Libertarian here!

I register Democrat because I think it is the lesser of two evils. I would gladly register Independent but then I feel at this time in our country it's unrealistic and I feel very strongly if all the people who voted for third party candidates had voted for Al Gore in 2000 the good ole USA would not be in the predicament it's in.

I register Democrat instead of Republican because I have observed a lot in my almost 50 yrs of life. I have noted that Democratic politicians tend to legislate things that are helpful to the working class and tend to support all the social programs that assist children and those too f*&ck$@ up, sick or whatever to help themselves. They also tend to protect the environment more and pay attention to food regulations more.
On the other hand I have noted that Republican politicians tend to legislate things that help rich people, big business, oil companies, military contractors and they tend to loosen environmental protections and also loosen rules that keep food safe.

Since I am a hard working person who does not own big business, does not sit on any boards of corporations, does not have millions or even thousands in the bank or stock market, heck I even work for the Feds and get no benefits or anything, and I care about the planet and the food we eat, I tend to see the Republican politicians as doing things that harm my way of life and make me have to work even harder than I already do.

Not that I am stupid enough to think that the Democratic politicians don't grease their own wheels and do things to benefit themselves they just don't seem to have the Calvinistic (simply put those who are poor deserve it and God has punished them while those who are rich have pleased God and he is rewarding them) viewpoint and are more willing to give people a hand up.

That's my point of view.

Now that being said whether you consider yourself Republican, Democrat, or anything else, it is my belief that we all want the same things in life. That is happiness, financial security, spiritual and personal fulfillment, and safety for ourselves and our loved ones.
Now if we could only agree on how to achieve that and the greedy bast@#%d$ would start cutting the pie in more equal pieces so that eveyone who helped baked it can have a piece then maybe we can all get along and stop arguing and pay attention to all the things that are important.
