What song a,ways

I hit the wrong key I meant to say "What song always makes you cry?"

I have a few of them but every time I hear this one I cry. If it comes on the radio and I am going somewhere I have to turn it or I'll cry half my makeup off LOL and when I want a good cry I put on the CD.

Written by John Denver & Mike Taylor
Rocky Mountain High

He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Comin home to a place he'd never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door

When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hangin by a song
But the string's already broken and he doesnt really care
It keeps changin fast and it dont last for long

But the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
Rocky mountain high (high Colorado) rocky mountain high (high Colorado)

He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say he got crazy once, and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory

Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high (high Colorado) rocky mountain high (high Colorado)

Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin fire in the sky
I know hed be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky mountain high

Its a Colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybodys high
Rocky mountain high (high Colorado) rocky mountain high (high Colorado)
Rocky mountain high (high Colorado) rocky mountain high do de do

2 I can think of.
Man of the Hour by Pearl Jam. It is the song played at the end of Big Fish. My dad died 2 years ago this July and everytime I hear it I cry.
And Light Years by Pearl Jam, for the same reason.

Tears in Heaven (Eric Clapton wrote this song after his son fell to his death many years ago... breaks my heart to think of losing a child)

Edited... had the title wrong!

I agree with the John Denver song also. I just heard it on the radio the other night coming home from work. Also, the 26¢ song from the Wilkinsons. When I first heard this song about 9 years ago, I was moving about 750 miles from home for the first time and started crying while driving. I still get teary eyed when I hear this song.

Edited to add the words: ((It's a sweet song))

She sat all alone on a bus out of Beaumont
The courage of just 18 years
A penny and quarter were taped to a letter
And momma's goodbye in her ears

She watched as her high school
Faded behind her
And the house with the white picket fence
Then she read the note
That her momma had wrote
Wrapped up with 26¢

When you get lonely, call me, anytime at all
I'll be there with you, always, anywhere at all
There's nothing I've got that I wouldn't give
And money is never enough
Here's a penny for your thoughts
A quarter for the call
And all of your momma's love

A penny and a quarter
Buys a whole lot of nothing
Taped to an old wrinkled note
And when she didn't have much
She had all momma's love
Inside that old envelope

When you get lonely, call me, anytime at all
I'll be there with you, always, anywhere at all
There's nothing I've got that I wouldn't give
And money is never enough
Here's a penny for your thoughts
A quarter for the call
And all of your momma's love

Oh its been years since momma's been gone
But when she holds the coins she feels her love
Just as strong

When you get lonely, call me, anytime at all
I'll be there with you, always, anywhere at all
There's nothing I've got that I wouldn't give
And money is never enough
Here's a penny for your thoughts
A quarter for the call
And all of your momma's love

Here's a penny for your thoughts
A quarter for the call
And all of your momma's love

Guns-n-Roses

Don't Cry

Talk to me softly
There's something in your eyes
Don't hang your head in sorrow
And please don't cry
I know how you feel inside I've
I've been there before
Somethin's changin' inside you
And don't you know

Don't you cry tonight
I still love you baby
Don't you cry tonight
Don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby
And don't you cry tonight

Give me a whisper
And give me a sigh
Give me a kiss before you
tell me goodbye
Don't you take it so hard now
And please don't take it so bad
I'll still be thinkin' of you
And the times we had...baby

And don't you cry tonight
Don't you cry tonight
Don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby
And don't you cry tonight

And please remember that I never lied
And please remember
how I felt inside now honey
You gotta make it your own way
But you'll be alright now sugar
You'll feel better tomorrow
Come the morning light now baby

And don't you cry tonight
An don't you cry tonight
An don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby
And don't you cry
Don't you ever cry
Don't you cry tonight
Baby maybe someday
Don't you cry
Don't you ever cry
Don't you cry
Tonight

Don't you cry tonight
Don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby
And don't you cry tonight

And please remember that I never lied
And please remember
how I felt inside now honey
You gotta make it your own way
But you'll be alright now sugar
You'll feel better tomorrow
Come the morning light now baby

And don't you cry tonight
An don't you cry tonight
An don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby

Don't you cry

Unhappy Sad Songs

Dear Mama Boyz 2 Men This was played at my moms funeral (my brother picked it) I love it

Live Like You Were Dying Tim Mcgraw My mom died of cancer at 44 very sad song to me
I'll Fly Away (for my grandmas funeral) she used to sing that when she was younger and it would make my dad upset he'd grab her leg and say no no my mama fly away
(Cute story I think)

Where were you (September 11th) by Alan Jackson
Remember when by Alan Jackson
Let them be little by Billy Dean

But the most impact is the Where were you song...

Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)
Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day?
Were you in the yard with your wife and children
working on some stage in L.A.?
Did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke
Rising against that blue sky?
Did you shout out in anger, in fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry?

Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know?
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below?
Did you burst out with pride for the red, white and blue
And the heroes who died just doin' what they do?
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself and what really matters?
CHORUS (1x)
Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day?
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Or driving down some cold interstate?
Did you feel guilty cause you’re a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone?
Did you call up your mother to tell her you loved her;
Did you dust off that Bible at home?

Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened,
Close your eyes and not go to sleep?
Did you notice the sunset for the first time in ages,
Speak to some stranger on the street?
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow,
And go out and buy you a gun?
Did you turn off that violent home movie you’re watchin And turn on I Love Lucy reruns?

Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
or stand in line and give your own blood?
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family,
Thank God you had somebody to love?
CHORUS 2x

CHORUS
I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man;
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran.
But I know Jesus, and I talk to God,
And I remember this from when I was young:
Faith, hope, and love are some good things He gave us,
And the greatest is love.

And the greatest is love.
And the greatest is love.

Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day?

I agree with a couple of the other post. I always cry when I flip through the stations and here any of these songs:

I Can Only Imagine (gives me cold chills)
Live Like You Were Dying
Butterfly Kisses (I actually boo-hoo with this one)
Jesus Take the Wheel (just an emotional song)
Holes in the Floor of Heaven
In My Daughter's Eyes (tear jerker for a mom)
Tell Me I Was Dreaming (the song..not so much but the video..oh yes!)

Paradise City by Guns and Roses. It was the only song I repeated in my head when my son's father was killed in front of our apartment 19 years ago,. It was his favorite band and the part where it says "oh won't you please take me home?" I can't even listen to this one anymore.
The way you look tonight by Eric Clapton
Amazing Grace always a tear jerker
That same one by Eric Clapton about his son dying is a total tearjerker

Oh, you guys picked the most amazing tear-jerkers! So much so that I'm getting tearful just reading your title submissions! In particular to me:

I Can Only Imagine
When I Get Where I'm Going
Live Like You Were Dying
I Hope you Dance

I'm adding these two selections: Operator by Jim Croce and

100 Years
I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind

I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star

15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you're wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...

I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you're on your way
Every day's a new day...

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

"Don't Take the Girl" , not sure who sings it since Country isn't my normal genre & "You are Not Alone" by Michael Jackson.

This ones really old but also gives me a tear.

Ben
by Michael Jackson

Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
I'll never be alone
And you, my friend, will see
You've got a friend in me
(you've got a friend in me)

Ben, you're always running here and there
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
If you ever look behind
And don't like what you find
There's one thing you should know
You've got a place to go
(you've got a place to go)

I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
Ben, most people would turn you away
I don't listen to a word they say
They don't see you as I do
I wish they would try to
I'm sure they'd think again
If they had a friend like Ben
(a friend) Like Ben
(like Ben) Like Ben

Who'd you be today by Kenny Chesney

Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
I feel you everywhere I go.
I see your smile, I see your face,
I hear you laughin' in the rain.
I still can't believe you're gone.

It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who'd you be today?

Would you see the world? Would you chase your dreams?
Settle down with a family,
I wonder what would you name your babies?
Some days the sky's so blue,
I feel like I can talk to you,
An' I know it might sound crazy.

It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who you'd be today?

Today, today, today.
Today, today, today.
Instrumental Break.

Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
The only thing that gives me hope,
Is I know I'll see you again some day.
Some day, some day, some day.

I just thought of another one.
Too Old to Die Young I think it's by Don Williams

If life is like a candle bright
Then death must be the wind
You know you can close your window tight
And it still comes blowing in
So I will climb the highest hill
And I'll watch the rising sun
And I pray that I won't feel the chill
Till I'm too old to die young

Chorus:
Let me watch my children grow
To see what they become
Lord don't let that cold wind blow
Till I'm too old to die young

I have had some real good friends
I thought would never die
But now all that I got left of them
Are these tear drops in my eyes

So if I could have one wish today
And I know it would be done
I'd say everyone could stay
Till they're too old too die young

Does anyone remember a song from the 70's called "Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks?? It was a big hit back then and its about him dying and saying goodbye to all the people in his life that he loves. A MAJOR tear-jerker!!

I also feel nostalgic every time I hear Rocky Mountain High. I grew up going to Colorado every summer for family vacations, and that's where I would be right now if I could.

Ther in a country one called "Thank God for Kids", It is by the Oak Ridge Boys, here are the lyrics, but you have to hear it to the music to get the full effect.

"Thank God For Kids"
Artist: Oak Ridge Boys
Written by: Eddy Raven

If it weren't for kids have you ever thought
There wouldn't be no Santa Claus
Or look what the stork just brought
Thank God for kids

And we'd all live in a quiet house
Without Big Bird or a Mickey Mouse
Or Kool-aid on the couch
Thank God for kids

Thank God for kids there's magic for a while
A special kind of sunshine in a smile
Do you ever stop to think or wonder why
The nearest thing to heaven is a child

Daddy, how does this thing fly
And a hundred other where's and why's
I really don't know but I try
Thank God for kids

When I look down in those trusting eyes
That look to me I realize
There's love that I can't buy
Thank God for kids

Thank God for kids there's magic for a while
A special kind of sunshine in a smile
Do you ever stop to think or wonder why
The nearest thing to heaven is a child.

When you get down on your knees tonight
And thank the Lord for His guiding light
Pray they turn out right,
Thank God for kids.

Mmmmm...Thank God for kids.
