Get ready...

In Northeast Indiana, we are gearing up for 7-15 inches of snow beginning tomorrow morning! I have a friend in Cincy who said they are calling for 12-14 inches beginning today!!
All you dish users...make sure you go get some good movies to take care of the "snow emergencies" we are sure to have if the snow actually comes!
What are they calling for in your area??

I'm getting ready here as well and I'm also in NE Indiana (just N of Ft. Wayne). I had a meeting in Indy tomorrow, but my boss just cancelled on me, Thank Goodness. Anyhoo, we have plenty of kiddo movies and video games so we should be fine. DH just cut lots of wood this weekend for auxiliary heat in the basement just in case.

4-8 here in Toledo. Waiting for gas man then I will make a bread and milk run. Thank heavens for stockpiles during the hard to get out & walk winter months.

I have a meeting in Syracuse tomorrow...hopefully my boss will cancel as we have people from Michigan and the surrounding cities scheduled to be there! This will be crazy if it actually does hit...remember back in January 1999 when we had a level 2 snow emergency in the fort and the entire city shut down...I was one of the "lucky" ones working at Lutheran hospital then...we HAD to go to work...grrr...

Just a tip for you satellite users.

We tend to get quite a bit of snow and some ice, etc. You all know when we have snow or ice build up on your dish, or even hard rain, it can mess up the reception.

We found a cure. We wipe our dish down with Rain-X every few months. Since doing this we have not had our dish go out due to weather at all.

We also use it on our satellite internet dish.

Thanks for the tip lexiejeff! I will tell my dh about it. I am in the northern burbs of Chicago and we are looking at anywhere from 6-14 inches, we just got about 5 last night, oh fun. Our schools never close either! In the winter of 1999 we gt 24 inches in 24 hours, the kids had school the next day!

I guess I'm nearly as ready as I can get. (but I'm NEVER ready for that white crap)

Thanks for the dish tip. I think I might have some of that here somewhere.

I do have to go out about 5 pm across town to p/u some perms so I think I'll stop by the bread store and grab some bread (if they have any left). Also will put some gas in the can for the generator (just in case).

I was supposed to have my yearly eye appointment tomorrow morning but in view of all the predictions, I re-schedulede it first thing this morning. Now going in March. Hopefully then we won't be facing these same possibilities.

I'm sure school will be cancelled tomorrow so we'll be all set to stay in and veg. I'll have my ears tuned to the scanner all day to keep up on local happenings.

Stay safe and warm everyone.

I'm in the Maryland/DC area. It started snowing about 2 hours ago. They say this will be the most snow for the winter. Anywhere between 4 and 6 inches but then ice on top of it. They close schools if they think it is going to snow.

I just heard that here in central upstate NY we're supposed to get 10 - 20 inches starting tomorrow through Wednesday. Not looking forward to more snow days for the kids because I do daycare and I'll be extra busy with the older kids.

Can't wait for the snow. I really need to nail my kids with a snowball.
Hey don't call Childrens services I would make sure it didn't have any ice in it.

Well, they just said on channel 15 that this snow storm is expected to be the biggest that Fort Wayne has seen in years.
I don't know which year they might be talking about but the blizzard of "78" is running through my mind. I sure hope it isn't a repeat of that one. I lived in town at that time, just 2 doors from a main through way but it took us a week to get out. Now I'm in an addition and away from any main roads so who knows how long we might be stuck in here.
One good thing, the school bus route is just 1/2 block away and I have a sil and grandson on the street dept. so maybe they would come to my rescue.

I stopped at Kroger and the bread store to stock up just in case. Now I'm really glad I did.
Boy, Kroger was a real zoo. I haven't seen checkout lines that long in quite awhile.

In view of all this and there is not one local district who has declared even a delay yet. But there are a number of Ohio schools who have already closed schoo; tomorrow and others are having a 2 hr. delay.

I'm listening to the scanner and the street and road crews are already hitting the streets and roads so they're ready when it hits.
This is my grandson's first winter on the street dept. and he's been begging for something like this. I autta wash his mouth out with soap. But it sounds like they're gonna run his butt off.

We have one to two FEET of snow predicted for Central Maine. We haven't had much snow this winter, so most people are really excited. The kids are hoping for a day off from school. Our school districts don't cancel school unless the weather is really bad. But, with that much snow, the kids should at least get one day off.

