| Help! Anyone know where I can go for assistance with medical bills?
I really don't know what to do here. My husband works full-time, but I don't have insurance and am not currently working. I had some medical problems a few months ago and now have several thousand dollars worth of hospital bills. I desperately need any info on places that may help us with them. I'm not even sure if I'll qualify, but I need to know where to start trying. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Debby |

Depending on how much you make you can try to get on medicaid. If I remember correctly they cover back 3 months. Also check at your hospital/doctor. I know here they offer a care program to where they take off your bill according to your income. I can't remember what the program is called. I know when I had a kidney stone they took off over 3/4 of my bill and helped us. Hope this helps a little.

The united way helps with things like that I know if you are in Florida all you have to do is dial 211 and they pick up and you go from there. You can also go on the web for united way. I would talk to the hospital first though because trust me if everyone paid 5 dollars a month on their outstanding balances with a hospital the hospital would be operating in the red!! I bet that they will work with you!
