Do you eat the ends of the bread?

I'm sitting here eating a pbj sandwich with the ends of the bread. If I could buy a loaf of bread that is soley the ends, I would be a happy woman! But I know people, my DH included that doesn't like those two pieces. I think they make the best pbj sandwich! Which is good, more for me!!

Yes I do but I eat good wholesome whole grain bread so the ends taste good not like that crappy grocery store bread that most people buy that tastes like a sponge.

I love the crusty bread ends. We buy the special breads that are crusty outside and soft inside.

We have stopped buying that whilte bread fluff.

The ends make the best french toast and I will save them for my stuffing.

Nope-- for some reason I don't. But we have to give my older dog meds, and we always use a piece from the end to wrap it in, so it never goes to waste!

I dont eat them til thats all thats left. The girls won't eat them.. DW wont eat them.. If I don't, DW tosses them... I dont LIKE them, but 'they will do' if Im making a sandwich...

And we buy cheapo light bread, kwim? Store brand type stuff (for 4/5 of us, anwyays..)

FWIW - Rice bread (1/5) crumbles anwyays, and there IS no end piece (and THAT gets tossed)

before I was married, I had this "funny" roommate who would make us sandwiches knowing that I didn't like the ends of the bread so she would just flip the crust on the inside and laugh when I discovered her trickery. She also did this to her dad who didn't enjoy the ends. Even at restaurants (outback) I won't eat the end but my husband will...he won't eat the ends of the store bought loaf bread though...the dog gets to enjoy that piece! It's quite a treat for her. Isn't that sad??

I only eat them if that's all that there is, too. I agree with the others who like the heels off the homemade or crusty breads.

However, I keep a bag in the freezer of heels that I use for bread crumbs and stuffing. Then I've always got fresh, whole grain bread crumbs availabe.

I will eat the end of a baguette or french bread(the best one is from Target IMO.panera bread freezes their dough, therefore the bread is hard as a rock the next day!)

I won't eat the crust of a pizza,my dh thinks I am nuts!!!!!I wont eat the soft bread either.(the one you call sandwich bread...)

to think of it,I am such a snob!!!!!but I think it is all an acquired taste, things I grew up with .I don;t like chips, ice cream, peanut butter, root beer...and the list go on.....the worst thing i ever tasted(my kids like it though) is macaronni and cheese....I just can't eat that.....
ok ,I know off topic.....

Same here, the crust is the best part; especially with toast.

I used to give a friend's mom a loaf of ends for Mother's Day every year. I would talk to the bakery workers. They would save me a day's worth of ends(they were discarded when they made sandwiches). The workers thought I was nuts.

Bread dries out so fast here that we don't eat the crusts, or the piece behind the front crust. It's sort of a stale buffer for the rest of the bread.

Yep, we both eat them around here. I wouldn't say we love them, but they are eaten. If the loaf has been around for a little while and stale, I will throw them out to the birds. The birds love me when I bake something and it doesn't turn out right. I throw it out the back door, lol. I especially love homeade bread ends. They are the best !!!

If it is fresh bakery Italian or French bread, YES, as soon as I get it home from the store! White regular bread, only if it it the only slice left, otherwise it goes out to feed the birds.
