ETA I also got a dozen red roses before DH went out to snow blow- I rarely get roses!!!

I just got a "Happy V-day, by the way." by instant messenger.

But we were discussing my new washer and when it might arrive, since we went with a Staber and they build it when you order. And he went whole hog on it, got the $1699 version I could have gotten a white KitchenAid set shipped for that much

And I'm wondering if my baby is going to roll over soon, put her down on her back and now she's turned 180 degrees and is on her side, leaning forward.

We exchanged cards... that is what we both wanted. He always writes the sweetest messages in them.

I'm going to make Cornish Pasties tonight (my family's favorite!) and will cut hearts in the crust before I bake them, LOL.

My boys were very lovey-dovey this morning. Lots of hugs and kisses (or 'hogs and fishes' as we call them!).

So far, a perfect V-Day!

dh NEVER prepares ahead!
I should be used to it by now...we have been together for seven years and never once has he suprised me and actually have a gift for me on V-day. He usually goes to the store and tells me to wait out in the car and he comes out with meaningless gifts that he didn't put any thought into.
I even put on his phone a reminder this year...buy wife gift on the 12th!! His excuse this time is the snow we received...I bought his gift back in January. I know it's not a contest but seven years...come on!

Aww honey! If it was a contest, you'd lose though. I have been married almost 14 years and it's like that most of the time. I'm used to it and when he does do something, it is especially surprising.

DH left for work at 2:30 AM and we had blizzard conditions, so I expect nothing. In fact, Monday he had a few hours in town and wondered what to do. I suggested he shop for my gift. He went to his parents instead. So, I'm sure nothing will be here when he comes home.

***Edit: OK, I have to admit, he went to the store after work. I got a helium balloon, a card and a box of chocolate. He also picked up Taco Bell, so I didn't have to cook. I guess I shouldn't complain.

I was totally surprised this morning when I got up and Dh had got me something. Usually he gets something on his way home from work the day of anything. He got me some hershey kisses, candles and a pack CD-R's

More surprising was that he got DD's something on his own. He got them a hot pink towel, some peeps and couple of little notebooks for them. I just think that was so sweet of him to think of them.

I got a box of Godiva truffles (what I get every year) and a card.

He got the dds a heart shaped box of Reece's minis.

I got the dds a card (from both of us) and a little thing of Cherry Chocolate Fudge.

I got DH a CD (what I get him every year), a card and the Cherry Choclate Fudge.

A dozen red roses (delivered early enough in the morning to catch me in my pajamas! ), a box of chocolates, a sweet card, and a love letter.

I got exactly what I wanted - a card. We're actually going to celebrate next Wednesday - we have tickets to go see the Blue Man Group and I'm sure we'll go out to dinner before that.

Sounds like a lot of you have really thoughtful husbands. Also sounds like a lot of you have pretty thoughtless husbands. I can't believe they can't at least go out and get you a $3 card.

I was totally suprised by mine! My DH and I usually do not celebrate VTine's Day. I make a special dinner and we talk about good memories but that is about it.

This morning he gave me a new heart shaped tea infuser and a variety of teas from Stash Tea. I could not imagine how he ordered it and got it without me knowing. We work together and I handle all mail in and out! He had it sent to our church and brought it home after "Guys Night Out" the other night.

I got a brand new 2007 Ford Explorer last week (which I am making the payments on!) But dh and I don't ever do presents for anything because we pretty much buy whatever we want all year long!!! So it's kinda cool buying what you want and not feeling guilty about it!

Let me brag on my DH of 18 years. He surprised me this morning with an awesome gift that he made me over the last week. He took a 9 pane window frame and put and 8x10 pic of him and I on the beach in the center of the frame. Then in each corner he put an 8 x 10 pic of each boy individually and one of the 3 boys together. He then had the boys draw me a personal valentine and he also wrote me a personal valentine....then scanned them into the computer and printed them out as 8 x 10 photos and included them in the frame. It is beautiful!!!!! My 15 y/o son's card said "Happy Valentine's Day Mom! Thank youfor all the things you do for me! Picking me up after football and making dinner seem like little everyday things but they really mean a lot. I love you mom!!".....it brought tears to my eyes. My 5 y/o wrote "Vilis R Bloou I luv you mom".....which translates to violets are blue I love you!!! My 9 y/o wrote "You are the nicest mom ever. I hope you have a good Valentine's day. You always give me things to do".....my guys (all 4 of them) worked hard on this project and I never had a clue. Then at the top they wrote "There are no gifts we could give, no gestures we could make and no words we could speak that express our love more completely. Our wife, our mother, and "ALWAYS" our valentine....Love Your Boys!!! Then to top it off I received some red Gerber Daisies (my favorite) and when I left work today my car was compelety decorated with a light up heart and red sticky clingy hearts all over it.....and white streamers with x's and o'x.......what a sweetheart!!!!!

My Dh isn't home from work yet. But we bought gifts this weekend. I got him a new wedding band it's really pretty. White gold with diamonds. I am glad he went with me to pick it out because it sure isn't what I thought was his style. While we were at the jewlery store he bought me a diamond and sapphire tennis bracelet. I love it! I am a sapphire nut. When he gets home he will probably bring me a card and some flowers. I am a lucky woman.

