs. Atkins allows/tells you to eat a certain amount of carbs during induction, then that number increases based on your individual results. It's been awhile since I did induction, but I remember it being 20 or 30 g per day.

Please read Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution. Please. Also, don't use "No carb" and "I'm doing Atkin's" in the same conversation. Atkin's is all about healthy eating and making wise choices about carbohydrates. I've spent the last 5 years LCing successfully and have made it my way of life. I can't help but get a little perturbed about misinformation. There's too much out there already concerning the good Doc. If you need any help, feel free to PM me. I would love to share my experience.
