Daughters Sweet 16 Would This Be Wrong?

It's my beautiful daughters sweet 16 on a Monday and then she receives Confirmation that Saturday so I have a Party Dilema. Can I combine the parties so I don't inconvenience everyone 2 weekends in a row. Is this poor etiquette? I was going to take my daughters friends out for lunch. Any suggestions lady would be greatly appreciated.

I think your guests would truly appreciate you combining the two parties. These are two very special occasions and I think your family and friends would like to be a part of both of them. I think it's a great idea. The upside is you save some money. I like the idea of taking the friends out to lunch to not down play the sweet 16.

I will have to say that I think every girl deserves the sweet 16 parties that they show on MTV....Just kidding that show is so disgusting to me.

That show destroys kids because my daughter has lacked for nothing except when you watch that show.
The Girls have been BRATS that I have seen on there and act so patheticly spoiled.
Back to my daughter who has many nice freinds she really doesn't want any big friends party so I don't kinow what to do. Her friends are also receiving confirmation the same day so I doubt they will be able to make the family party. We are taking her on a cruise in August to celebrate even though her birhtdays in March she can't miss school. Uh why am I stressing over this so much!

I think it's normal to stress we as parents want to give our children the world and make everything perfect. I really think this party will be perfect and how much better can it get a 16 year old going on a cruise. I'm 32 and have never been on a cruise. She will love every minute stop stressing Mom your doing great.

I think your best answer will come from your daughter. Ask her. However, I have a 16 yr old daughter, and I feel that confirmation is much more of a family "thing" whereas a sweet 16 is a friends thing.

How about doing a friends' thing for her birthday and looking for another family or two who want to combine a confirmation party. Do you have a town center or some good size room you could rent and then put on one party shared by several families? In this area it is very common for several families to share parties for events like graduation, multiple birthdays, etc. When you say sweet 16- you do not mean a lavish dress up party or do you? What does your daughter want? I have never seen a "special" party for a 16th birthday except on MTV.

Since these BOTH are two very special occasions I would keep the celebrating seperate.