I live 10 miles from where al the snow is making the news in Northern New York (Mexico, Oswego, Fulton, Pulaski) and we are supposed to get hit again very hard with the storm that is going to start tonight.

I really don't mind. It has been great. My kids are getting to see what the snow used to be like when we were young. What does irritate me is that when I got out of work at 0700 am today, it was -23 degrees. Bring on the snow but let it warm up to 0!!

Good luck. Keep posting what you are getting because it is going to come to us later today.

I'm in Rochester...my kids and I were just "admiring" your snow in the newspaper!

We are looking forward to our supposed 10-20 inches...we'll see. It has been a long, long time since we've actually gotten the snow that has been predicted. We are ready to cozy up and watch it fall!!

We have a dr. appointment in Rochester this Friday- I am hoping to make it. We were supposed to go last Friday but due to the weather there was no way we could get there. We are hoping to go down Thurs. and stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester and that way we will at least be there. We will get home whenever. Just need to get this appointment done.

As long as you can get out of YOUR area you should be okay...even if we get it, they usually handle it pretty quickly and efficiently. Even if we do get the storm, I would imagine by Thursday things will be cleaned up pretty well.

I used to volunteer at the RMH, what an awesome place.

How much did NE Indiana get? I'm near NW Indiana and we got 4 inches, but it's still coming down. I thought that school might be cancelled, but not the case. We'll see about tomorrow if this continues.

The noon news in Ft. Wayne said so far 2 inches but still steadily falling. The 35 mph winds is what's making it bad. Sil who's on the city street dept. told dd they are barely keeping up.
It's supposed to be worse as the day goes on and continue through out the night.

I'm hearing on the police scanner (which also receives surrounding county road crews and ambulance) their having lots of accidents on the Interstate. I just heard one of them will have the hwy. blocked at least an hour.

Just too bad we don't have the road equiptment here that they have in the east. Out there they get it cleared up in a hurry. But then they also close the roads while clearing them too.

All schools in our tv viewing area (including in Ohio) are closed today and I would guess they will be tomorrow too, if not longer.

All this snow can go away now My dh is home working instead of going in. They called him this morning and told him everyone was going to work from home.
I just checked wane tv and see a few schools already closing for tomorrow. Of course there are none from the Ft Wayne area but I'm sure that will change by this evening.

Is it Spring time yet???????

Well, as of the 5 pm news your school system hasn't caled of yet but our's is and I know without a dought your's will be soon.

When the plows are struggling to navigate it just imagine what a bus would do.
I'll be suprised if there's any local area schools open again before next week.

And possibly more headed at us on the weekend.

Well, just checked again and FWCS are now closed! East Allen has been listed for a while. I didn't think they would but they're just slow getting it listed.
DH is home again tomorrow too. Everyone at his job is working from home until this clears up.

I'm still waiting in NNY. We are supposed to get another 24-30" of snow overnight. I have to go to work at 11 and I was hoping the patient was going to be discharged from my unit and I would be cancelled. I guess it is time to pack an extra pair ofsocks and underwear!!!

I would rather have to stay and do a double than have someone risk their lives to get to work with the weather being predicted so bad. My kids are all old enough to watch out for themselves for a few hours and DH will be home til 130pm when he is back on the state roads to plow again!!

Nothing so far. I hope that if we are going to get it, we do. I went to the grocery store and stocked up on everything. So now, they are all sitting around waiting. Waiting mostly to have school cancelled for tomorrow!!!!

It is coming!! I am in Western NY and it started snowing around 6:30pm...we have at least three inches so far and it is falling steadily. My husband is just convinced this is going to pass us by!! We'll see what he thinks tomorrow when he is out shoveling it!

I spoke to my husband on the way to work at 1030. He works for the NYS DOT and they get done at 10pm on a quiet night but were on hold just waiting it out.

Everything in Syracuse was starting to close down for tomorrow on the 11pm news. About 11:15 it started snowing lightly. Now it is snowing pretty heavy.

The hospital is even going to offer child care tomorrow free for anyone who might not be able to get to work due to childcare issues. They will provide free child care just to have the staff come to work!! That is a first!

Anyone who doesn't have to go out should just enjoy being snowed in. That is my favorite, being snowed in with no where to go and everything that we may need already at home.