I always told the DH not to get me flowers on Valentine's Day since they are SO expensive. I'd rather have him get them from someone selling them on the street corner because it's more special to me. So, I didn't get flowers. He got me a stuffed teddy bear and I got him a card and a stuffed leopard.

Nothing here, actually he did bring me home a bag of 5 grapefruits on Monday and said "Happy Valentine's Day". Oh well, my b-day is Sunday so it is kind of difficult for DH. I'm used to it after 12 years of marriage.

I got home from work and dh was gone and when I called him to find out where he was, he said nowhere. He gets home 5 minutes later with a bag from Dollar Store with a lot of chocolate in it and a card. He then tells me how for 10 minutes he argued with the cashier b/c the hershey kisses were ringing up wrong. We go out to grab a quick bite to eat at KFC and he doesn't get the lid on the drink very well and it spills Sierra Mist all over my lap. I'm ready for bed now, lol. I know I will look back at this day next year and laugh, but not just yet.

Hats off to all you ladies that have a guy that doesn't wait until the very absolute last minute to do anything, lol.

WElll ... before I say anything I must tell you two things... Vday is also hubby's birthday (46 btw) and we celebrated our anniversary on 2-2.. with saying that I 'usually' get minimal (which is fine as I have a Christmas bday and he is GREAT on seperating the two and we go 'all out' on our anniversary).....but I woke up to a bag of kisses (his trademark candy) a beautiful picture frame set that I have been wanting and a beautiful card... he also arranged with my boss to take me out to lunch... I gave him a gc to his fav out to eat place and we will have his bday on Friday since we both had to work last night...I do have a GREAT guy and we have been married 15 years... 2 kids~later... hehehehehe

I didn't get anything. Was it a shock? Nope.

Dh tells me he was going to go to the store (on V day) to get me a card but didn't make it. Um ok, how about the other days when you were at the grocery store getting subs for lunch.....it's not like this holiday sneaks up on ya.....it's on the same goll darn day EACH year! Oh well.....at least HE got a nice card and chocolates from ME.

That's not really fair to say though. The background is he tells me EVERY YEAR he is going to go all out and suprise me...and every year, he "forgets" to do anything. I don't think V-day is a big deal at all...what I do think is a big deal is being set up with promises and then nothing. When we were dating, my now husband would suprise me with roses all the time. He would take me on long weekends and do all kinds of romantic things for me. Now that we're married with a child, I am lucky to get a kiss goodbye when he goes to work...and even that, I have to remind him!

He would take me on long weekends and do all kinds of romantic things for me. Now that we're married with a child, I am lucky to get a kiss goodbye when he goes to work...and even that, I have to remind him!
Trust me.. I DO understand. I had that background too. You don't want to go through what we did to get a change in attitude. It was a rough patch and included divorce papers, counseling and 2 slips of morals on his behalf. I'm not trying to make you feel badly. I feel sorry for you. Men just don't seem to understand the importance of the romance and the promises.

Did you tell him how you feel? I know it sounds simplified, but it may matter. I can't imagine that he really wants to do things that hurt you. Maybe try to talk to him.

I'm sorry if my response rubbed you the wrong way.

It's not THAT bad...no divorce is going to result (he only does this FIVE times a year: birthday, anniversary, mothers day, v-day, and xmas)...and yes, he knows how I feel. I told him...verbally and non-verbally! I am not the one to with hold my feelings to stay mad. I speak my mind with my hubby...drives him nuts!
This afternoon (2/15), he told me to go spend $100 I told him he was CRAZY!! I didn't even spend a third of that on him!! He said yes you did! (I bought him a wireless xbox 360 controller and a madden 07 xbox 360 game...grandted they would cost $100 in a b&m store but I had a few deals up my sleeve!!) I said, come on! I know how to shop better than that! He *wanted* to get me a target gift card but the problem with gift cards is I usually spend them on other peoples gifts. We even passed a target yesterday and he was going to have me once again sit in the parking lot while he went in to get my gift. I told him...it's too late! You had two months...we talked about this on a weekly basis. He got mad because his plan was foiled. I told him he wasn't allowed to be mad because he is in the wrong! It's over now...
The best gift he ever gave me was on the first mothers day I had as a mom. He made me a "moments" video. He put together all my son's pictures and set them to music. I sat there, watched it, and cried like a baby. It was so sweet...the best gift ever! He then showed me how to use the program and I took it a few steps further and made longer videos because my then 8 month old son loved to watch his face on the tv. It cost him all of two cents to make because it was put on a cd-r and saved as a vcd so it was dvd player compatible. I would rather have something home made anyday over a stupid commercial gift...and he also knows that!
Since then...it's been nothing. Oh well...I am trying to train him but he is not teachable!

I got a card, box of loose teas and a bottle of my favorite perfume.
(The problem with the perfume is that they have 2 different types and the bottle is lighter than my original so I will have to exchange it probably)
ALSO, he cleaned my bedroom, daughters bathroom, living room and playroom.

Dh did well this year. He took me to lunch at Lonestar steak house. He bought me a movie and Meat loaf's Bat out of Hell CD with bonus DVD ( old favorite the cassett has seen better days). He got each of kids a box of candy and the girls each got a pink rose. I made him a card and gave him a bag of all kinds of chocolate his favorite.

I was surprised. DH hasn't given me anything in many years - unless you count bad attitude - naw, that don't count. I got flowers and fudge (my favorite). Shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but it does make me wonder whats up with that.......
